Because I use a wheel to race online, and sometimes i want to relax on the couch with the controller and be lazy. drag racing is the only fun thing to do with a controller
this makes absolutely no sense LOL i still have the fastest GT-R for tunnel, and i'm not even a drag racer...

I have definitely learned how to get the most out of my 1st and 2nd gear. I have been able to cut lap times with amazing numbers because my cars have a better launch than they did with default settings.
A lot of ignorance in this forum regarding dragging, unfortunately.
For those of you who think it's 'just pressing buttons' at the right time, and all cars are equally matched, you are quite far off.
Is it similar to real life dragging? Not really, but it's as accurate as the racing aspect of the game.
Dragging is all about tuning. Having the suspension set-up properly for launch, having the gear ratios perfect, having your gears aligned for maximum use along the powerband and a variety of other key tools for the fastest 1/4 car.
Circuit racing is 80% driver, 20% tune, whilst dragging is 80% tuning and 20% driver.
I suggest putting your cars against the SAME exact cars in dragging, and see whose cars come out ahead. Perhaps it'll give you a better sense of appreciation for dragging.
If you don't like dragging, then don't drag. But don't undermine the ability of the people who take enjoyment from this aspect of GT5.
i hate drag racing but this game docent represent it as it really is in real life you risk messing up your car by shifting to early .
you realize time trials start on a roll right? and even in online races the launch accounts for about 0.01% of the final outcome, i'm with you that gearing will definitely help with lap times but a drag suspension setup won't at all.
