Another win for Schumacher...what else is new?

Is it just me or is it kind of suspicious that Schumacher has set record after record after record, and is now approaching the likes of Alain Prost in terms of career wins and longest career win differences. (or some crap like that) I dont mean to one of those conspiracy theorists, or to arouse any conspiracy theorists, but don't you think its just a little odd how amazing this man is? 2:49AM, Schumacher 1rst place, Ralph in second, approx. 20 seconds behind. 7 laps left.

Tom Coronel pointed something out, maybe someone here can explain. You saw Sato put his hand to his helmet to support his neck and because his old shoulder injury was bothering him. But at one point when the camera was on him, he put his right hand to support his helmet on the right side coming out of a turn, but he upshifted no less than 2 gears. Since normally upgearing happens with the paddle on the right side of the wheel, I wonder what happens here. Is he left handed and does he have the paddles reversed? Surely he can't do anything else weird because its hard enough to hold the wheel with just one hand? Is there a sneaky AT installed? :D What's going on?

what if senna was still around?

could that've been a part of the schumi domination conspiracy as well?

Schumacher owns all F1 records except for Senna's number of pole positions (and he'll get that in the next few races)

All-time F1 records
after Italian GP 2004
Most championship titles (7)
Most fastest laps (65)
Most wins (82)
Most wins in a season (12) (thusfar in 2004)
Most podiums (136)
Most second places (36)
Most championship points (1,174)

Record to beat: Ayrton Senna's 65 pole positions. (He had 62 after Italy)

And the topic ruins the race for those that haven't seen it. Nice one. 👍

I agree, he is a great driver but his domination is spoiling the sport for me.

I feel part of his success is partially due to lack of quality opposition over the past years. In the past we had the likes of Senna, Prost, Mansell, Piqeut all at the same time. During Schumacher's career I don't think he has had much in the way of a consistent challenger. Sure there were flashes from Hill, Hakkinen and Villneuve but they are not around today.

Arwen: You can upshift with your left hand. I can't remember... but either there's a second paddle behind the left side of the wheel or you push the downshift paddle away to upshift.

Actually there are 4 paddles behind the steering wheel as seen here.
I belive that the ones above are used for up shifting and the ones below for down shifting. In other words it is possible to shift gears on both sides of the wheel.

In some cases you can't shift with your left hand so you use the right hand to shift and vice versa.

Don´t worry, Nelson Piquet Jr. is coming. :)

I remember reading or hearing something while at Indy this year that the BAR's paddle shifts are both set to up or downshift. The wheel can be setup as as;

1) r/l = down/up (or vis versa)
2 pull toward driver up/down shift or push away with finger tips up or down (can be set for both sides to be the same)

So I assume satosan had the #2 option where each side does both if needed. I remember the reaosn for this was that the drivers have their hands off the wheel more often adjusting the car/brakes. This is another of the BAR tweaks that then have been pushing all year.

I'm pretty sure the top paddles are connected i.e. if you pull on the right, the left side will go down, so you can pull the right to upshift, or push the left and vice versa for downshifting. The lower paddles are for the clutch.

But it's such an important law that is exists as the unspoken 4th law too.

Fourth Law? I see only three, of which the offending post violated the second...

No, that's something else.

Pupik's First Law:
All things are impermanent, including impermanence.

Pupik's Second Law:
Where wherever you go, there you are.

Pupik's Third Law:
Red things are always faster.

Pupik's Fifth Law:
49.995% of the time the coin lands on heads. 49.995% of the time the coin lands on tails. The other 0.01% of the time, it lands squarely on the edge of the coin, and messes all predictions up.

Well, those laws, at least.

Actually, ALL steering wheels are different. Not only on teams, but even their drivers. the driver designs his own steering wheel and then they make it to his specifications for optimal performance. the BMW Williams F1 ones have 3 paddles.

About the spoiler...I dont think its much of a spoiler seeing as M. Schumacher tends to follow a pattern with his racing. (ie. winning...no big surprise)

He just has amazing skills behind an F1 car, simple.

Too bad he cant drive a normal car.

Even if he does win almost every race, it is still a spoiler by posting a thread in this forum with a title like that. There also was already a thread on Suzuka.

Yes, but if we allow exceptions to that, then we'd have to allow exceptions to the thread titles if he didn't win.

Just admit it, nobody likes a "spoiler." I made the rule rather clear, everyone's kept to it so far, so I'm just asking that you don't do it again. Besides, nobody likes spoilers in the titles of any forum...it's pretty much bad taste, like typing in ALL CAPS or repeatedly posting images that have no relevance.

Kokomo is a song by The Beach Boys...i always thought Kokomo was a place in Hawaii...not indiana. :dunce:

'fraid not... it's located in Indiana. Supposely, Kokomo is where the first car was invented at Haynes Apperson International. Whether it's true or not, I'm not sure. Just a bit of history. Just one of the many reasons the city is called "City of Firsts".
