Going to do a run to establish a time.
I'll have to knock off half a second to be in the running though.

But you could apply a port polish or something like that, it would help the engine everywhere.
But I did, I bought Semi Racing exhaust, Port polish, Engine balancing, Racing chip, Turbo stage 1 and Sport intercooler. In addition to oiling procedure the car can now produce 401hp.

Preparations are all done, I just need to complete the event.

Event completed, time submitted. :)
Very fun race, no grass or AI contact, best lap around 1'31.
First I thought about using an N1 R34 Skyline, but after thinking for a while I decided to stick with Evo 6 models, due to following reasons:

Basically, Evo 6 RS is lighter but GSR versions can be equipped with Active Yaw control. It really helped a lot, releasing accel button controls understeer and if you're good enough you can skid along the longest corner on track without sacrificing your speed and thus your total time. Unfortunately, you can't equip rear LSD while having Yaw control activated (although front can be adjusted :odd:) so with high powered car having one tire spinning as you exiting a corner is inevitably. Luckily, even with a sport suspension kit you can reduce rear damper values which is all I need to cope with that problem.
Anyway, interesting approach for tuning this model is the main reason for Skyline bypassing.

Ok here's my report, of sorts.

I decided to use the Ford GT Concept '02 and figured out that due to its 1451 Kg weight, my ideal power output would be 527HP, fortunately fitting a PC chip & Semi Race exhaust got me to exactly that figure.
I then bought all the allowable parts including the mandatory S1 tyres and Sports Suspension kit.
I've used this car for a top gear comp a while back and my memory of the car was that it was quick and also drove well. First time on track proved otherwise, It seems the car prefers the stock S2 tyres, as with the S1's it had lots of corner entry over-steer, it was controllable once on the throttle, but braking and corner entry was pretty unstable especially considering I was going to do a 21 lap race.
So I raised the front ride height and lowered the rear, softened the rear dampers, and then added more rear camber than I did for the front. I also wound the brakes bias way to the front, and added about 10points to all the LSD settings. The car was now controllable, but it still required precise braking and steering entering the chicane, hairpin and the esses at the end of the lap.

I was happy enough with my race consistency, only losing it once majorly (getting wide through the last corner and spinning, which cost me about 10 seconds), and I had a few other less significant moments as well, meaning a mistake free run would prob be about 15 seconds quicker.
So it was A very challenging race, as keeping the rear end under control for 21 laps was pretty tough, it was still easy to drop time or lose it in pretty much every corner, but that's what made the race more rewarding I guess.

After testing almost every American FR car that wouldn't be as slow as the C2 Vette, (1:43s.) I went with the C5. The only other one that I could've tried was the C12.
In practice the car was ok, a bit of understeer but it's a big American car after all.
In the race it was pushing everywhere, put I could slide it nicely in most corners.

The race was fairly uneventful, I could've done better though as I had a half spin coming out of the chicane, and when I passed the CTR2, it punted me off in the next turn..

Well done, shotamagee! You've got a real knack for knocking off my GT-R's. I test drove the Ford and fully expected it to be fast, but also less consistent than my Nissan. I'm happy they matched up as well as they did. I suppose I'll do a little race report.

The GT-R Concept was easily the best of the Japanese 4WD cars given the limitations of the race. The DN-X/Dualnote was as fast, but way loose and inconsistent, those flappy things on the Mitsubishi HSR just weird me out, and the '89 GT-R would have competed with the Corvette nicely.

So I equipped the car with a racing exhaust and port polish, the two most important things to make the engine breathe better. I softened the front dampers by just one, it was well balanced even with the stock suspension. There was a hint of understeer upon acceleration, but you'll have that no matter what. Racing Brakes, Racing Flywheel, Triple Clutch, Weight Reduction #1, and 4kg of milk and pizza were the only other modifications.

The actual race went really really smooth. I had 3 off tracks and 3 AI Contacts. All three grass mowings happened on the exit of the curve after the back straight. They were all very minor and maybe cost me 2 seconds all together. The U turn before the back straight was absolutely brilliant. I could kick the back end out before the apex and ride right through without wheelspin. Of the 3 contacts, only 1 was my fault. I had the inside and dude came down on me going into the front straight, I paid his AI brethren back on turn 1 with the same force.

The most exciting part of the whole race happened when I passed the Nissan R390 on the back straight. I caught some draft so I went into the sweeper a little hot and had to take the high line. The downforce he had was enough to catch back up and take a car length lead half way through the turn. At least I had the line for a fast exit, which I took full advantage of, but was off line for the blind corner and hit the brakes a little too hard and a little too soon and got tagged. Oh, well. Fun Race anyway.

The first time I did the race It took me 30:30, which averages out to be 1:27.143.
Seeing as how I was averaging around low 1:26's on mistake free laps, I was pretty confident I'd be able to beat that by a fair bit, if I did the race again. (Lucky I did or I'd have come 2nd)
Hence the 30:21, with a best lap of 1:25.181, I'm still annoyed at spinning in the last corner, its not very difficult, but I wasn't concentrating and just ran wide.

Congratulations to Shotamagee for insane victory :). Now when I think about it, even with an R34 N1 model it would be very hard to catch up with Ford GT. So, no regrets here.

The first thing I can recall about GT-R Concept was ultra-heavy understeer during corner's exit. Very bad for my health, it was discarded right away :yuck:.
