since cockpit is the hardest view and all others are easier to drive in is using any thing other than the cockpit view basically cheating?:nervous:

No.

And difficulty depends on the individual too. I find it much harder to drive using the chase cam than I do using the cockpit view, but that doesn't mean I'm cheating by using a view I find easier to drive with.

Since driving blindfolded is the hardest view and all others are easier to drive in, is using any thing other than the blindfolded view basically cheating?

 Well actually driving blindfolded while handcuffed is more challenging, you are actually cheating.

Similarly to posts above me, the view you use is simply a preference you choose and is not at all cheating.

I use cockpit when I'm racing with other cars (AI or otherwise).

I use roofcam or bumpercam when I'm doing TTs.

It isn't cheating.

I wouldn't classify using any other view other than the cockpit view as cheating, because each and every player is entitled to use whatever view they prefer. It would be nice if cockpit view was the only available option (but I don't see that happening), especially if PD is able to improve the panning in the cockpit view. I use the bumper cam as most do, but this is obviously not the most realistic view for a number of reasons. I mean you're supposed to be driving the car from inside the car positioned on a seat...not hanging off the front bumper of the car with the steering wheels behind you :odd:

Cockpit view is not realistic unless you have a big screen, and also it is harder to drive too. I've tried a 30" PC monitor and I can say it looks and feels very realistic and easy to play. The bamper cam this time feels weird as you are too close to the road.

Was discussing this last night with a mate. He prefers the roof cam and can set faster times and attain higher drift scores with this view compared to any other.

I always use in-car, so for me to use roof cam or bumper cam it makes it harder for me. SO, to answer the question, No, it's not cheating. Some may say that in-car is the hardest view but any view other than the one you prefer the most is harder. (if that makes sense).

up until GT5P I was an outside view guy.... I always drifted in GT and liked to see the car slide lol.... But now.... its cockpit all the way no other for me.

However I don't think the other views are cheating.

That is OH SO NOT THE CASE!...

My roommate has a 63" Samsung TV w/their PS3 (Among other things) hooked up to it and playing GT5:P w/cockpit view really does take some getting used to, but regardless of size of TV, it really depends on how close you sit to the TV/monitor as to what looks 'realistic'.

A few times, I had to resort to bumper cam view just to ensure I was hitting my braking points correctly, as in cockpit view, I was severely over-shooting them. Of course, having played GT3 & 4 from this view over the years, it's not like racing in cockpit view is 'just like everyday driving'.

One thing that is sorta 'skewed' is the side mirrors not being viewable, as well as the rear-view-mirror not always being shown entirely.

But damn..I do love the interior views...and being in the F430 and looking 'behind me' and seeing that engine bay....:dopey:...damn!

63" is way too big and in that case it is also unrealistic, more so if you stay up close. The screen indeally should resemble real life windscreen, that's what I meant. 32" is just right if you stay close to the TV.

Since when did driving cockpit become more difficult? This thread holds no value at all!

cockpit view is like driving from the backseat in real life, the closest to reality is a hood view wich the game lacks with it's ridiculous rally-inspired roof camera.

It really depends on the person I guess, I personally use the cockpit view with all aids off, professional physics and manual trans and if I try to go back with aids on and chase view I will have a much harder time Really stretching my legs so to speak, and in turn, will get worse times.

For me bumper and Cockpit view are easiest.. to drive with. But somehow I feel more confident in Cockpit view because I am almost at center of the car, seems i get more feeling of how the car behaves, in bumper view, the camera is all teh way to the front, it just feels odd when trying to turn or drift sometimes. Wait till we get EYE TOY integration ;)
