An idea for GT6 Dealerships

I thougt this is a simple but great idea, I just hated buying cars (specially when going for the paintchips, I hate that too) and being kicked back to the menu, english it's not my main language so i'll try to be as clear as possible, so let me try to explain, first here is a screenshot:

qsa5uc.png

When you push select this "menu" pops up, pressing it again will hide the menu, when you press select the cursor goes over check list, push it and it goes to the check boxes where you can check or uncheck cars manually or all of them at once (I forgot to add a checkbox for this one,) the prices would adjust accordingly by doing so, i was thinking of having ten cars per "page," a little arrow will appear under the 10th car indicating when you can switch to the next page, pushing L1 or R1 will skip to the previous or next page respectively, pushing circle will take the cursor back to the checklist, from there you can press down to go to recipe, push x and the cursor will go to confirm and from there just choose the option you want after the purchase, another pop up will show the list with the cars added to your garage, in this menu you can choose to continue with your shopping, go back to the menu, or go to the garage.

what do you guys think?

Definitely a more efficient way of buying multiple cars, and it's an addition I would welcome to GT6.
I also hope they get rid of the 'delivery truck' thing when you receive a prize car as it's just unnecessary.

I've been advocating this idea for a long time, but it should be available for all aspects of the game, especially adding tuning parts. Everything should be checklisted. I should be able to check off all tuning items one at a time, see what affect they have on the HP/PP/Weight etc. as I check and uncheck certain items, and then hit one "install" button and have everything added to the car at once. There's simply no need for all the silly animations and button pressing that PD makes you go through. Animations should be toggled on and off. As you complete each menu you should have an option as to where you want to go as well. Back to the garage, to the Dealerships, to the main menu etc. GT is about as user friendly as 1993 Motorola cellphone in this day and age.

Impressive idea, i doubt PD will implement it though, we all know PD wants us to feel "Excitement" when we buy every car in a GT game, i welcome this option with open arms.

Indeed. If I want stage 3 weight reduction having to apply stage 1 and 2 first is moronic.

Honestly, without silly systems like paint chips and the UCD, there's no need to buy multiple cars. Want to drive a car you don't have? Go buy it. Don't need it right now? Don't buy it yet.

Buying any single car should be a matter of a few clicks, and should be possible at pretty much any time. The only difference is if it's in your garage or not. If it takes you as long to change cars in your garage as it does to buy a new car, there's really no benefit.

Of course, having super-slow menus is another incentive to get all your car buying over and done with in one fell swoop, but that's a different thing.

Edit: I do support something like this for tuning parts though. Bulk purchases are common and necessary.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who's decided to buy a few cars at the same time in GT5, it takes way too long. The last time I tried to bulk out my premium cars it was taking me 2+ minutes per car, even though I knew exactly what to look for. I honestly think just streamlining all the menu interfaces would reduce* many people's frustration with GT.

*I do mean reduce, I know a lot of people have many other complaints that are valid to varying degrees.

This. I like the cutscene when you buy a new car in GT5 but it gets old after you've got your 10th car or so.

Something like this would be great, and for parts too as JohnnyP says. The performance parts buying in GT5 is fairly streamlined though, so I'm not nearly as bothered with it, especially when you do it from your garage. I'm one of those silly guys who still goes to GT Auto sometimes, or whatever it is, just to hear that funky bass driven music. :D

If buying cars was like buying car parts, and you could do it all within the dealerships, that would be enough for me. But this would definitely be cool.

This wouldn't have been possible on GT5 because of the retarded 20-mil cap. Your hypothetical order is almost double the maximum credits DP allowed at one time.

You know, there were seriously folks who defended the credit cap. They made up excuses like "I like how they make us spend our money instead of hording it" or "You shouldn't need more than 20 million anyway."

This. I like the cutscene when you buy a new car in GT5 but it gets old after you've got your 10th car or so.

If we're talking about the creep-two-inches-from-the-shadows animation, that wasn't much of an animation, and it got old very, very fast.

Could you imagine game shows having such presentation for prizes? You're playing the game show and have a chance at a suite case filled with half a million dollars. Rather than having flashing lights, exciting music, and the announcer enthusiastically mentioning the half-million-dollar prize, they instead just have it setting on a gray table and have a frowning woman scoot it forward a few inches with no fanfare of any kind.

