Are there any stock cars with less than 300 horsepower that can do over 200 mph?

Hi everyone,

The above question popped into my head the other day. I have tried out a 2002 Skyline V-Spec Nur, and it reached a little over 190 mph without drafting or N2O. A 1990 Acura NSX managed almost 190 mph. Are there any stock cars (no tuning) with under 300 horsepower that can top 200 mph?

Thank you.

Although GT's top speed physics raise... some questions, in the real world to reach 200mph with 300hp or less you'd need a CdA of ~4.4 (or 0.41 in metric), which corresponds roughly to an extremely slippery drag coefficient of 0.26 - about what a Prius turns in - on a car with a frontal area of 17sqft - about what a Lotus Elise measures. So "no".

Running the NSX's figures through (CdA 6.13), it looks like it would need 295hp to the wheels (about 330hp crank) in the real world to reach 190hp, so if we apply the same error margin to our putative 200mph/300hp car, you're looking now at a CdA of ~5.3. That'd still be tricky to find (it's about a Cd of 0.27 on an average 20sqft car, or an average Cd of 0.3 on a smallish 17sqft car). Try an RX-7 (FD).

The Deltawang?

Close. Take off the aero and add final gear and I saw 215

The Ford GT40 Mark I '66 (lightly tuned) will go faster than 200mph with 300 horsepower

I took my Ford GT40 to the Route X track and lengthened the transmission and used the power limiter to lower the HP to 300 and was able to run over 200mph.:) On the down hill, I think I topped out at 210mph!

Basic settings:
PPV: 500
HP: 300
Wgt: 1100

The Ford GT40 Mark I is nearly a race car, so I don't know if this fits your criteria

Route X is not a good test, many posts and comments on bad aero drag modelling at that track only. Le Sarthe no chicanes seems to be a better top speed test. Should max out / red line just past where the first Mulsanne chicane would be.

The above mentioned information is real life. GT6 may of course alter that. I have not tried to de-tune a C6Z to 300 HP to see if it can do it in game.

Corvette Stingray (C7) '14

300bhp
62kgfm
1500kg

Modifications:
Power limiter 66.3%
Everything else standard

Top speed at SSRX:

Uphill - 185mph
Downhill - 206mph
Flat - 203mph

The Mercedes SL500 '98 has 301 HP stock. I would assume that it would be close but I'm not 100% sure.

I'm game to try the Mustang GT '05. 295hp, 5 forward gears. Are we also speaking of rated hp as opposed to actual? The Supra RZ, 300ZXTT, Skyline have 276hp :sly:

Edit: Mustang- 288km/h not even close.

R34 Nur- 309km/h

Supra RZ- 303km/h

Fairlady TT- 298km/h

GTO TT MR '98- 310km/h
