Don't know about you, but I got tired of driving cars in GT5P with 85% their original horsepower and 15% more weight which makes them drive nothing like they should

Any ideas?

Well maybe something like in NFS Shift that you can't downgrade your car or the host can set a manufacturer event and everybody has the same car.

One make races is a good idea and should be an online mode, but would get old after a while so there needs to be more.

the GT5P pp system is a weak way to solve the problem and ruins the realism

Maybe PD can classify all the cars depending on their performance

NASCAR
Rally
Prototype
GT1
A+
A
A-
B+
B
etc etc

Cars that fall into the 'A' category all are within a second or two of eachother. To equalize the performance one car should get softer tires. If the tire difference has to exceed 1 compound in order for the cars to be equal then the car belongs in a difference class. For example if one car has S3 tires and the other has to have S1 tires for a fair race these cars should not be in the same class. If two cars run equally with one on S2 tires and the other on S3 tires then they should be in the same class.

That way when someone sets up an online room they can say "B+" cars only. You look through your garage and find a car that is rated as B+ and enter the event.

Just something I thought up real qucick

I doubt GT5 will have a Power Points system, at least not in GT Mode. I think with Kaz talking about all the customization that you can do to your cars, I think it will be like the old GTs (obviously with more options though) with the engine, transmission, etc. upgrades and you will have to pay for them. In GT5P, you just move the sliders to increase power and decrease weight and it's free. When did a full GT game EVER give you extra power or less weight for free? I'm gonna go with never. And I doubt GT5 will be the first.

How so? Power and weight are messed with in real racing. And cars can be modified to fit certain rules. The Viper had to lose its V-10 for a V-8 to be eligible in some series. Nothing's wrong with PP, though it shouldn't be the only option.

That's exactly like PP, except you're restricting tuning to tires only.

I haven't played the newer game, but forza1 pretty well had the class system nailed. I'm pretty sure it only cared about hp, weight and grip.
I had so much fun tuning and re-racing the 'd' class races in forza1, I mostly stopped progressing in the game.

the up side to the pp system isn't for users (I'm guessing we won't have it). by my logic, something like the PP system might really for the AI in the future. It should be pretty easy to look at your car's pp rating and tune the AI pack accordingly. if done right it will be pretty tough to simply upgrade/buy your way out of races. does GTPSP have anything like this in it? I don't believe the gt4 ai cars tuned at all.
