My own experience suggests that air ambulance companies tend to be difficult work environments for pilots. They operate under Part 91 rules which has the fewest restrictions of all commercial operations.

We have air ambulances where I work and some of those dudes are nuts. They don't think anything of any condition, and their sole focus seems to be on the patient and topping other pilots on who's done the craziest thing. The helicopter pilots seem even crazier and think nothing of landing a Bell 407 on the side of a mountain in a blinding snowstorm at night. I respect what they do, and I respect their wanting to do whatever it takes to save the patient's life, but I think they're all a bit unhinged. They're really interesting to talk to though and have some wild ass stories.

It's really weird that Trumpers and MAGAts seem to think that everyone who hates Trump is a Biden and/or Harris lover. You can hate Trump while also not liking Biden and Harris. There's no magical logic that says if you dislike one, you must like the other.

The only reason I voted for Harris was due to the fact that Trump is nothing more than a fascist asshole who doesn't understand Econ 101. Did I want Harris as president? No, not by a long shot, but she wasn't a fascist asshole and at least had an understanding of the economy that went beyond 5th grade.

I've always joked that helicopter pilots are crazy but that's because they're flying stupidly complex machines that either work or don't, and I've seen some do wild stuff in person. I would never fly one myself.

As for the medflights, that's a job where it can be difficult to set any workplace pressure aside and focus on SOP. My least favorite thing to do in a plane is to rush or feel rushed. I think a lot of us go out of our ways to avoid it and my job has even less time pressure than airlines! I can see how medflights would be the ultimate form of time pressure.

Oh no, the system in the US is working exactly as intended. They want the children to suffer.

It's 2025, there have been systems in other countries giving demonstrably superior results for their citizens for decades. They are very much aware. The US is the way it is because the people in power do not want the average citizen to be healthy, well fed and comfortable. They want a bunch of crabs in a bucket all fighting each other for a chance to lick boot.

The problem with the US is that the government should serve the people, and it very much does not.

An older good video on how tariffs work (and don't work). The video almost makes it sound like tariffs are a better deal for non-US countries, and perhaps the US imposing tariffs is exactly the kind of excuse those countries might like to have to develop trade networks and domestic production that shifts economic reliance away from the US. The video at one point says that tariffs can be good to prevent your economy from becoming reliant on an unstable country, where you don't want to be reliant on the supply chain. And doesn't it seem like that's the US right now? From that perspective, it almost seems like this is best for everyone except the US.

yep, the effect tarrifs will have is to solidify China as the main trading partner for countries where it isn't already and to give governments the ideal excuse to jack up tariffs for products that are competitive with their own in local markets.

Look, trumpists, it isn't really that hard to guess where this leads.
 
America will become self-sufficient when inflation and the inevitable recession hits within the next 6 months due to letting a petty man do whatever he wants and nobody who could prevent him from doing so.
 
The people who voted for Trump are going to find their trucks are a whole lot more expensive due to hitting Canadian and Mexican goods with a 25% tariff and these countries have responded with a 25% tariff of their own

For example, the sub-assemblies in Ford F-series trucks cross the borders multiple times having value added to them at each step

Each time they cross (either way), there will be a 25% tariff added and that 25% applies to the previously applied tariff amounts, not just the hardware value.

Finally the dealership margins are added on the sum of the product cost, the tariffs, the tariffs on tariffs, the tariffs on tariffs on tariffs etc

Then state sales tax is added on top of all that, so there’s tax on the product cost, the margins, the tariffs, the tariffs on tariffs, the tariffs on tariffs on tariffs etc

A great way to give competitive advantage to vehicles from Japan, South Korea and the EU over "American" brands such as GM, Ford etc and to hurt American workers.

Oh, and didn't Trump put a tariff on Canadian oil products too?

The worst part of this is not only is Canada's "involvement" in fentanyl coming across the account for something like 1-2%, but fentanyl smuggling as a whole is an American-produced crime. We make up 90% of the convictions & we were caught 93% of time at border crossings.
 
So, predictably, the DOW Futures are tanking. I can't wait to see what the market does tomorrow because I suspect it's going to be Free Fallin like Tom Petty.
