A Visit to the BMW factory in Spartanburg.

Well, i was with my grandparents for the weekend in the mountainhouse, and my grandparents have called BMW 1 month ago and got us in the tour around the factory. The Museum was great. They had everything from the BMW Istetta 3 wheeler, to the BMW LMR-V12 art car. They even had the Z3 from James Bond: 007 Golden eye ( It was one of the 007 movies ). In the factory they only produced the X5 and the Z4. The X5 was in most of the beginning of the tour. I even saw the robots putting together the X5. It was AWSOME! If you knew already the seats in the X5 are not from BMW, They are from LEER. The Robots putting together the X5 was so delicate when putting the thing together, I was amazed. The Z4 was awsome indeed, And I noticed the "Z" on the side of the Z4 upclose. The factory mainly produced the X5, but it was clear that the Z4 was there icon at the South Carolina factory. What I found intresting is that on the Z4, BMW comes out with 3 colors every 3 monthes. ( I think thats what they said, Its somewhere around there. ) At the Beginning of the tour they had the new 5 series / M5 on preview. Its to bad they don't allow cameras, thats the only thing that sucked. But otherwise, if anyone has a chance to go there, GO THERE! Well, thats all I gotta share.

In the Museum they did. But in the factory, no.... And the 5 series / M5 is in the factory part. The only thing in the museum thats nice is the 007 Z3, LMR-V12 and some hatchback Z3 thing that looks like a race car which is nice.

Do you think I would be able to sneak a camera into the factory? It's times like this that I wish I had one of those cell phones with those tiny attachable digital cameras.

Im sorry to say this, but they'll check you good. I mean GOOD! You would get caught easily, cause the Tour guide checks and the guards double check. there is about 5,000 workers and they are everywhere. They said the if you take cell phones, it would set off the robots and make them go haywire or something.

Oh did I say you have to wear this dorky headsets and safety glasses? the headset is to make SURE you can hear the Dumbass guide.....

I was thinking of stuffing the camera into the crotch area of my shorts/jeans. They don't pat you down, do they? They better not.

I figured they'd make you wear safety glasses inside the factory, but I had no idea about the headsets. Is there a way to turn it off so you don't have to listen to the guide?

Well, they patted a couple of people down. Yea you can turn the headset down ( THANK THE LORD! ). I had it on cause I wanted to know what was going on. But the Guide said some retarded stuff though. Like this stuff.

No idea what they were making there. I know it was some sedans thats all I know. I'm not able to tell what kind of BMW it is just by the frame .

I also went the world headquaters and the musem. I'll dig out the pictures.
