They haven't made the Lumina Coupe for about nine years. Say: Monte Carlo.

most of the exotic cars that they use are repos. I think what actually started them in Florida was a few repo mustangs that FHP put to good use.

Yes, here in Michigan I've seen a few Camaro police cars. But usually we have the Mercury Marauder's roaming our state, fairly new models.

yea they have those camarao ss' and '90 5.0 mustangs down here in ft.lauderdale.. thats florida for all you out of towners

I used to live in Fort Lauderdale Epic. Glad to see another fellow Native. :) I remember passing the FHP post on I 595 right before you get onto I 75 or the Sawgrass expressway.
hope I'm not spamming but, one night I was getting onto 595 from 75 and on 86 I beliveve the road was where on the eastbound side of 595 it goes east and on the westbound side it goes west, This Davie cop was hauling the wrong way (west on the east side) with his lights on. Then he takes a turn about 3/4 of a mile west of the McdDonalds on the corner of Flamigo Road and 86. Then he turned his lights off and drove like it was nothing. What a PRICK!!!

Trust me...it's not a Monte Carlo. Too ugly, thus too obvious? And they made the Lumina Coupe until about 5 years ago. And despite the fact the GM10 Lumina is dead, the local Sheriffs and FHP still run those oldies but goodies around here.

You find a few local PDs around here use Intrepids, but not many. It does look odd...mostly Crown Vics and Caprices around the state.

There's an old IROC with police paint driving around here for the past 10 years; it's a D.A.R.E. drug-enforcement/education car that does the rounds. But it creeps up on you sometimes and gives you a scare every now and then!

Any police agency with a Viper ought to have a very good excuse to waste tax-money (yeah, we siezed it from a drug dealer...riiiiiiight!).

In Kansas and Missouri (I live near the state line) we see the occasional Camaro. Mostly the State troopers here (both states) use the venerable Crown Vic. But here they have no external light bar. You have to look for the dual exhaust, half hubcaps, and odd colors. Who actually buys a RED Crown Vic?

Don't forget the missing front door trim! All "ghost police" Crown Vic's i've seen didn't have the front door trim installed.

My wife identifies them by the "wierd mirror" on one side (spotlite).
She can spot them a mile away.

Orange County (Florida) just bought a huge amount of Intrepid's for their new cop cars. They look :odd: as cop cars. Reminds me of the TV show "Viper." All the cop cars in the show were Intrepids. I will try to find a pic.

They also have a good amount of F-150's 4x4 running around.

Edit: Added pics

I remember that show! That was an awesome show wasnt it! I loved the Missiles and Machine guns :D. Paramount Pictures, bring the show back!

I remember seeing a video with a working Diablo Police car in Texas Hauling ass. They said its for intimidation because if I saw a Diablo police car in my mirror I'd give up imidiately. Should have heard the sirion on that thing. Going as fast as the car ...

Out here in Colorado, they are using the Chevy Camaro. Been doing that for a few years now. Here in Vail, the cops drive Saab 900's. There are a few Chevy Tahoes and Dodge Intrepids as well. I was just recently pulled over by a Statie, but he was in a Crown Vic.

Those crown vics are pretty powerful. My cousin went to that police training ground and was in the 'criminal' car acting as a hostage. Said when that patrol car hit him it was like getting smacked by a Diesle truck (or Lorry to some of you). Im going to see in a week or so...

I was a bit intrigued to find out exactly what police vehicles are being used in the state of Colorado. So I did a search on "Colorado Police Vehicles" and got to a nice site that details what seems like all the states police vehicles.

There is a police Viper at this site as well, just click on the El Paso image of the Camaro to see it.

here in mexico the highway patrol also uses Crown vics... but, what amazed me, is that a friend of mine is also a friend of one dude who happens to do the insurance work for these things, and he showed my friend a facture... V8 with twin turbochargers and intercooler. we were in awe. they say its because they cant catch motorcycles
