Any good gaming laptops like Alienware?

A guy at work has an MSI gaming laptop, it has a 980M (I believe) and, for some reason, three M.2 SATA SSDs in Raid 0... I have no idea what it cost him - I suspect he may have had an extra arm and leg going spare - but it seems pretty nice. He brought it in to show me Star Citizen, which as far as I know is kind of hard to run even on a desktop, and managed to get it going at about 20fps.

Of course now that you can get proper actual desktop GPUs in laptops he's kicking himself, but that's progress for you.

Oh, good, you didn't get an Alienware at least. Generally, they seem to be trash products and I've never met someone happy with their Alienware purchase after the span of a year.
Try 6 months. Ours required a re-install of the OS after 6 months, then a new HDD (we replaced it with an SSD) after 2 years. It constantly has issues with connecting to wi-fi, sometimes refuses to boot and drains the battery within 10 minutes when asleep and not plugged in. Never again. Luckily we got it at a massively reduced price in the first place.

...and now you know why the price was so massively reduced.

I feel sorry for the people who paid full price for the same model though!

Makes me sad a bit. I remember when Alienware was the end all be all. Then Dell happened... Now Dell just took over EMC, and I am wondering how much longer our storage systems are going to be running! Not looking forward to the day we have to try and recover 50PB of data...
