I've got several accomplished pilot friends with multiple type ratings who have attempted the ATC entrance exam, the ATSA. None of them passed even after multiple tries. It might be the most difficult employment or entrance exam in any industry. ATC controllers, particularly the ones who are skilled and experienced enough to make it into busy tower and ground facilities, literally have savant-level minds as far as I can tell. They're not perfect but I'd argue they're better at their jobs than I am at mine and I'm pretty decent at mine. But the bottom line is that the NAS system is a system which requires all participants to be trained and pass the tests. You gotta pass to play, and anybody who passes is already very highly qualified and worthy of my trust. ATC requires a high level of innate mental talent and the rest of it can be trained.
Literally nothing that that dog-faced skidmark said matters to aviation safety at all.

It doesn't even appear to be the ATC's fault.
If I heard a summary of the recording right, ATC asks the helicopter pilot to acknowledge seeing the plane, to which I think he confirms. But, the theory is he saw another a plane & not the one ATC was telling him to watch for. @Keef can easily verify & layout what's going on during the conversation if he's heard it yet.

I want to clearly say, that, although we clearly don't agree on things, and that sparks and sarcasm and misunderstanding and miscommunication and angers and all those confusing conflicting feelings and emotions aRe flying high around here...
This is still and should be, and must be a Safe space for all of us to continue interacting learning and sharing our view point so that all party can better themselves in listening and welcoming the rich and diverse community of GTP....
I don't want GTP to be an echo chamber of one party...
Your perspectives, whatever it is, should also be respected
None of us here is trying to silence anyone... Please speak up.

Without further details about the individuals arrested, if true, we can only see this at face value... But if this is truly happening without real reason, then it is worrisome

Disasters require investigation to find out what actually happened and what can be done to avoid a repeat of the event in the future. Likewise determining who is fit for what requires knowing what qualifications each has. What exactly does Trump bring in terms of qualifications for anything aviation related?

So, the FAA stated in a preliminary report that the control tower was understaffed and that one ATC was doing the job of two. So it wasn't DEI; it was, like everywhere else, a lack of employees.
