Hi guys, I am new to the forum. Nice to meet you guys.

Currently I am struggling on choosing a good starting point on sim racing but will wait for the black Friday sales to get one (Need to get some ideas :D).

I found that the Fanatec CSL Elite starter bundle should fit my requirement.

Also, I am interested about the 10NM compact DD from SIM-PLICITY.

Should I save a bit more to get the DD build?

As I am ready to get into the DD eco-system, should I just get the CSL bundle or save a bit more for the upgradable DD build?

Many thanks!

Its wholly dependant on what platform you play on, which games, if you prefer plug and play or want to upgrade in the future.

Hello Pocket, thanks for your reply!

In my case, I want to have it for my PC and want to upgrade in the future in this rig.

The plug and play features is not a necessity and I can play around with the settings.

Just want to make sure the money is spent on the right way.

Fanatec is a global company that provides service and warranty. Any DD from a smaller company will come with some restrictions on service and warranty if you do not know what you are doing. If you have knowledge in engineering I would go the simplicity route, which gives you much more freedom for an affordable price. Personally I prefer an ecosystem.

I'll be honest and say that this sounds strange. It may not be so easy to set up as Fanatec but knowledge in engineering is exaggerated.
For me, the Fanatec steering wheel tuning menu with which you can change the settings is very valuable, almost priceless.

I meant to say some knowledge. Remember there are people out there that arent very skilled at all.

Have you looked into the Logitech G29 at all? Compatible with PC (along with other consoles if you get something like the Drive Hub adapter), plug and play, great build quality, comes with solid wheel and pedals and a shifter can be bought too at a nice price. Everything would cost around $250 or so and you’d have a setup that could last years, and it leaves you with a few hundred if you want a rig. I’ve been using a G27 since 2013 and it’s held up phenomenally ever since even with heavy usage (weekly racing leagues, endurance races, etc.) It’s a great beginners wheel since you’re getting a legit and durable setup that’s easy to use but it doesn’t break the bank. I do like Fanatec and will probably upgrade based on want rather than need to them eventually, but I feel that their sets are better for more advanced and hardcore sim racers whereas Logitech is better for beginners to get into the hobby, and if you’re going to get Fanatec you’d probably be better off getting one of their higher end setups but that’d cost a pretty good amount.

Yes, I have done some research on those two which I think the G29's pedal is better than the Fanatec but the wheels base Fanatec did a great job on it.

Not to mention the G29 still using the G27 old tech and the torque difference.

I have also tried the G29, the handling is not that good for me.

For now, I will consider Fanatec or other DD product only.

I've tried both sets of pedals(G29 and CSL Elite pedals). The Fanatec pedals have fully metal and much more robust construction, also the size of the pedals is larger and more realistic. The only thing more that can be desired from the CSL Elite pedals is a more reliable potentiometers.

I see, seems CSL elite would be my first choice.

Do you have any comment on the MIGE DD setup like SW7C/10C?

Cause I dont have a chance to tell the differences between belt drive and direct drive.

If we speak for DD vs belt - long story short - every DD is better from any belt driven wheel... I love my CSL wheel and my Fanatec setup, but as my SW7C is permanently mounted on my main rig that answers what I preffer!;))) And also no matter that on paper CSL is stronger almost like SW7C - the DD feels stronger, because is faster!;)
