About the brakes?...

Is it normal to not having/being able to upgrade your brakes? Well, I'm not the expert, and I assume PD would know it better than me, but if you're upgrading a car on all other aspects and leave it with the stock brakes it seems like (IRL) something would go wrong.

I'm sorry if this has been brought up many times before, sometimes a new thread is just way easier and faster than searching 💡

Been beaten to death already, but basically...

Brake fade isn't modeled in GT5 at all which makes the main purpose of a brake upgrade pointless. Generally speaking, unless the factory brakes are woefully undersized, a big brake kit will stop the car exactly no faster than the factory brakes for one emergency stop; tires are generally the limiting factor rather than available braking force. It's the second and third time you nail the brakes where a factory setup will overheat and decide to not stop well.

Given this isn't the case, there is no purpose for a brake upgrade. I've yet to find a vehicle with brakes inadequate to the point of not locking racing soft tires without ABS at lower speeds (indeed, the LMPs and Group C cars could stand more than 10/10 brake pressure at 150mph but those are the vehicles that have never had brake upgrades available in any GT game as well). Brake pressure adjustment increases stopping power (higher = stronger) but once you run out of grip they lock.

Alright, thanks for explaining (again) :P

I still have a funny feeling about it, they could as well put it in the tuning shop just "for show"... ok perhaps not.
