Anyone for Le Mans

Are any of you planning to go to Le Mans in 2004?

I am (flat -out through France on back of a 'bike to get back to the UK for a GCSE exam will be quite likely!)

Does anyone know how to get tickets early for a decent price?

I wish i was going but im across the ocean from you guys lol. Only lemans i could have a chance at seeing without a passport is the Petit Lemans and even that is across the country.

We're thinking about it. Maybe tagging along with the Club des Pilotes du Mans, for the week-long trip they take down there every year.

We're currently contemplating the cost/benefit issues. Likely to be extremely cool. Likely to be extremely expensive.

I know it will be expensive for you but it'll be worse for me.
I'm only fifteen and i don't have a part-time job so I have to get enough money for the ticket (£50) and pass for camping (approx £60 to £100) plus getting a tent and money to buy stuff when I'm over there)

I also love Le Mans for French age-drinking laws.

I forgot to mention the great tradition on the P&O midnight ferry on Friday. It involves everyone tearing up a seat and trying to throw it off the back of the ferry as far as possible. I've never been involved but it's good as a spectator sport too.

"OOOooooiiii!!!!"

"OOooaarrrr!!"

 :D

So you're a Van Catre Du Mans (spelling) veteran. I went to my first one in 1995, the practice, qualifying and race. The atmosphere is so increadible, especially at the start of the race. I also remember that year on the thursday when we just got down there we went to the circuit and around the back. Usually they have people asking for passes etc. at the pit area, but they didn't so me and my dad and freinds walked straight into the pit area. To get into the pit lane he waled through the Harrads McLaren garrage whilst they were preparing the car. Derek Bell was also in there and we talke to him for a bit. Then we strolled down the pit lane and went into other garages, and walked into the Marcus garrage and got autographs and met the team. Be it I was like 9 then, and trhey let me sit in the MArcos LM600!!! OMG the memory's. After that we went to a restaurant near the track where there was this British Porsche GT2 team at the table next to us. We turned round and talked to them. They rote best wishes etc. on a napkin kind of thing, which I'm looking at and gave us passes for the race. Though I wasn't actually allowed in the pit lane, because you have to be 12 plus, but my old man did. Soooo good!!!
Might be going back this year, hopefully. All depends on A levels. Might go down in my old mans AC (fast drive in the country) and camp it. The camp sites are amasing, as there are tones of Brits and the atmosphere is so freindly. Go for it if you can. Le Mans has stucj with me for years.
BTW i fully remember doing the childish antics of the ferry trip back when I went in 1998. That was a luagh.

By the way, has anyone got a map showing the circuit and the town. I want to know how to get from the circuit to the nearest French Supermarket or whatever for "SUPPLIES"

They had a portable bar in one of the campsites last year I think. It got taken down in a bunch of Caterham's If I remember right.
By the way, if you get bored off your grandstand tickets I be happy to borrow them at 1 in the morning.

How do you book a campsite BTW, and which campsite is the best?

theres a supermarket about a 5 minute drive from the circuit in Le Mans itself. if you go out of the track and turn right, and keep going, you cant miss it
Maison Blanche is the best campsite
