I've been using it as a mid-corner guide. To help me from just throwing the car into the wall but I've seen that people use abs off with 0/10 brakes to emulate a handbrake but besides that I never use the handbrake anyway, does it actually help in drifting and fast paced drifting rather than slowing down the flooring it into the corner or feigning?

Some people prefer no ABS and some prefer ABS. It's just about preference. I use ABS for one reson only and that is to slow down for a corner if I am going to fast but, I also use the e-brake in case I get into trouble or i start to understeer or something like that.
but I only use my brakes for slowing down and I only use my e-brake for mid corner adjustments or reverse entries or if I really need to swing the rear end.

But there are people who use the brakes rather than thier e-brake. like in some cases you may have a wheel but no handbrake setup so they just use their brakes. and some people don't use brakes period.

It's all about preference. kinda like dot sights some people like holographic sights some like dot sights, neather have a huge advantage over the other but to some people it make a difference

I use standard brake balance with ABS set to 10. I use handbrake and down change to enter into a lot of corners now. I imagine people could use a 0-10 brake balance as an analogue handbrake but I have never tried it myself.

I use ABS on 1 with brake balance favoring the rear heavily with out having to use the ebarke. The high rear brake balance allows me to maintain drift while trying to slow down. I also downshift upon corner entry to upset the balance of the car to help throw it in the corner.

eugh. Putting your brakes to 0/10 is just a straight up bad idea. Sure, you can use it like a handbrake, but why? It totally removes your ability to brake, which is essential for controlling your weight transfer. There are more ways to drift than jamming on the handbrake, braking drift is my preferred technique and this requires balanced brakes. I rarely touch the handbrake. Look up some real drifting techniques, they all work in gt5, some more than others but they definitely all work.

We prefer faint drifts. Drifting without using the ebrake as much as possible is always preferred over anything.
