A Solution to Scammers!

This is a good idea. But I'd take it to it's conclusion - a whole interface built around this core to allow players to initiate, search for, and complete trades without both players having to be on a the same time, and without having to set something up in advance. Not everyone is on the forum.

So for example, I might list a new trade as either "I want a X and I'm willing to give an A, B or C in return" or "I have an X to get rid of, and will take A, B or C." And to set this up you choose the cars from the list, and when you finalize it, your car or cars are held in escrow and your trade is available to be searched by any other player (or friends only as an option).

If you search and find a trade you like, once you accept it, your cars are transferred and you receive the car or cars offered by the other player right away. If the trade ends without a transaction or is canceled, any cars in escrow are returned.

This is the only way to make the feature available to every player. And I think it's a viable, unique alternative to Forza 3's auction house.

So with these trading set ups what is to stop someone from colluding with their friend to gift a x2010 to their friend for a kubelwagon, then once the trade has gone through, reloading his save from before the trade?

While this is a good idea, it only enables trading when BOTH traders are online, thus creating a barrier for traders across different timezones.

Trader A will not be able to (and won't be willing to) press "Agree" without seeing what trader B has put into the "Trade room", and vice versa. so this really restricts the ability for ppl across diff timezones to trade.

Recall other popular MMO like maplestory or runescape as someone has mentioned above, they are trading only when both parties are online.

Well, the guy would still have his X2010, but not a kubelwagon.
It'd be easier to just gift the redbull and reload.

Well I'd imagine the same restrictions that apply to giving cars to friends would also apply to trades. The scenario you mentioned applies to either.

Agreed - that's a necessity. See my post above about holding cars in escrow (FM3 does this)

Did you got follow this topic at all?

Yeah. If you're in this proposed trade room, trading your x2010 for my Civic and we finish the trade we swap cars. I now I have an x2010, you have a civic.
You reload your backup save and you now have an x2010, no civic, and I have no civic and an x2010.

The way it currently stands, I gift you my civic, you gift me your x2010, reload your backup save, and the end result is the same.

Alternatively you could just gift me the x2010 and reload your save and we wouldn't have to bother with my civic.

What's the problem here. It would seem that you are confused.
The proposed system prevents scamming, ie you not sending me your x2010 after I sent you my car.
This thread has little (or nothing) to do with duplicating cars.

Let PD implement E30's and real car sounds with real turbo whistles, thennn they should implement a better trading system.

Okay, so heres how it goes:

1. People agree on trading cars and/or paint items.

2. One person selects a new trading room ( a new feature where both traders HAVE to put 1 car each in their slot).

3. They both hit either ready, or nevermind and there you go. No more scams.

Now if only Polyphony would implement such a feature so people wouldn't scam, or duplicate. đź’ˇ

Or you could simply arrange a deal with a member of the GT5 Marketplace like me, who has a service similar to the one in my signature. There are a number of people in there who do business similar to me...

Similar system to what's used in most MMOs, I believe. Both users have to input their items at the same time, and both have to agree to it before it's completed.

The problem is that GT doesn't actually have a "trade" feature. It's just a "gift" feature. So it's up to the users to be honest about it.

Good thing I read all the posts before submiting mine, it was the same as yours.

There is no trades, only gifts.

I bash PD for a lot of things, but this thread is ridiculous. Trading is a very big user created part of GT5, and that makes it something that PD might want to official add to the game, but PD cannot be called stupid because people lash out a problems with a feature that does not exist.

There is no trading in GT5, so there are no problems posed to the trading feature by scammers.

Excellent idea, however I'm not trying to burst your bubble but this kind of idea has been going round ever since the game came out. Many discussions of this kind of system has been discussed in lobbies I've been in; which was probably even as long as a year old if not more!

Exactly. PD developed the Gift function to gift, not trade where people got greedy and always wanted something in return for their car - its only human nature (yes I admit I do trade too). :P

Was it really necessary to bump a thread that had been dead for over a year?

Nobody seems to have noticed the dates, though.

Yes and no. I myself have pointed out that we have a gifting system and not a trading system. However, they can still rightly accuse PD of being stupid for not having anything beyond the gifting feature. Not everybody wants to just freely gift cars, and it's PD's fault for not giving them options to sell or trade. They are stupid in that regard, especially since trade/auction systems have been in place in many other games for a long time, including Forza (auction house).

So, I agree that we can't blame them for problems with the trade system since there isn't one, but we can blame them for there not being one.

Okay, now I feel stupid for not reading the date of the OP. :dopey:

By your logic then, PD is also stupid because Forza, NFS, and many other games has a livery editor and GT5 doesn't. PD is stupid because Forza and NFS has engine swapping and GT5 doesn't. PD is stupid because NFS has a helmet cam and GT5 doesn't.

Do many games having a common feature mean that all games have to have that feature?

Why anyone trades with a new member, or a member who doesn't contribute anything else and only posts in the marketplace, is beyond me.
I have actually incoraged people from other sites with a dead trading section to come and make their trades here, because gtplanets marketplace is the most vivid trading area I've seen so far. But if this is the additude for a MOD, I won't be doing it anymore. If someone just wants to complete their car collection in your oppinion they should run around the forum spamming threads to prove that they are trust worthy. If you are dealing with a new member, just ask him/her to send first. Is that so difficult ?

As for duping, you might just want to read the update in the How-To Use GTPlanet's GT5 Marketplace Forum - thread.

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=4322412#post4322412

That doesn't count as duping ?

Yeah that should happen before the trading thing. Even Need for Speed has better sounds than GT5 IMO. L0L

This is yet another missed opportunity by PD. It should be a relatively easy thing to program within the game and would make trading so much more secure and fun. There is a lot that could be done with this including paying for cars or trading for combinations of cash and cars, once in a while allowing the trading of cars above the $1,000,000 (which to begin with stinkgs like a liberal, big government, big brother mentality), multi car trades, paint/car trades etc.

People want to trade, give the people what they want and you build brand loyalty.

It's a good idea, personally I think something like this should have been in from the start. I don't think it's critical, there are lot's of members in the Marketplace who are very trustworthy, we all learn from experience.
