Posting this here because this is more directed at Back to the '90s itself. I looked through the Playlist yesterday, and I actually think the concept behind it is somewhat sound; it's essentially a remix of the usual Playlist regulars when you get down to it. Without Hard-to-Finds in the seasonal rewards, placing them in the same context as European Automotive's Exclusive Events makes a lot of sense. The usual Photo Challenge prompts actually still exist, it's just that you've got three of them buried in the Daily Challenges (and thus only worth one point) instead of counting towards the weekly Photo Challenge. It feels like they're trying to build out what these Playlists will look like when the plug is pulled and new players have to start hunting for the FOMO cars that missed the Backstage Pass for some reason.

But, that being said... As satisfied as I am with what we did get car-wise, Soarer aside, I feel like even this is a bit of a waste. There was absolutely a set of Playlist rewards out there that could have used the Lagonda as its headline car and they passed it over. Sure it wouldn't have included as many JDM cars, but there was a happy medium between '90s performance and '90s vibe that I just didn't see until literally this morning.

European 1990s Icons:
Summer: 1990 Aston Martin Lagonda
Autumn: 1999 BMW Z8 (New-to-Horizon by technicality of FH4's James Bond Edition being the Z8's first appearance in Horizon, but they would probably have played this as a returning car)
Winter: 1999 Aston Martin DB7 Vantage
Spring: 1990 Jaguar XJ-S (Returning from FH4)

Right there, two New-to-Forza, one New-to-Horizon, and one returning car, just like we got in this update. Sure you'd skip the middle of the decade, and sure it's very biased in favor of the British, but that'd be a grand tourer, a Retro Saloon, and two Retro Sports Cars. Best of both worlds right here. Granted, if we do get the DB7 and Z8 at some point it'd probably be in a 2000s focused season because of how close they are to the year 2000, but again, it'd have at least made up for the last two updates bringing not that much more than upgrade fodder, the Evo III aside.

I'm still at a loss why one of this week's Daily Challenges, which requires you to re-run the Tulum Expedition event - the one in which Ramiro, the star of an entire Series called "Rami's Racing History", flies the plane above you en route to Ek'Balam - is called, in-game, "The One Where Ramero Flies a Plane"...

This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

Forza Horizon 5 Season Change: Naughty Nineties

The latest Forza Horizon 5 Series has rolled into its second week, with a continuing emphasis on cars that are not quite retro enough for a large set of players to not feel very ancient indeed...

Let's play "Spot the Difference"!:

Bit weird.

This is a Daily Challenge PSA, pointing out that the 'highest point in Mexico' is considered to be right here on the map. I used an Extreme E to get up here, the darn things are surprisingly good climbers.

Also, on an unrelated note, screw that weekly PR Stunt in the Hot Wheels expansion. Y'all know how much I don't like challenges that essentially force you to upgrade but even with what I thought would be a top-tier S1 build for that Danger Sign I found myself needing to tune my Hoonigan 911's racing transmission for acceleration to clear the target they set. Not fun. D:

I upgraded the Donut Media Drift Car with AWD and as much power as possible for the HW PR stunt.

It took me a while to find the highest point in all Meheeco because I was aiming for the circle in @Digolgrin's post, not the arrow. It's the arrow.

My mistake! I'll have to edit my post for clarification, I didn't want to block the mountain itself with player info so I moved the cursor out of the way.

Absolutely no problem and I'm sorry if it sounded like I was blaming you rather than my own dumbness. Anyone who visits the volcano should be able to work out that ridge is the highest spot around, so thank you for your public service.

I thought it was the circle as well...
I think that makes us...

I really can't decide if I like the Lagonda or not. It's looks burn my retinas and it's very barge like to drive, not to mention it's awful stock 3rd gear.

But it's quirky, and everything I've mentioned above is all part of it's quirky charm. I like things that are different so I should really like the Lagonda but I'm torn.

I'll play with it this coming week and see how I go with it. If nothing else though it's got me thinking about it more than any other car we received this last few months, and that can only be good I suppose.

It's a bit of a cheat though, as it's a 70s car. The angular-ass Series 2 (Series 1 was a regular-looking Aston) was introduced in 1976...

This is a Series 4 model, basically a facelift of a refresh, which ended production in 1990 - but hadn't changed since its introduction in 1987.

Either way it doesn't matter that much, the Lagonda also comes paired to a three-speed automatic transmission (when the real thing could also get a five-speed manual)--which kinda kills its acceleration stone-dead. That transmission is geared towards top speed when stock--I don't know if the manual was removed before 1990 but I really do wish PG'd been able to source a Lagonda that had it.