Well gameshows with that kind of presentation of prizes would suck really badly. I think the animation that PD chose for receiving a car you just bought doesn't work really well. The only case where it would work is when you receive a car gift ticket and you don't know what the car you're receiving is until it drives out into the light (which gives it some sense of mystery).

The key thing is to put a toggle switch in to turn animations on and off. Options are king. If you like them leave them on, if not, turn them off, everyone wins.

this, there should be an option to toggle on and off the animation, it's a simple option that saves you a lot of time.

Also this isn't a replacement for the current system, if you want you can buy cars one by one, and I also like the animation, the one in GT4 was great, because it was simple, looked good and was quick, i also liked the animation for the prize cars, and GT5 took out that "mistery" by letting you know what car you got in the ticket and as MSTER232 said, the animation gets old fast, and it takes too much button press in my opinion

I thought about this when filling my garage with premiums in order by manufacturer, other gripe i have with the garage menu is that it doesn't remember the order you sort the cars, when you choose to have it sorted by manufacturer or whatever and it doesn't let you alocate cars as you want (my favorites list is a mess,) so back to the point, I had 20,000,000 and then i started buying cars, it took me a loooooot of time to spend it, unless it was a 20,000,000 car of course, in resume i have a lot of gripes with pretty much the entire menu system of the game, and it's a shame because a few tweaks could make it better, paint chips? add a paint shop, don't like to have every paint unlocked from the beginning? then when you get a new or special color, it unlocks in the paint shop for you to buy, simple things like this would make the experience better, since, like many others, i spend a lot of time in the menu, functionality PD, FUNCTIONALITY!

The suggestion in the OP would be better than what we now have but I would rather see it a bit different which would be quicker for the user and easier to code so easier for PD as well.

Go to the dealership, select the car you want to buy, the game could prompt you to get in the car but not needed really, after you buy the car the game returns to the same dealership you just purchased the car from so you can buy more cars from there or back up to the dealership selection page and choose another dealer. Alternately when you purchase a car the game could prompt you "Do you wish to buy another car? "This dealer, a different dealer, not at this time" and the game would based on the selection return to the showroom of that dealer, move to the dealership selection screen, go to the GT home page.

From a coding standpoint these types of things would be very simple and would be more user friendly for those of us who may want to buy more than one car at a time.

Are you trying make a Gran Turismo sandwich using these cars as ingredients?

It's spelled receipt not recipe.

hahaha oops, as i said english is not my first language.
HBR-Roadhog I like that one, I don't like to get kicked back to the main menu after buying a car, and is also a simple and fast way to buy cars, the idea of this thing is having a shortcut button, square for example to select cars so you go through the cars you like, push square and they get added to the cart, then push select to open the "recipe," same goes for selling multiple cars or buying tunning parts, or for the (I hope they put it into the game) paint shop.

The menus absolutely need to be streamlined. Checklists need to happen, and especially being able to "buy all" within the tuning menu for each category. GT6 needs less needless button clicking, and no timewasting animations.

im pretty sure that tuning shop was never touched once you could buy parts in menu before a race XD

It was necessary for engine tuning, and weight reduction.

I would like something like the OP suggests, but only if two other options can be bought at the same time...

1) Initial Oil Change
2) Run-in included (or get rid of the bl#*$y thing!)

If I have to buy them, then go to GT Auto again for each car, the "bulk buy"-option is not a lot of good as I would have to get into each car again to get the oil changed anyway.

Or maybe you could incorporate oil change as a bulk-option in the garage...?

That is a great common sense idea, of which kind is sadly lacking over at Polyphony Digital. 👍

If these options were in a setup menu where you could just toggle it on an off automatically for every purchase that would be great. Imagine the horror though, if B-Spec is gone and break in period remains, meaning you'd have to drive every car 300 km, with tire wear on, before it was broke in. Chaos!!

This is what really annoyed me. It was a fantastic addition to allow in race tuning in the settings menu, but why the hell do you not allow engine tuning and weight reduction? Makes no sense... So half-assed but not even really -- just a poor decision.

Tuning shop is fine to keep but I never use it unless I'm either forced to because of the above or if I buy a car specifically to make into a tuner and load all the parts into it right away. Allowing parts to be purchased in the settings menu changed the dynamic of GT5 for me -- honestly it's more of a feature that should be there than something that was innovative, but I'm glad they included it (but why half assed who knows...).

Yes please, the same needs to be done with tuning and the option for oil change as has been mentioned. PD need to let go of the past in this regard. User friendly UI should be a top priority.
