I've told more than a few people that if they want to get me something, get me socks. Now this usually means crazy weird random socks that I can mismatch, but that only only makes it easier for them to pick out. Just a win win usually - I'll actually wear them, they can be cheap, and make sure they fit isn't a huge guessing game.

Though it would probably be easier to get me gifts if I wasn't such a particular ass about things as well...

I asked for socks and was a little sad that I didn't get them. You can never have enough socks for work or comfy socks for around the house in the cold winter.

Socks are a great present if and only if they are something of note either on the quality front or in the fashion stakes.
A standard 3 pack of cheapo socks from Kmart not so much.
Was quite happy to get some given to myself this year.

Among other things, I got my girlfriend some socks for Christmas and she was elated.

Depends. I don't mind getting a new pair if my current socks are starting to wear out.

I think Jordans graph pretty much says it all. As a kid, unless I needed a new pair of socks for hockey I would have been as "thrilled" to get socks as I was to get clothes.... Not very. But are the outrigger age of 35, I definitely enjoyed getting socks, and clothes.

I would slap in the face with said socks whoever would dare give me that as a present for Xmas or anything, really I'd probably fake a smile and thank them. I'm very finicky with socks I prefer getting them myself and when I find one that feels great I go and buy heaps of pairs of the same kind. I'm still planning on getting rid of all my socks and replacing them all with just one kind and colour so I don't ever have to pair my socks again.

My sock drawer would drive you too the loonie bin...

I actually got a couple pairs of heavy duty insulated moisture wicking socks for Christmas. They are to keep my feet warm when it's 10F outside at work, so I'm quite happy with them. Frozen feet are not cool.

One year I was really low on socks & actually asked for them for Xmas. Everyone bought me socks that year & I mean everyone, that's all I got, I had loads of them; DOH!

I got a bunch of pairs of wool socks last year before I went on exchange to Finland and they were one of the best gifts ever.

I went and bought my sister some very thick, technical merino wool socks for hiking and she absolutely loves them. They are $17 a pair :P

I love a pair of nice socks. I wish I got some for Christmas.

The only people I've ever met that didn't like socks as a present still lived with their parents. Once you're out on your own you appreciate socks and underwear.

I appreciate just having socks that match..
