A- spec points not rising after races.

Ok, I've just checked my A-spec points after swapping cars over and noticed they are staying on 11239. I've won 20 or so races today which have been worth 200 A-spec points, that alone would be worth 4000 points.

Why is this happening? I'm at 75.3% so do I need to progress in the game further to allow the points to continue to build as at the moment they are at stand still and I imagine they have been for ??? long.

I know A - spec points don't mean much except as a personal marker but I'm still wondering what's going on with them.

You only get 200 points for a certain race once.

If you win the Sunday Cup race on Autumn Ring (just an example, they all work the same way) and get 200 points, you won't get a single extra point if you win it again for 200 points. However, if you won it with 100 points on the first run and then race it for 200 points you'll get 100 extra points after the 200 points run - and then you're again in the situation in which no more points can be obtained.

Thanks for the reply Greycap.

That's interesting, what happens regarding non events though; if for example I enter a track (then you can choose, free run, photo drive, ....) so I go to race and flick the slider over to speed Ten to make the opponents more difficult.
This is the way I like to practice, however on winning no points are added to my total even on a 200 pt race. Is it only possible to win 200 points once on these too?

Yes. It's 200 points for all the Family Cups, no matter which track you race on. When you've won it once, that's it. No more points to be gained. The game considers the Family Cup to be one single race regardless of the track choice.

Many thanks Greycap, that straightens things out.
I suppose I'll just go through the races again, looking back I'm sure there must be a fair number that I haven't won the alloted 200 points on so I'll now go and try to make up the difference with lower powered heavier cars.

You're welcome, it's one of the less detailed part of the game so confusion is quite understandable. Personally I don't hold the points in a high esteem, I've completed the game a long time ago but only have a bit over 25.000 points and that's about what has come by itself during the completion. I don't need them to prove I can drive. :P

Being that you're on 11,239. you only have 100,574 to go :ouch: :). Welcome to the nutters club if you would like to join. You only have to look in the 200 Points thread to find all the information required to get max points. And if you get to stuck, just ask.

Points are just another facet of the game, that some of us like to try for.

There was talk early on that the points system was introduced as a handicapping system for the on-line portion of the game which never materialized. That way, if you were at your level of A-spec points, you wouldn't be expected to race against 100,000-point guys.

Just a theory, as the online racing was dropped from the game, but there doesn't seem to be any other real purpose for it.

Huh, I never heard that theory.

Well, one thing is for sure...A-spec points are supposed to give players some incentive for not cheating their way thru the entire game because generally if you enter a car with less power, you get more points...if you can drive it to a successful win.

we were just talking about this a few weeks back in another thread. To me, the A-spec point system is useless. I'm already in the habit of downplaying stuff in races, and I've noticed on many occasions that 200-point races aren't always tough. And a race that rates just a few points won't always be a walkover, either. So I ignore a-spec points, but many other players find them useful.

Just the 100,574 points to go, grief. I'll add that to my list of things to do...

I know what you mean when you mention how tame some 200pt races can be. I've noticed that it is possible to on some occasions buy a bog stock car like a second hand Impreza coupe just give it an oil change and win most races if you shift the slider to 10 difficulty, certainly this is true on technical circuits where it's the straights which the competition claw back any lead you have, Even in zonda's, TVR's and the like they rarely put up enough of a fight for you to come away with anything less than a first place finish.
V's the cpu my modified Fiat 500 is a little 200pt zonda slayer on small tracks, the replays are a laugh, I'm sure against a live opponent I wouldn't stand much of a chance.
