Is it rare or common?

I've barely raced online in GT6. I don't like using racing soft tires and unless the room quality is set to high or very high it's laggy.

For the first time though tonight I ran into 2 definite hackers. I know the difference between aliens and hackers. I raced in a league for almost 2 years with possibly the fastest guy on GT5/GT6 (ImmortalPilot). These guys were hackers.

Has anyone else seen hackers? Is it common?

I hope not. It really pisses me off that anyone hacked the game in the first place. Completely ruins competitive racing when you got to worry about this sort of thing. Hope PD bans all hackers. They need to stop letting people get away with it like they sort of did on GT5. Just console ban them.

They swarmed the drag racing rooms. 3,000 hp Civics beating Veyrons.

Circuits seem fine though.

Super powered ricers of doom!

Even if they can't be console banned, you can still get them kicked from the room or join a room with a hp limit.

I don't play online anymore, but I made my own rooms. Horsepower limit was 750, title was "Classic Muscle drags no BS", and they were fun (even though I only won a handful of races). It gave people lots of room to fit their heavily modded classics in, wiithout allowing red bulls and hackers in. Anyone bringing moderns were kicked.

They seemed to hang out in the 1/4 lobbies the most. Could've died down, I haven't played online in a while.

That's not the answer and won't do any good. If they truly know what they're doing, they'll be back online in minutes with the same console. From what I've seen and heard, online hacking isn't even close to being as widespread as what it was in GT5.

Well, admitting time for me, in my search to get money to buy the awesome cars in GT6 I found LOADS of people working on garage editors and other things such as that, but the catch is, they're keeping it in their "niche" of custom framework ps3's and they refuse to make anything that's compatible with original framework ps3's so from what I can tell, it's much harder to hack the game this time around because the hackers are being as "smart" as they can be and letting the game have a decent life without being overran by hackers, just my 2 cents gentlemen.

In GT5 I encountered hacked cars, not in GT6. I never do drag though. With the ability to limit power and tyres on top of PP it's not an issue though, you can just filter them out.

I encountered a guy with a hacked X2010 already, and I got so mad because not only did I lose to him, because I knew he was cheating. Then I reported him.

Couple weeks ago, a bunch of us were doing pre-race practice on Cape Ring when a Lotus Elise joined the room and was really gunning it in reverse! Nobody could even get close to the speed he was doing. I went to view it in-car and it was only using the one gear the whole time, including swapping between forwards and reverse at will with no loss of speed at all.
I bet we weren't the first to kick him.

Worst I usually encounter in the circuit rooms is the usual 1,000 Hp Huayras but apart from that, nothing absurd.

Haven't hybrided in GT6, not that smart, but I did in GT5. Most racing lobbies use RS tires which in the room settings means no setting, meaning no limit on tires. There isn't a specific setting for RS like there is for other tires. In GT5 you had Racing Super Softs, which were even grippier than Softs so if they are still in the hidden menus there could be hacking and you'd only know it if you spec checked and who spec checks when they feel safe and secure behind the tripod of HP/Weight/PP?

Another way to get around the PP/HP/Weight limit is with aero. You could add hidden aero on GT5 but it affected PP so it gave you more grip, but you lost HP so you could get a little faster on some cars on a whole lap but not much. In GT6 aero is no longer part of the PP calculation, so you could take your 550 PP car on your Racing Super Softs and equip it with 300/300 aero and smoke anyone around any of the twisty tracks with unimaginable levels of grip.

I never hybrided myself but I new these things from your postings already. ;) Thanks!

On a twisty track aero may be a tool. But on well balanced tracks the tradeoff by drag would change the character of the car but not help your times much. Solving aero by physics kind of works. But I think it was a bad decision because I believe it's the reason why top speeds of non-areo cars are so flawed.

@TomBrady

It's appearing quite a lot in the drift community, but it's not so much a problem for us since we're not "racing"... we use it mainly for a little more power (+200 or so, not crazy) and lower cars, better stance etc.

The reason it's not quite as widespread, is you NEED a jailbreak PS3 to hybrid on GT6.

On GT5, anybody with a USB stick could quite easily make hybrids.

I will say no more, as the forum police don't like us talking about it much...

Just came from a online room were I saw a Fiat 500 accellerate at pretty much warp speed... Well probably X201x speed but still.. Reported him, but I'm not sure what PD does with these reports, hopefully 'scan' the garages of those psn's and see the hacked car data and ban them...

Many of us if we mod a save with hacked cars for an OFW user we FUBAR the PSN name so they can't go online with it. Going online with hacked cars gets hacked cars patched, and screws the integrity of online racing. Unfortunately there are those with CFW who don't care and they still go online.

PD does "ban" users, but its not a console ban, just the user name, takes 30sec to get around it and back online with the same game save.

REPORT THEM if you spot them report them. Its somewhat trivial, but PD actually works pretty fast and the user gets banned rather quickly. They do come back, but most likely they won't bother you again and if they get banned quickly every time they go online maybe they won't as often.
