Smells like an automated message, but I would really like to know what's going on. Anybody else received this email, how about from amazon.com?

Old news, you should of gotten this a while ago. Its because the price listed was incorrect so they canceled them all.

I placed the ordered after the price went back to normal (39.99 Pounds).

The old email that was sent in regards to the pricing error read as follows:

Dear Customer

We are writing to inform you that the price for the item

'Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)' - ASIN: B002BWONDK

was displayed incorrectly at the time you placed the above referenced order.

Despite our best efforts, with the millions of items available on our website, pricing errors can occasionally occur.

In our Pricing and Availability Policy (see http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?ie=UTF8&nodeId=1040614), we state that where an item's correct price is higher than our stated price, we contact the customer before dispatching.

All affected orders have now been cancelled. If you still wish to purchase this item, please place a new order online as from tomorrow, which will be charged at the correct price, when we dispatch it to you.

Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused by this error, and rest assured that we will continue to make every effort to maintain the accuracy of all prices on our site.

We look forward to serving you again in the future.

Warmest regards,

Customer Service Department

I apologize then. This is different. I wonder what the reasoning behind it is.

No worries Schmo.

GT5 is still listed in Amazon.co.uk, so I pre-ordered it again just now. I got a confirmation email for the order, but I have a feeling that it will be followed by the same cancellation email soon.

We'll see.

I had my cheaper order cancelled, I re-ordered on shopto.net, it's currently listed at £32.95.

A store here in Finland started taking preorders for what they call Gran Turismo 5 Limited Edition earlier this week. Maybe Amazon is going to do the same? 💡

I'm not pre-ordering until I know what versions there are - no point pre-ordering the "standard" version if there is to be, as the winds say, a greater version with a higher sacrifice. I intend to get all that DLC free!

ll, you can always cancel your pre-order for a standard version? 👍

I had the same cancellation email through from Amazon today after pre-ordering months ago at the 'correct' price. Strange...

I'll just do the same thing I did with Prologue........ Walk into a shop on release day, pick a copy up, take it to the counter and buy it. I really have no idea why people pre-order games.

Simples ;)

Because, we're lazy, and it might sell out fast...

Sometimes there are pre-order specials for those who do pre-order.

Jay
It's not old and he explained why. I wonder why this happened..?
Possibly a case of Sony telling retailers that they are handling the release differently, (maybe that two box options that was rumoured) so amazon have pulled it pending the release of further information.

Or more likley it is going to cost more than they priced it at, and they are cancelling the preorders rather than taking a hefty loss.

If you preorder from Amazon does the game arrive the day of its release?
Depends on luck, sometimes it arrives on release day, others the day afterwards. (thats with prime and paying the extra for next day delivery)

Have you ever considered the fact that, for one reason or another, some people may not be able to easily get to a store? How about the fact that some people like to save a few quid by ordering online? Some people even like to chance getting it early by ordering online in advance.

Contrary to what you think, people are not pre-ordering just to ensure they get a copy in case of shortages, because everybody knows that marketing trick doesn't work anymore. However, that doesn't stop people pre-ordering for obvious reasons I stated above.

Oh, and if you want to get clever and quote things from ads, I think you'll find that it is "simplez"

Well, that's me well and truly told off.

PS, What quote?

Not to mention that if you pre-order it at a store all you have to do on release day is walk in, get the game and leave(assuming you paid it 100% before hand). This means you will be playing faster.:sly:
