How does right-libertarianism get the US out of that?
Any system that respects individual choice is going to rely on people willingly participating and understanding how the system works. It's not exclusively a libertarian problem. A large part of the US population is lacking understanding about many things and have become part of a culture that doesn't care to learn. That's a major concern by itself without considering what approach to government should be taken.

  1. Believing in the inherent will of individuals to act in their own best interests.
Believing in the inherent will of individuals to act in their own best interests strongest desires, more like. The entire concept of a New Years resolution is a satire on how weak-willed and unmotivated humans are, particularly Americans who live comfortably.

I feel like that with the other Big Tech CEOs lining up to join Trump's Kiss My Ass Club was the green light for the USA to turn into early 2000s Russia. There's still the surface-level appearance of a democracy, but now the social media tycoons are in lockstep with the Republicans like the media barons of Russia being in lockstep with Putin. The opposition is either discredited establishment neoliberals who are blamed for petrol/gas costing >$4 per gallon and getting entangled in Iraq, or European-style social democrats like Bernie who'll never get a look in thanks to the almighty Algorithms.

Having lived through that personally, this is what it feels like to me as well. Pretty ****ing ironic that we got away from this situation to end up in the same place a few decades later. I guess it’s still better than what’s going on in Russia for now.

Oh this is utterly bonkers.

"President-elect Donald Trump’s naming of actors Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone as his “special ambassadors” to Hollywood got the treatment on social media.

Trump on Thursday announced on his Truth Social platform that the trio will be “special envoys” and his “eyes and ears” in Tinseltown in a bid to boost the U.S. movie industry which he claimed “has lost much business over the last four year to Foreign Countries.”"

Please leave Mel Gibson out of anything and everything.

Surprised he didn't also include Roseanne Barr at this point.

What in the hell are 3 basically washed up actors going to do about anything? And of course, it's worded in a way that doesn't-totally-sound-like-a-fascist-dictator; "my eyes & ears".

Sounds like he's aiming for a 50s style blacklist and purge of Hollywood, anyone fancy a new one.

Sounds a lot like... Cancel Culture.

Boeing is so screwed and I think the American populace should make a concerted effort to absolutely crater Boeing's stock price. They deserve it for all the problems they've caused. Just get rid of it, chapter 11, start over. And anybody who has served as an executive for Boeing for the past 30 years should be banned from ever acting as an executive ever again.

Nothing to replace either the 757 or the highest-selling plane of all time the 737, nothing even in the pipeline to compete with the A220. Can't fullfil military contracts, nothing to offer for federal projects like AF2. And because of this problem, P&W and other engine OEMs have a problem in that there is no direct market replacement for the PW2000 engines on the 757, because there is no true replacement of the 757.

It's a tossup between Trump himself and Boeing as to who is the biggest embarrassment for America right now. Honestly, I'm leaning toward Boeing.
