Another car to vote for

I voted for the M3. I would have voted for the McLaren, but I don't have it yet. I guess I could try to win it in time, but my girlfriend has severly cut down my GT4 time lately. I still haven't gotten a max drive so I can't pluck it off one of the uber-saves, but she has less control over my money than my time.

Whichever car wins, I agree with Kent, the car should match the course. If its the McLaren, I hope it is on a big open course.

Hey Neil, I see you moved to Shhmokin, where exactly is that in England....the Lake District?

Very close guess Andy,

Carlisle is the place that i live, 10 miles SOUTH of the scotish border, 20ish miles north of the lake district.

It's a fairly peaceful city, a 'tomorrows another day' kind of place, clean air, 5 mins till green-fields (walking from my house), but big enough to have all the usual shops and amenities, basically a nice place to live!

Very laid-back, it suits my style!

Last time in England we stayed a night in a town named Cockermouth, I think about 30 miles south of Scotland....absolutly beautiful area.

Back on subject, Kent's remarks on track preferences for each car makes lots of practical sense.....not that I'm surprised Kent, I just never thought about it. I favor the Cote or SS reverse.

Actually you managed to find the nicest town in the west cumbrian area, the other's are workington, aspatria, barrow, dalton (these are not nice, in-fact total s**t-holes)
And thankfully I managed to get my fiance out of barrow and up to Carlisle, so i have rescued her really.

But Cockermouth has a local name, Knob-in-gob!:D

I voted for the M3GTR, as it is one of my fav. cars in the game and would love to see Laguna as the track selection, even though the McLaren F1 would be an ideal choice for this track as well!

McLaren @ Laguna Seca 👍
Arcade Mode, possibly.

McLaren: because it's not a car that you get to use too often.
Laguna Seca: because it's one of my favorite tracks.

If not, I still think that a car like that needs a wide, open race track.

So, for me, no city courses, no rally courses (tarmac), nothing with walls.

ooh! ooh! ooh! Finally a Bimmer!

I'll vote M3 GTR just because it's one of my favorites in the game and RL. But like everyone else has said, this is a street fighter. It really shines with walls all around it. Cote or New York would be fun, Opera Paris is the most fun! In arcade, because it's really hard to improve on the car in GT mode, and with stock HP, because the car is perfectly power balanced as is. 👍

The McLaren would be cool at the Fuji 80's track......the old one with no chicanes. It would be interesting holding that beast around that last fast sweeper. :sly: But Laguna is also a big 👍 . In arcade.

The 320 at just about any track is good. As long as it isn't a long legs track. Apricot Hills is a nice fit for it. In arcade again, but with full power adjustment.

The McLaren is also a blast to drive on Circuit de LaSarthe II - I gave it a go earlier 👍

Anyway, I wouldn't mind the M3 GTR either, as long as it is a track from the World Circuits (please  ), with NO walls... :D

Glad to see we all have some constructive input. 👍

Last minute suggestions here (I know it's too late to make a difference)...

M3 GTR @ Laguna Seca

320 @ "one of the small suzukas"

McLaren @ Grand Valley

Those are my suggestions for races that might actually work well for most people (although the McLaren defies that concept all the time 👎 ).

Later. :D

Actually I tried the McLaren at the Nurb last night, (in arcade, full tune, R5) and I am in awe of the challenge! I kept running faster and faster with each lap. This car seems to get better the more you push it.(until you hit the wrong curb.:sly: ) The handling is just SO quick. The powerband so strong. I got down to a 5'33 lap with one off, but I firmly believe there is much more to be had. I still don't think I got the most out of it in the section following karussell which is always a tricky section for me. But anyway, thanks for the heads up on this car Kent. It really is a jewel. 👍

Can't wait to do the nurb in WRS again. I think I'm starting to become obsessed with the track. It's the only one I feel like driving lately.

Excellent. 👍

Both the car and track are fun all the time (if you are ready for the challenge).

I know there is plenty of time in that lap.
I just managed to finish a clean one faster than my previous and settled on it. Rarely do I find someone who actually wants to keep working on that lap.

Glad to see you enjoyed it though. Keep me informed on your progress, I just may have to run it again sometime soon. :D

Later.

btw,
Regarding the subject of the thread... I've said what I can, I leave it to flat-out now. :P

I'm sure he has something in store for us. :mischievous:
(not even sure I can race it though :(
School starts this week :yuck: )

Indeed, if SSR11 was still around I would have suggested that for sure.

My chief concern is seeing that the track is matched to the car. 👍
the car well...
[...]
For example, NielsG (who I am glad to see in here) suggested "AH" or "GV."
Both are great tracks, but both of those I see as better tracks for the McLaren.

The M3 though, I see "walled-in" tracks and tight medium/ low-speed turns.

The course we use will be the most important thing about this race.

Either car could be made or ruined by the track.
Too big and open for the M3 and there will be no challenge... Too tight and confined and the McLaren will be frustrating.

It's gonna be a hard pick (especially with such nice cars).

So good luck flat-out. 👍
Agreed! I loved the SSR tracks... The M3 would be good almost anywhere, but I'd like the challenge of the McLaren... Personally, I'd freaking LOVE it around GV or AH... :sly:

I'm up for anything though, well, the 320 seems a little too little. And, I'll prefer nothing more than R3 tires on the M3, and R4 tires on the McLaren... Less tire is welcome on all of the cars...

Well,
At this point I am just wondering how we ended up with a Ford GT.

Kinda disappoints me since I know it means we will not see the McLaren any time soon (cars are just too similar with 600+ hp and MR drivetrain). :(

:(
Oh well. :indiff:

Where's the problem with the fact that the cars are similar ?
If the McLaren is chosen for week 42, we'll use it.
It's just a matter of choosing a track different from Fuji and a different configuration.
Perhaps people will be disappointed by Fuji and will massively vote for the McLaren.

Awe, don't mind me cyril (if I may call you that). :sly:

I was dumb enough not to even mind the weeks involved, just heard McLaren and got silly. :dopey: :dunce:

McLaren
M3 GTR

BMW is the name of the game for this poll.
Best Machine Wins?
Bliss Must Wait? :(
Both Match Well? :dopey:
Back Massages Work? :sly:
Better Man's Will?
Banks May Wane? :scared:
Banks May Wax? :mischievous:

Whatever it is, I'm sure I will like it. :D

OK, next week we'll be using the BMW M3 GTR Race Car '01, and we'll see if we have as many submissions as votes in this poll :D
