The US president had brushed off the sour equity market reaction to his tariffs as being akin to "medicine" that had to be taken. But, as ever, it is the bond markets that have forced Mr Trump to blink.

how many of you did what he offered you....
1) sell high in march
2) bet on a crashing market after the tariff, and gain/profit
3) use that profit to buy a low crashing market
4) within 8 hours with the market gone up... sell high or retain... and profit again for the 3rd time within 1 week.
Billions made.
EDIT: This blatant and flagrant bullying, assault on society, decency and integrity, rules of engagement... clearly none of that matter for such an ever corrupt person, he has nothing to lose, abuse of power and just bulldoze over every gates, to allow them to take over the world.... similar to how back in the old days, you simply just go invade a new territory....
The difference between then and now is: back then, you didn't know any better, you just assume.... but today, it all done with full intention and purpose, they knew exactly what was gonna happen and did what everyone up until now refrain from doing.... who is gonna stop them....

The problem is that the US is the one power that would not immediately get stomped if it's them versus every other country in the world. They'd probably be at a disadvantage, and they'd struggle to maintain for any significant length of time because supply and manufacturing, but they could likely hold their own for a couple years.
And that's assuming that nobody else joins them. Israel will. Depending on how they do it, some of the NATO powers might feel obliged. Japan and South Korea might feel like they have to or risk being immediately occupied from all the US military bases on their soil. Russia might join in if Putin thought it was advantageous.
Hell, depending on who is in government here I wouldn't rule out Australia joining the US in a world war, even one that they started disingenuously.
China is also one of the few countries that could probably cut itself off from all or most external trade and be relatively okay. It'd still be rough, but the sheer size of their territory for raw materials and their manufacturing means that they have ready access to almost everything needed to keep the economy going.
If you're rich and can afford to gamble a bit, or if you have any inside knowledge, then it's a fine opportunity to make a lot of money in a very short amount of time. Or pick up stocks for cheap, if that's your inclination. An extremely random and volatile market is to the benefit of certain types of people who can afford to play those sort of games.

Oh but it's not insider trading. Nope. Nuh uh. Because as Republican Senator John Cornyn pointed out - when stocks are low that's the best time to buy.
The fact the sudden spike happened just before Trump announced the pauses, and not days or weeks before hand, is just a coincidence.
Of course I bet any investigation would show Cornyn doesn't even own any stocks, much less purchased any in the moments before the pause...
It's all above board. Y'all Americans can feel assured that Trump is not running the US Government in a similar crooked fashion as he does his real-estate businesses...

For the record it is absolutely horrible that this case was appealed by the US government to the supreme court on the position that this is NOT what they should do. That the SC says they have to help him come back is only some consolation to the fact that the US government didn't want to.

SC is a joke. They just said they need to not prevent him from coming back, not help or make sure he comes back. So, if the prison wants to hold him there, they will do nothing. If he’s dead, also c’est la vie. They just can’t prevent him getting back if he somehow gets out of the prison alive.
