American Iron - Where the Pony Cars battle it out!Open

Ok, here's the banner for my GT3 Challenge. I managed to find some nice numbers that fitted a pretty fair amount of car choices for a pretty diverse field.
Friday night will be the first ever event and hopefully will be fair, leveled and fun. After this race and some minor eventual technical/organizational touches, I really believe this series can be successful and part of a bigger picture along with the American Iron Series an Reigningblood's and Jake's GT1 Series.
This event was created by me and organized along with Turtle Racing League under my direction. After this experimental event there will be no obligation to keep any sort of partnership with Turtle Racing League.

The "Golden Rule" of Motorsports

"It is the responsibility of the overtaking driver, meaning the car that is attempting to execute the pass, to make sure that the pass is made cleanly and incident free."

If you do not believe this rule applies to you then this league is not for you. You are encouraged to read and adhere to the GTPlanet Online Racing Rules and exercise Good Racecraft at all times, especially in turn 1.

Policies

The First Turn Rule - It is the policy of this league for you to hold your position in turn 1 and not try to improve it unless the following situations occur: 1) The driver directly in front of you is asleep on the start. 2) The driver directly in front of you runs off course with at least 2 wheels off the track. 3) Obvious race incidents that must be avoided. 4) If you are able to fully draft past someone without incident or disruption to the other driver(s) with a reasonable distance before approaching the first turn.

Holding your position in the first turn is limited to the first turn on the first lap. This rule is in place for 2 reason: (1) to effectively avoid incidents in the first turn, and (2) so that drivers who are being careful and doing their part to avoid incidents in the 1st turn of are not taken advantage of. There is no sense in causing an incident in the congestion of the first turn. You can not win the race on the 1st turn or even the 1st lap. If a complaint is filed, the decision we make will be one that promotes an incident free first turn.

Race Incidents

Legitimate complaints are encouraged, they insure a better racing environment for everyone. Complaints should be addressed by "Private Message" to the race steward of the race in which the incident occurred. Please include race number, lap number, and time of incident. A ruling will be announced after a video review by an independent steward. All racing incidents or racing related issues shall be dealt with privately and under no circumstance mentioned publicly.

TURTLE RACING LEAGUE - FLEX RACING SERIES

Good testing last night fellas. If anybody was curious, I had my mic/chat audio all off for a while there as I was trying to focus, so you didn't have to listen to me swear at myself constantly. :)

Yeah, last night was good. The car feels amazing, grippy and fast and listening to Vert and Blood talking settings and tunings is a learning delight.

Yeah, they are way more knowledgable than I can hope to be anytime soon. I like my car, but I feel like I'm not driving it very well. Put down a sub 8 but couldn't repeat....

I am pretty happy that we seem to have all three cars being represented already. That's a good thing.

Yes it is. I'm liking my mustang now even tho the challenger seems faster.. I'll get it wrapped around my head eventually.

I was fiddling around with my weight distribution yesterday. I like the steering reactivity with it forward, but it gets a little tighter in the corner center. I was also fiddling with gearing but can't seem to find any more speed although it improved my braking ability. I dunno, I think I don't adapt very quickly to changes, or maybe I was listening too much and not focused on learning about my car.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I'm glad to share knowledge any time to help some one have a better race night. I don't know everything but, this is just simple geometry and physics to me. I am totally willing to help if you catch me in a room. I have a lot going on on PSN between GT6 and Battlefield 4 but, as Jake knows I feel that we're all friends here until all the red lights go out. That's when I don my Gladiator Armor!

I normally won't suggest this but, take your car to the garage, test drive, go to the track you wish to tune for. Before you do anything, run the car for about 5 to 10 laps. Click on "save best lap replay". Make only 1 adjustment at a time until you get the car to be quicker(some changes may feel slower but the lap times don't lie). In between each adjustment give yourself enough time to get used to the change. Once you have the car in a better way, this is now your "base" tune. Now move over to an online room. You'll find that the car will act very loose due to tire wear, internet connections, etc. This now should allow you to fine tune a bit with the dynamics of being online. I little secret here that I learned from tuning real life SCCA and IMSA cars for FR drivetrains is get the front end of the car to work first before you start "unhooking" the rear. I know this all sounds like a lot of work but, at the end of it you'll have a better grasp on the car I promise.
I'm about to open an open to the public GT-1 series club lobby room for anyone who can get online in ten minutes. I'll be focusing on Laguna Seca for the American Iron/ Tokyo R246 reverse for GT-1/ and Mt Panarama bathhurst for GT3. All are welcome and I'll help with whatever I can.
room number is 1472-4711-0038-4890-4140

@reigninblood Thanks for the advice. This does seem kinda strange cuz I've always steered away from practicing offline, but I see what you're getting at.

Looking forward to race day :)
I only use this method when starting out with a new car. It works well enough to "learn" a car's problematic areas faster without chasing after constantly changing grip. I'm like you in that I do 99% of my practicing and fine tuning online. Good luck and I'll see you race day.

He'll mine feels like it's glued to the track.
I don't know if I like that...

One silly question... who's racing next saturday? I know there will me, Lessen, Blood, Jake, Vert, Chevron and Vertigo but there's more people, I believe...

Did anybody actually put in a qualifying time? I forgot to look if the event was even there... Oh well.

I think we have at least 6 or 7 maybe for tonight.

We have 7. But with the update I forgot to reset the TT. We will just run a 10 minutes qualifying session in the room. I'd like to start racing at 930pm EST. So I will open the room around 845pm.
