Sure wish this thread was stickied/updated. that way people can have a tune list of what they want (can see all variations) like all the subaru's and silvia's and what the exact difference is in power/weight/tq when fully tuned.
I'm thinking about copying all the info that's down so far + looking at my 300 cars in my garage and seeing what list I can't put together.
This was a really good reference guide, shame it's died and hasn't been updated in the main list since 2010

I've been reading a few posts and it seems as though most people are getting 74x BHP out of their Lambo LP 560-4. I have checked mine out and I have 760 BHP.

from what I can tell Hp is based on milage in this game and if it was broken in with the racing oil. IE changing the oil before driving it for the first time. I have been playing with unpaintable cars so I have alot of the same car, If I get them under 1k miles I can max the hp. 0 mile cars break in fully at 200 miles. rebuilds seem to lose hp. and it seems every 7-10k miles you loose some hp in the car that you can't get back, I haven't pinpointed the milage yet. Just take the 71 cuda for example max hp is 825 in your garage but shows 826 in the tuning graph. The most miles I have on one with max hp is 3k
now one with 19k on it from the ucd I can not make more the 821hp even with a rebuild at 48k it is down to 811 and if you do a engine rebuild to soon you will also loose hp as it had 812 before I rebuilt the engine. I've put atleast 1k on it since the rebuild so there doesn't seem to be a break in period on rebuilt engines.

My Amemiya Asparadrink RX7 '06 is now hitting 499 bhp.....not bad
I gave it an engine overhaul thinking it might go up over the magic 500bhp, but unfortunately Not.
I bought a premium cusco subaru and gave it stage 3 tune up...it only gave me another 50bhp or so, very disappointed. its around 377bhp now.
The engine Overhaul comes in pretty handy with the second hand cars. I had a lotus esprit turbo that had done around 60,000 miles that I could only tune to 643bhp....when I realised and gave it an engine overhaul I got around 30bhp extra....675bhp COOL!
