I noticed the new demo does not but 5P does.

So I was wondering if anyone knew if the final product is more like the demo and doesn't or more like the 5P and does?

I don't have confirmation but I'm 100% sure the clutch while be available to use.

In GT5P the clutch is fully functional aside from spec III making flat-shifting impossible, but GT5 will have damage so flat-shifting would most likely cause some wear & tear to your gearbox in GT5.

GT5 TT demo dsiabled the clutch to make the playing field even, since you can shift faster with the clutch.. I'll go as far as saying that in GT5 you can select an option so that cars that use clutches and six-speed shift always need the clutch used during races, and you cannot turn this on/off with the triangle button of the G25/27.. also, cars that use paddle shifters - you have to use the paddle shifters.

I'm sure this is in, and I would love for it to be able to work that way.

I hope so.I know this will sound crazy but,I would consider skipping it and getting back into PC based sims if it's not a realistic clutch.
Who am I kidding,I wont skip, but would feel a little let down.

Wait wait wait.

How does using a clutch make you faster? Now I'm just plain confused.

The shift animation while using a controller, or wheel that doesn't support the clutch is kinda slow, and always at the same slow speed.

Using a clutch you can shift into gear as fast as you can put the clutch down, while letting off the gas, and putting the car into desired gear.

You really notice a difference when playing online with a buddy using the same car stock, if he's using a controller you can really notice some gain on the straights from using the clutch and shifting probably.. half the time of the animation, if you are quick.

Your faster without clutch. Using the paddle shifters makes you quicker.

When you change gears the driveline from engine to wheels is broken for a split second. Using an automatic clutch lowers the time the driveline is broken (paddle shifting). This means more balance in the car and less power lost when shifting. This is the reasons F1 cars and WRC rallycars using the paddle shifters.

Yes, when driving supercars with paddleshifts like the F430 Scuderia which shifts in 60 millisecs then what you're sayng is true, however, when driving cars that use regular h-gearing, then You can change faster using the clutch as opposed to letting the game simulate it for You.. Even if You use the paddles on Your G25 with a car that doesn't have it in real-life, the game still simulates the clutch and h-gearing.
