Alfa Romeo to hit the u.s. anyone heard of this? I read an article in Car n Driver. They said the Alfa's will be sold as mini exotics out of Ferrari dealerships. Oh man i hope they bring over the 147 GTA and the :dopey:

They sure are mini exotics going by their reliability. Although of late theyre getting much better I am amazed to see that they still exist.
all i can say is i am in love with the 147's...esp the GTA's :D

Here's what you could have won:

If they come to Canada, I'd certainly consider buying a 166, although I'd probably go for a used 3 series due to the rear wheel drive. The 147 is a very tempting buy also, although I'd rather take a Mini instead (screw comfortable rear seats!).

Hey Famine, you guys certainly are lucky. Not because of the gorgeous design, but that engine bay is how cars should be sold.

Here's what everything is over here (I know it's a German car, but you get the idea

The Brera will have AWD if I'm not mistaken.
The Brera was a (damn sexy) RWD concept powered by the Maserati V8. The production version, the GT, will have FWD or AWD as an option.

I hope that they do come over because cars are so bland and boring over here.

How can you call a Ford Fusion boring? I think it's a giant step forward in North America. Plus look at all the Japanese cars we get...some of those aren't boring by any means. But having said all that I want more cars from the EU to populate over here just because it would be more choice and some different blood for a change. Hell I want that new Vauxhall VX-R Hothatch over here...that thing is fantastic.

Wow you dont get Alfa's? Learn something new everyday.
welcome to the united states...the land of the crappy domestics

Yeah, we dont get Afla Romeo, Opel, Fiat, Renault, Peugot, and a few more that its a realy pitty that we dont get because they have some beautiful cars....i.e. Clio V6, Peugot 206.

No it's not sarcasm. I'll pit the Fusion vs any of GM's or Chrystler's *shutters* saloons--the Fusion wins. You're going to sit there and tell me that isn't a good car? It's based on a Mazda6, it has a fantastic CVT transmission, and to continue Ford's stepping forward on interiors it has a fantastic interior. The dash isn't hard plastic...it's soft and has a softer feel which is a good thing. So until you drive one and experience it in person don't bother talking bad about something you know nothing about--oh wait you can't you live in Wales and therefore you don't get this car.

Err, where the hell do you think Wales is? Near Afghanistan? Kenya? It's the bloody UK. We get just about everything Ford, bar the trucks.

Yes we have the Fusion. I have not heard great things about it. I have not driven one and have not ridden in one. I haven't seen many around, and that in itself means it can't be that great. I don't deny that Ford makes great cars, I have heard great things about the C-Max.

[EDIT] *Slow Clap* Well one Ford. You had to give two of your cars exactly the same name

What a bloody **** up this has been.

Your Ford Fusion

Our Ford Fusion

Hence the con... fusion.

I agree that the Fusion is a step, a small one, though.
It did beat the Camry and Sonata in a recent C/D comparison but they said that the panel fit is pretty poor.
I havn't seen one either, not even at dealers.

EDIT: Now I see that Famine cleared up some confusion.

Wow, sorry guys (especially Exige) didn't know that your Fusion was that POS. Now that thing is hideous.

Saying the Fusion is a step forward for Ford is like saying a college graduate is intelligent because he got all of his term papers from Essays-R-Us.com

That also goes for the other foreign-based cars "coming out of Detroit" these days.

I mean, don't get me wrong -- when it comes to anything muscular, the big three can take care of themselves. But there's more to life than the Viper, Corvette, Mustang, and trucks/SUVs...and Detroit doesn't really know how to build anything else on its own yet...

@Fusion vs Fusion: Good ol' Ford, pretending readily-accessible international communication doesn't exist... Why couldn't they have called one of them the Fission? :dopey:

@Alfas: I would absolutely love to see Alfa come over here...but I'd never buy one. Sorry, it's just the whole....FWD.......thing. :P

*sigh*

I don't really mind Alfas being FF. It's the styling that's the selling point anyway, right? What would be nice is if Alfa managed to bring quality and reliability up for the American market, and get some volume, hopefully to leverage themselves into contention in the Premium market.

The Fusion is a nice car, a step forward for Ford, definitely, in terms of chassis development... but then again, it's a Mazda, so it ought to be. At least it'll allow them to wedge a foot in the door and steal some of the Accord-Camry market. I don't really like Ford's new "ultra-modern conservative" look, but at least it'll wear for a long time without getting much older.

And why are we talking about Fords, again?

If Alfa is successful over here, perhaps Fiat and the French will realize that a re-entry into the usa might not be such a bad idea... :dopey:

Don't get too excited about the arrival of Alfas in the US. In Britain at least, the Alfa dealer network is woeful - they just don't don't give a s**t about customer service. If Alfa dealers don't give a s**t about the cars, Ferrari/Maserati dealers are likely to care even less.

As sson as a maser or ferrari goes wrong they just shell out to fix it whilkst with alfa owners they expect some kind of warranty to kick in. Plus most people that own ferraris hardly ever drive them.

As for the fusion aka mondeo how come theyres looks nicer than ours?

Easy.

Our Mondeo = Mondeo.
Our next Mondeo = Fusion.

It's even based on the Mazda6 - as the Focus is based on the Mazda3. Though AutoExpress's Mondeo concept looked ultra-awesome. Much more awesomener than the Fusion.
