“DEI” just means Black people, let’s be honest. Ask a conservative how they can differentiate whether a Black person received an influential position in government or in corporate America on their own merit versus “woke” DEI mandates, and their head will explode.

It’s only a matter of time before MAGA flat out says that basically all Black people who are in positions of power are there solely because of DEI. One can only wear the mask for so long.

Bluesky embeds are not working for me. All I see is blank space where the content should be. Any chance you could post a link aswell?
I posted a link. Media from Bluesky embeds directly except when the Bluesky post is restricted to logged in users, in which case a link card is generated instead of an embed.

Remember when Kamala was DEI and Trump was... hard work or something.
I still can't seem to find an explanation other than the obvious shared ideology for why Clarence Thomas hasn't been branded a DEI hire when the bitch was chosen to fill the Supreme Court vacancy that resulted from Marshall's retirement. It would have been seriously bad optics to replace the first and up-to-that-point only black justice with a white dude (or another white woman), which still means that race was part of the calculus and any number of other conservative candidates were passed on because they weren't black.

And what of that connie bitchfit over Biden's campaign promise to nominate a black woman ("ReEeEeEeEeEeE iDenTiTy PoLiTiCS") when Reagan campaigned on nominating a woman in 1980 and fulfilled that promise by nominating Sandra Day O'Connor?

DEI just means woke now. They're overlapping concepts to begin with, but people have tired of woke and DEI allows you more freedom to just fling the insult at minorities rather than just democrats.

It's amazing to me that we have gotten to the point where it becomes so socially accepted to just look at someone based on their skin color and resent them.

So this the logic:

White Male= smart
Non white / Female(DEi)= dumb and lazy

?

Did I get this right ? Is this essentially what trump and all the trumpers and trumpettes maga think ?

Fixed it for you given one of the helicopter pilots was found to be a woman with several hundred hours of experience & Maga morons aren't changing their tune about it being "DEI".

lol. lmao, even.

If it's unconstitutional then how does the restraining order (I assume that's what TRO is) only apply to the defendant states? The restraining order applies to the EO, not to the states who filed the motion eh?

@Keef, really awful week for the aviation community. Plane went down in Philadelphia.
A small medical transport plane has crashed into several buildings in north-east Philadelphia, setting homes and vehicles ablaze, and injuring people on the ground.

The jet was on a medical transport mission on Friday evening and carrying four crew members, a child patient and the patient's escort, Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, a medical aircraft company, said in a statement.

I cannot believe what I just watched on TV. I had to turn it off. I am enraged. I feel personally attacked and disrespected.

This man, this absolute dog turd of a man, used this opportunity to politicize and point fingers at a deadly aviation disaster. Zero empathy, all hatred. I am shaking I'm so distraught by what he just did. He just mocked the only thing I've ever really cared about and been good at, being a pilot, and aviation safety.

I've got so many things to say but I'll just say this - I hope whoever voted for this guy gets exactly what they asked for, including the majority of pilots in the industry who tend strongly conservative.

Donald, don't point fingers before the investigation starts you idiot. A tragedy like this should not be politicised! People have died and the families want answers, not your stupidity and total lack of consideration.

As a term it also implies more of a systemic crushing of dissenting conservatives, so it plays better into the ex-QAnon ultra-conspiratorial crowd.

To be honest, it seems more like there was a brief aberrant period where that wasn't the norm in the US. Really, this is just a return to the form that has been such a major part of the history of the country since colonisation.

They haven't determined that it's unconstitutional, only that it's likely to be. The temporary restraining order is to prevent damage to the defendants while they go through the process of determining if it is in actual fact unconstitutional. It's a pause against those who would potentially be harmed, and the states not joining in filing the motion are not claiming potential harm that needs to be restrained.

School Lunches as an Australian is such a weird thing I struggle to understand the American sides

Here, there is a cafeteria to pay for lunches but most people its the parents who prepare the lunches or of youre old enough you can do it yourself.

To be even more honest, there's been a brief, aberrant period in the history of the world where there has been an attempt to counter what has been centuries - millennia probably - of oligarchy, patriarchy, racism, tribal, nationalist or religious conflict, the subjugation of women, the exploitation and mistreatment of children, the systemic oppression of minorities etc. etc.

Now that brief experiment with Wokeness is over we can all go back to the good old days.

Here, unfortunately there is still a problem of hunger in America and sometimes that could be a child's only meal of the day. But now since we're only concerned with giving multi-billionaires tax breaks, it's programs like this that have to suffer.

You guys should look at how kids are so much better treated in school, at least for lunches in Europe (France).

Socialism works... For kids and healthcare....

I saw. Not as much initial info on this due to the lack of data and visibility but it does seem familiar unfortunately.

Back in 2016 I was a ground worker at KOSU airport and one of our base customer Citations was at Cleveland's Burke Lakefront airport, presumably for a Cavaliers game, Cavs beat the Celtics and I was comfy at home watching the game. The next morning I get to work at like 6am to find the manager on the phone and not happy at all. Turns out that Citation never made it back to OSU. It was determined that the pilot likely got disoriented after taking off into snow, icing, and IMC, especially above a pitch black body of water. The weather itself shouldn't have been a serious factor but disorientation absolutely is. On the planes I've flown, 700 feet is the minimum climbout autopilot altitude and it comes up pretty quickly.

This one sounds like similar weather conditions at least, low clouds, IMC, rain, likely icing. Nothing the plane itself can't handle.

Edit: My own experience suggests that air ambulance companies tend to be difficult work environments for pilots. They operate under Part 91 rules which has the fewest restrictions of all commercial operations.

By all means, review all the programs you want. Make sensible, logical changes as needed to stop abuse of the systems. What you absolutely cannot do is turn everything off all at once then decide if you're going to turn any of it back on.
