Well I'm certainly hoping for these two brands to appear in Gran Turismo 5 but was wondering if EA and Microsoft had them locked to PGR4, Forza and NFS at the moment?

It's not bloody good enough, is it?

Everyone wants Ferrari in the series, and as soon as we get it - in high definition, no less - everyone wants Lamborghini and Porsche (I might point out that RUFs are in the game, which are a pretty good substitute).

Enjoy it while you can.

It's common though. I can use RUFs for an example, when we saw them they were a good substitute for Porsches, for awhile. Now people want the real thing, substitutes can't last forever.

Its just merely a question about whether any developers are currently holding any exclusive rights to those two brand of cars. Calm down.

Awful, awful jokes. Oh, and Do you race? should listen to Mr. Cruise. :P

Both companies have talked to PD before, (i.e. GT3 Japanese version) but I'm hoping that hasn't caused tension.

Anyways, from what I know, Lamborghini is talking with Polyphony, but it doesn't mean anything.

I don't know about this license thing but i've heard EA has license to Ferrari,Porsche and Lamborghini during those early Need For Speed day.(Thats why GT never had those cars on their games) But since their contract with EA has expired (or something like that) now other games has license to those cars. But i'm not too sure about that either and i don't know why PD doesn't want to feature those cars early on and only now....feels kinda fishy to me...

Have to agree.

I think EA had the rights to FLP but there was a rumour that these were due for renewal recently. Maybe that's why Ferrari now feature in GT:HD and with some luck GT5.

You need to remember that a lot of manufacturers want their cars in the GT games to help raise awareness of their cars. FLP don't need this, as their product is known the World over.

Well Ferraris were not in the Need For Speed series after Hot Pursuit 2, but it appeared in the Project Gotham and Forza games and now Gran Turismo. But both Porsche and Lambo are still in both the NFS and Microsofts' racers.

I cant say it often enough: If PD wants to create a car encyclopedia or a historically correct car racing game they cant leave Porsche out, it is and was one of the most important car maufacturers in both racing and street legal cars and cannot be left out. Porsche is big car history, it won Le mans several times from 1960-1990,(917, 956, 962, Dauer), Nürburgring 1000 kilometers (908, 956)
Porsche constructet the most rememberable, successful and reliable racing cars of the world and they wrote history. 👍

I really dont know what the problem with Porsche and PD is, I just can hope they get it done to include one of the most important car manufacturers of the world.

Leaving Porsche out of GT is like leaving out the rocket launcher or the sniper rifle in a first person shooter game.

Ever thought of the possibility that PD want to leave Porsche & Lambo this time as they want to concentrate mainly on having the Ferrari license and making them the star cars? Just a thought.

I could care less about Lamborghini (although I woulld like to see the miura and countach). But Porsche, common. Ferrari's are nice, but they just can't match a Porsche in my eyes. I mean imagine a 356 Carrera Speedster, 550 Syder, 917/30, 908,906/904, the no. 1, the RSK. RUF never did any of these, so really they're just a cheap substitute compared to the real thing.

EA do not have an exclusive license, if they did MS wouldn't have been able to get them in Forza 2. Also, an exclusive license will not last that long befoer needing renewing, or just running out. Porsche arn't going to say "here you go EA, have an exclusive license for the next 10 years". You'll get a year, maye two at the very most, but I'd guess you;d be hard pressed to get more than a year each time. Besieds that, I don't think many companies will be as willing to offer exclusive licenses anymore. The number of respected racing games featuring these cars has risen, that means more interest in the licesse which means an exclusive license will probably cut out profit they'd get from licensing the cars out to all the games developers interested.

One sentence...

Everyone has a favourite car but every car can't be in the game.
This applies perfectly to "ordinary" and mainstream cars.

Cars that are very historically significant (and both manufacturers mentioned by the OP have several examples) should never be voluntarily overlooked.

I am very shure if PD got the license to include Porsches in their game they would spill it around in all teasers/trailers/websites. Nothing against Ferrari....!

But I always thought Nissan is PDs pet.

I think the star of the game will be Nissan's GTR. What else could be bigger to Japan and the automotive industry this year and the next? And Nissan built this GTR to beat the Porsche 911 Turbo so fingers crossed for the Porsche licenses at the very least if not in GT5 Prologue, then in the final game.

If i were lamborghini or porsche, I would want my cars featured in the GT series much more than any other series. No other series portrays the cars as beautifully and realistically as GT.

Well, let's see. The BMW M3, the coming Audi RS6, Corvette "SS", Aston Martin DBS, Porsche Panamera, Jaguar XF, and of course, the Camaro.

There's a lot more, but they're slated for '09s.

-> I obviously think that Porsche, Lamborghini, and even Maserati (LamPorMas) are playing tag with PD.

-> I hope without the inclusion of LamPorMas in GT5P is not final, we still have the full game called GT5. We may never know what lies within PD's messed up minds of surprising us (maybe trying to prevent us not to explode our heads). :)

I just remembered....
Last time I looked, Porsche and Lamborgini were part of the Volkswagen group, so ud think that VW would allow polyphony to feature lambo and porsche in GT5.

As beautifully, perhaps since GT games are stunning to look at. But GT is not the most realistic racing game out there. So no, some other games can and do portray cars as/more realistically than any GT game so far has.

It's nice that you ignored the "to Japan" bit. None of thoes cars will be nearly as big in Japan as the GT-R.

I'm not so sure about this but i know that Porsche was owned by Volkswagen. But isn't the Lamborghini owned by Audi which is owned by Volkswagen? I'm just making myself confused  But that decision should go to their own manufacturers, not the big car company which owned the other car company. And PD does need to get out of its comfort zone and try to exploit other manufacturers in Europe and America to gain more knowledge about other cars.Cars from Japan doesn't cut it anymore for us gamers!!!!! :grumpy:

Porsche isn't owned by VW, Porsche own a share of VAG. VAG is the VW Automotive Group, which consists of VW, SEAT, Skoda, Audi, Bugatti and Lamborghini and probably others I can't think of right now.

Each brand comes under a seperate license, and in many cases, each car within that brand comes under a seperate license of it's own. If you get a license for FIAT's, you don't automatically get one for Maserati just because FIAT own them. Likewise, getting a license for VW foesn't give you the chance to use any cars within VAG. Also, as I said, decuring a license to use VW's doesn't always mean you can use any and all VW's. VW may offer you a licesne to use any mass production models currnetly being used, but then if you want to use the W12 Nardo concept, you'll need to license that seperately, and if you want to use certain classics, seperate license again. I'm not saying VW in particular do that, I don't know if they offer a blanket license to PD like TVR do or not. But that's just an example of how complex licensing can get.

^ye, i heard Porsche do have a controling share in VW at the moment!!!
>I think that PD can and will get both Lamborghini and Porsche, but will choose to hold off in including them until its GT franchise needs a little "PICK ME UP" to freshen it up againsts stiffer competition down the line.....so I think Por/Lambo wont be in GT5(shame as I'm big fan of both) but maybe as DL content in a year or 2 or maybe even GT6(would make sense profit wise)
