Florida just recently bought a huge amount of Chevy Camaro SS's. I was just wondering if anyone else has them flaoting around their state.

From what I understand they are supercharged, w/ an intercooler. I have seen a couple of them jump on the gas, and before you know it, the car is gone.

Here is a picture:

Yeah, California has had them for about a year now.

Ours are "sneakier" though... they are completely white with few markings (and i think no front bumper thingie), and they have low profile lights (only 2 inches high)... so far though, they've been used mostly to catch fast 18-wheelers, thank goodness! I've read of stories where people passed those cops without even knowing they had passed a CHP car until they got pulled over. Ouch.

Ohhhh yes. In houston, i see them all the time. They are not state troopers tho, they are Harris County sheriffs. The state trooper 'specialty' vehicle or whatever is a Chevy 1500.

They used to run WRX STis for a while here in my suburb and city, but then they took them back out because too many coppers just just doing burnouts in them...they have VYs, VXs, and AU police cars here...no BAs yet...

Over here we have a few mid-90's Porsche 911 cop cars driving around. The rest are mainly Volvo's and VW's.

Ok! I was wrong! :banghead: For some reason I thought they had hood scoops on them. I passed one today on the way to work, and saw it didn't have a hood scoop. :banghead:

My imagination getting the best of me I guess.

Yeah, I've noticed a few, mainly on the Turnpike System...so watch out, Magic!

They've got to buy up the remaining Camaros somehow!

Our cops have Camaros and Crown Vics, but I've been noticing a strange influx of Chevy Tahoes, Ford Explorers, and even a few Dodge Durangos. :odd:

Around here, I have seen so many different cars. But nothing fast. But I've seen everything from Durango's Impala's, Crown Vic's, GMC Safari's, Cherokee's and even a new Chev Avalanche.

Here in Calgary we have the Calgary Police. But rural Canada has the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) and they drive Camaro SS' just like that one. Mind you they also have Beetles and PT Cruisers, but they are for "show" yeah right!

Orange County (Florida) just bought a huge amount of Intrepid's for their new cop cars. They look :odd: as cop cars. Reminds me of the TV show "Viper." All the cop cars in the show were Intrepids. I will try to find a pic.

They also have a good amount of F-150's 4x4 running around.

When i lived in Houston, I saw a few Camaro Police cars, although i never saw one chasing anyone. There is also an expedition police car(truck) that is really had to pick out from traffic until you are right next to it. Houston has trucks similar to the F150 above, except they seem to be used more by the fire department than the police .

That Viper looks very fake. I mean, if they kept it unmarked, wouldn't they have a little siren to put in the car?

i saw a camaro in the florida state trooper scheme on my way down to key west last august. it was on one of the first islands at a gas station.

and i have heard from a friend who got a ticket on his way down to florida going 90+ on a crotch rocket that they have mustangs, cameros, corvettes, etc. unmarked and marked vehicles on thier state police force.

We've got Volvo S70s here as police cars, a few Crown Vics, and an unmarked, black Subaru WRX they use to crack on the street racers. I doubt it's stock, but i've seen it a few times.

A few years ago, we used to have an 1988 Camaro Z28 Iroc with a supercharger... it was an for the highway pursuits, but since they barely happen, it got crushed.

There's a bunch of "slick-top" Mustangs running around FL, so be on the look out. But there's still a lot of Chevy Lumina coupes with some sort of performance package...I saw one accelerate just in front of me on the Turnpike...you can't tell me there wasn't some sort of V8 in that car!

Magic069, not only do they have those you are talking about, but we also have The SS running around town as an undercover FHP. Along with that, in Altamonte Springs they have Chevy Blazers, and near UCF there are two import cars, one is an accourd, I don't know the other, possibly a integra or Celica undercover Orange county Sheriffs.

We have a PT Cruiser running around town here. It's more focused on drug awareness than doing any actual policing. Aside from that we have your normal Crown Vics and Paddy Wagons. Theres also an F-150 that the police drive.
