Anyone catch the John Stewart show today? Man was it hilarious when they were talking about his death. But yes, thank god that piece of trash is dead....What I find funny is what he thinks he's gonna get when he gets up there....

Will do, they air it at 00:05 at CTV. 👍

So far I heard a joke on late night...

seems now that the head looney tune in the world is dead...

Good riddance to that piece of human garbage. Let's drag his rotting carcass through the streets, so people can throw stones and kick the bastard in the face.

...and lower ourselves to the level of treating human beings like pieces of meat, like Zarqawi himself? It's understandable that this news has provoked strong emotions, but we mustn't forget what it means to be civilised human beings, even in the face of pure hatred, which Zarqawi almost certainly was.

Zarqawi may have escaped 'real' justice, and sadly his bloody legacy of barbarism will probably succeed him... but atleast we can be thankful that he himself can no longer mastermind any more carnage against innocent civilians...

I'd laugh if they shoved an M80 in his nose. There are pictures out of his corpse now, and soon there will be DNA-verification released from virginia.

On that same note, here is a commentary about how it is natural to celebrate the end of his reign and the end of his terror, we should not celebrate the death of another human being, no matter hwo evil they are.

And here is a story that he was alive for a little bit after US and Iraqi forces arrived and was aware enough to try and roll off the gourney to escape.

I do have to admit I take some joy in knowing that he was aware of the fact that the US troops had stopped him before he died.

Yes, we should. It's not really on his level, though. If we were truly on the same level as Zarqawi, we would behead innocent journalists, and send the tape to major news networks.

Yes, we should. Throughout the history of mankind, nothing has pleased us more than the death of our enemies. Morbid? Sure. Reprehensible? Hardly. There is no way that anyone should feel bad for Zarqawi, or feel bad for not feeling bad. He was killed, but that isn't even close to the kind of suffering he deserved.

So it is clear, let me say that I disagree with the article I posted, I was just posting it due to the relevance to TM's post.

I'll admit, when I was getting ready for work yesterday morning and heard this news on the radio I said, "yes," under my breath. I even went in to work all happy. About mid-way through the day though I asked myself why it made me so happy. Was it because of who he was? Was it because it was a justified death? Why celebrate his death?

I knew it was a legitimate reaction to the situation but I realized that it was because of his actions that I chose to celebrate his dying. Did that suddenly make me feel like I shouldn't be happy? No. As I said, I actually disagree with the article. My joy doesn't stem from hate or anger but rather from the knowledge that he has been stopped. It is the same thing I felt when Saddam was captured. I knew it was the end of him and his actions (that would be fumbling with a machine gun).

Do I wish he had suffered? No, I would much prefer a straight bullet to the head (BOOM! HEADSHOT!). But as I said I was glad he survived long enough to realize what had happened and who had done it. Those few minutes of mental anguish are probably worth more than weeks of physical torture.

Think for a moment.

the guy you followed...YOUR leader ..your inspiration for YEARS....he said he would do it and PROVED it on video...he chopped off heads he blew up trucks full of soldiers...in fact he did all of this and more ... THEN he made TAPE recordings....he showed them to the WORLD....

So how could killing this richard head be anything BUT a victory ?

I never said it wasn't a victory, he deserved what he got and I hope his 72 virgins take one look at him and run. What i'm saying though is his death will is only a small step to winning this war. His death is only be a dent in the terror machine because there are now numerous people trying for his position. Terrorists don't think "oh crap, they got him! Ok guys, I guess its over, lets go home"...They see this as him giving his life for something they believe in, and to them, he's now a hero, and someone they will want to get revenge for, and strive to be.
