Um, you need to update your processor to get more speed (mhz). Not your motherboard.

Although, updating your processor often means updating your motherboard. Updating your motherboard will do virtually nothing unless you get a new processor as well.

400mhz won't place Vice City, and if it does, expect heaps and heaps of errors, crashes and a very slow framerate.

Don't say I didn't warn you...

Actually, he probably does need a new motherboard. I doubt if a 400Mhz PC came with a motherboard fast enough to take a 800Mhz processor.

Yeah, GTA III runs slow enough on my 1.7 GHz...:(

Really - it rolls along quite happily on my 1.1G AMD - mind you, I've got a pretty decent video card and lots & lots of RAM.

You have a laptop. Chances are you have a 1.7ghz Celeron processor. Celerons don't have as much L2 cache (or something like that) as an Athlon or Pentium. A 1ghz Athlon is probably faster than a 1.7ghz Celeron.

Also, laptops don't have the greatest video cards.

Celerons....:indiff:

Very ordinary processors - we had one (it was a surplus from my partner's brother's business so it was free) a few years ago. Wouldn't pull a greasy stick out of a dog's bum.

Yeah, I've also got only 256MB RAM and a crappy video card as well...:(

GTA3 is the only thing I have right now since my parents forsed me to get rid of Vice. Im rebuying it SOON. I miss the comets, they look like a porsche.

I bought Vice City when it first came out here in Australia and played it to death over Christmas. I haven't played it for probably 2 or 3 months but I bought GTA III around 1 month ago and I havent stopped playing it.

Because I played Vice City first, I was a bit dissapointed about a few things in GTA III. I missed not being able to snipe the drivers in their cars, damage the cars with bats and assorted weapons and I missed the bikes a great deal.
