(Age under 18) Which car do you want as your first car?

Get something reliable and good on gas mileage. And something that is easy to insure. I desperately wanted an RX-8 (and still do) until I got an insurance quote and realized that my entire monthly income would be going towards insurance and gas.

Well you can't drive for another 4 years, so I don't know why you're looking at cars at all.

That being said, anything small and Japanese is fine for a first car. (I don't know what cars are popular in Turkey.)

I wanted a Honda Civic when I was 14.

My dad owned a 1997 Civic iSR (1.6L Vtec) and I was 14 when he started teaching me to drive in it (on private land). He passed away when I was 17 and I wanted to keep the car but my grandmother wouldn't let me and sold it off. So I went in search of a Honda Civic and got an insurance on one of the hothatch types a 1.5L Vtec... I'm sure the insurance company were laughing their faces off with me when I tried to get insurance.

Most wouldn't insure me, some wanted in excess of £3500-4000 (probably 3x the cars value). Ultimately it's best to just get something cheap to insure with a crappy little engine that does well on fuel. It obviously depends where you live as things like this will vary a lot.

Yeah I know... I'm in no rush to decide at all. Japanese cars are very popular here. Especially the Honda Civic.

16 here. My first car would be my current car, which is a 1998 Infiniti Q45. The first car I want to buy, however, is a 1992 Mustang GT.

I'm going for a BMW 330i zhp. Also for what it's worth my brother got a nice 2004 Lexus is300 Sportdesign.

Rightfully so. I love my franken-Civic, "Serenity". She's an '09 EX-L Coupe that the previous owner dumped a 2.0L VTEC from an Si into. Because they couldn't drive a stick and wanted a slushbox.

Weird former life aside, it's an absolutely brilliant little car. It actually drives a lot like my dad's old Audi S4, despite being a little FWD econo-coupe. And it gets 41 mpg despite my hooning around on country backroads.

Never going to happen but:

I'm waiting until I'm 21 to get a car, and even then I may not because I won't be able to afford it. What I really want is a cheap MGB or something that I can work on myself and have fun with, as it won't be my primary transportation and it will be pretty cheap to run. I also would quite like a Daihatsu Copen, as they're fun but pretty cheap to run.

By the way, if this wasn't posted before, can a moderator tell me? I'll then edit the title.
Why don't you work it out for yourself? We don't have any special search skills that you can't use.

But the thing is, cars are insanely expensive here. I'll show you a screenshot on the internet, if it'll not get me banned.

I'm 14, I would like an 89-93 MX-5 if I was being super realistic. If I could push the limit on price a little, say £1000-£2000, maybe an '86 Scirocco

You never know... you can pick up cheap ones in the UK for under £1000, don't know about the US but I wouldn't imagine there'd be a huge difference.

I said that cars are expensive here. Here is an example. This one is a 116i, but I can post another if you want. I made blurs because it contained text that isn't in English. And yes, I'm not joking, this thing costs 41 grand!

Similar one on Autotrader for £22,990... so would you say roughly double the cost for where you live? (i.e a car worth £10,000 would be $18,000-$22,000 for you?)

When I was 18 I wanted a used E36 M3.
I ended up with one of the best cars an 18 could ever get... The 4cyl. '98 Toyota Camry Le. 👍

Glad it worked out like that too. I had to pay my dues driving normal cars before I got to drive something special.

I'm 20, but still don't have my own personal car (just parents' Fiat 500). :grumpy:
I'm planning my first to be a GAZ Volga. The 24 model (1970-1992) most likely. Like this:

Costs $1,500~3,000 in good condition.

Or, another possible variant - GAZ 21 Volga "Baleen" series (1962-70) - the most common and cheap version of the M21.

This one is tougher, in good condition it will cost $3,500 at least. If you're lucky enough, you can find one somehow exploitable for $2,000-2,500, but it's also harder to maintain than the M24 (half a century old car, no joke).

I'm probably gonna end up taking my dads old Toyota 4 Runner. The car I dream for though....

But with insurance and what not.

Problem is where I live (Rural Ontario) Snow is abundant and there are a lot of gravel roads that wind and go up and down. So either some old pick up 4x4 truck (preferably dodge) or even an old AWD Impreza.

My dad gave me his 1999 Dodge Caravan...so I putter around in that.

I almost bought a 351 V8 version of this for $2k in mint coniditon:

Insurance though :/ I tried to convince my dad to get me a Dodge Stealth (Rebadged Mitsubishi GTO) but he told me insurance would be sky high. It was also only selling for $2000

My dad bought a 1971 Barracuda when he was my age (15) and he was never able to get insurance on it until he was about 20.

I'm not worried about insurance. I'm covered on my dads plan until I'm 21 at which time they will be taken off the road until I can afford it. Couple of my friends whoa re 18 and 19 also have some sweet cars...one has a blue 76 Cobra and the other a 1972 Roadrunner 383.

Oh alright. I know a guy who is "supposedly" getting his dads C4/C5 Corvette and is doing something along the same line as that. I've also seen some IROC Camaros around where I goto school, but it's mainly pick ups in the country and incredibly ridiculous looking Civics in town (Thats what we get for living near a Honda Production Plant)

14 here as well.

Planning to get a Corolla or Civic. Have no idea what years, just what ever is cheap at the time.
