Introduction.
So, here I am, a stock Alfa Romeo 155 Touring Car, with a 2.5 Liter, V6 Engine, which is quite small compared to the more modern DTM cars (V8's).
The 6 Lap race will be run on Racing Medium tires, I didn't want to risk running on Softs, I will be racing for 15,000 credits and 92 A Spec Points.
The Grid.
Alfa Romeo 155 2.5 V6
Opel Astra Touring Car
Opel Calibra Touring Car
Audi TT Touring Car
Mercedes Evolution Touring Car
Alfa Romeo 155 2.5 V6 (Me)
The two Alfa Romeos, Mercedes Evo II, and Opel Calibra have V6 Engines, which leaves only the Opel Astra and Abt Audi TT running with V8s.
The Race.
Lap 1.
After the first two turns I'm already in fifth, after overtaking the Mercedes before turn one, the Calibra, which is already down to fourth, is just ahead of me now. The better line into the esses, right left turn combo give me fourth place, ahead of two of the V6 cars (Mercedes and Vauxhall), the other Alfa Romeo remains first, the Audi in third, Astra in second. A nice line into the left turn before the tunnel gives me third, and a great exit speed puts me battling with the Astra round the sweeping left, I just avoid grass coming out of the turn due to the Astra turning into the rear half of my car. Alfa Romeos now in first and second. I hold behind the Alfa until the straight, we both have the same engine, and both weigh the same, but I have the drafting advantage. I must of pulled out from the draft to early though since I'm still second going into turn one on lap 2. Laptime - 1'23.286.
Lap 2.
The Alfa is overtaken in the small esses, I'm now leading, but for how long? I made a stupid mistake entering the left sweeper after the tunnel, I tried to enter wide, but I turn to much to the right before the turn and my right wheels go into the sand, bringing the Alfa closer behind. Despite my small mistake, I seem to have quite a lead. Laptime - 1'15.563. Alfa Romeo - 2.506 seconds behind.
Lap 3.
I had a feeling that the second Alfa was holding up the Opel Astra, as by now the Astra would normally be second or first, no accidents or mistakes from me this lap. Laptime - 1'14.707. Alfa Romeo - 4.872 seconds behind.
Lap 4.
It looks like the Opel Astra has now overtaken the Alfa for second place, finally. Another no-mistakes lap, the Opel seems to be far behind enough for me to take the race win if I make no mistakes. Laptime - 1'13.915. Opel Astra - 6.230 seconds behind.
Lap 5.
No mistakes this lap, although I could of taken a few corners a bit quicker, the Opel has dropped behind further, and I will need really bad luck not to win this race now. Laptime - 1'14.094. Opel Astra - 7.133 seconds behind.
Lap 6 (Final Lap).
I won, a 'could be faster' lap though. Laptime - 1'14.936.
Alfa Romeo 2.5 V6 - 7'36.051
Opel Astra Touring Car - +7.356
Alfa Romeo 2.5 V6 - +13.764
Audi TT Touring Car - +13.842
Opel Calibra Touring Car - -----
Mercedes Evolution Touring Car - -----
Prize - 15,000 + 92 A Spec Points.
Tyre Status - Green/Yellow.
Maybe I'll come back to this race one day with some added ballast for more of a challenge, thanks for reading, enjoy!
