As the title says. I was surprised at the lack of talk about boxing on here, aside from the odd thread for the big fights there's nothing really. Maybe it's just more popular on this side of the pond đź’ˇ Anyways, I've been boxing at my local club for a few months now (in total, took a break for personal problems over the winter and I've been back for about 3 weeks, 4 after Thursday's session) and I'm doing quite well for the time I've spent training. I'd be interested to hear how others are getting on and people's opinions of the sport in general đź‘Ť.

Me too, hence why I created this one. I think it's probably to do with the fact that quite a few sports talked about in this sub-forum are American and boxing doesn't seem to have the same level of popularity over there.

Looking forward to Brook - Hatton next weekend, I imagine it'll be an explosive fight. Not a boxer myself but my mate from college is doing well for himself with it!

Who are the good boxers now? Seems like there's no one left since Calzaghe retired. I used to watch Boxing with my grandma until she died a few years ago.

I'm not too knowledgeable when it comes to boxers, but the Klitschko's, Wladimir and Vitali, Hold all the world heavyweight belts between them, and as far as I'm aware there isn't really anyone at their level currently. I haven't watched enough of the other divisions to really say who's good and who isn't, so maybe someone else could fill us in on that.

Klitschko fights are SO boring though. "Wlady! Jab to victory!"

Keep an eye out for Tyson Fury. All his fights so far have been shown on Channel 5 (Terrestrial channel). He best Chisora, who later put up a respectable fight against Vitali, last year and will almost certainly challenge for the world title eventually.

Yeah, they are boring . You can't deny their skill though, Wladimir has 50 KO's to his name from 57 wins and only 3 losses, while Vitaly has 40 KO's from 44 wins and just 2 losses. They aren't exciting to watch but they are damn good boxers, plus they're two of the most respectful people in the sport today đź‘Ť.

I still think Fury has a long way to go yet. Chisora was in horrible shape against Fury. If he was in the form he was against Vitaly, I reckon he would have beaten him. Plus there's the infamous video of Fury punching himself in the face, which doesn't help his reputation . but I do think he could get there one day, unlike most who disregard him because of the aforementioned video. Another contender to watch is David Price, I haven't seen much of him but he looks to be one of the best British contenders who hasn't lost his licence due to brawling :sly:. Plus as an amateur he defeated Fury, who refused to fight him recently and gave up his belt to avoid the fight.

Very big boxing fan here, can't wait for mayweather v cotto, plus the rematch between Khan and Peterson

Mayweather Win v Cotto (Will just be far too slick)
Would like to see Peterson win again, Khan is too damn cocky!

Khan's the guy that was in Roach's stable, right? Is he the next big thing now? What's the boxing world look like now?

Yeh Khan is with Freddie Roach these days training with Pacquiao (or however you spell it) .

Khan is supposedly the next big thing, with Golden boy promoting him but I guess we will see after his rematch with Lamont Peterson

Mayweather is still in my opinion the best fighter out there along with pacquiao, we just need to see those two get in the ring once and for all. Would be the biggest pay per view in boxing history.

Heavyweight's are just boring, Klitschkos pretty much dominate it. Haye shook it up abit before his loss to Vladimir Klitschko, now its just boring old Klitschko brothers again fighting schmucks. Hopefully Haye will come out of retirement and fight Vitali.

Bernard Hopkins, the oldest confirmed title holder in Boxing history, at age 47, lost his WBC Light Heavyweight title last week against Chad Dawson in what has to be one of the sloppiest matches that I have ever seen last week. I'll admit that I have never seen a Hopkins' fight, but if you ever want to put on a clinic as to how to, a, not call a match, and b, box a match, you looked at it there.

Although that Heavyweight undercard bout was a show stealer.

Anyone watching the Haye Chisora fight later ? I'm going for a Haye points win, with all the build up I hope it isn't going toe disappoint.
