All it means is more room for advertisement racing is all about the dollar, the good ole days with the good ole boy racing is far and gone this is the NEW Nascar unfortunately

Dale Jr. brought this up on his podcast a few weeks ago and I think he makes a good point. Basically he says the number is the drivers identity. In today’s NASCAR, it’s not uncommon to see drivers run several different sponsorships throughout a race season. That makes the number the only constant to identify a driver with and because of that it should remain prominently displayed on the door rather than something small off to the side. I honestly don’t think the cars in the picture look bad at all but from a driver branding standpoint I agree with what Dale is saying.

Well put

Numbers and sponsor go hand in hand with drivers.

Think about it.
Dale Earnhardt #3 goodwrench
Rusty Wallace #2 miller
Jeff Gordon #24 Dupont

Dale JR. for a long time #88 Budweiser
Ricky Rudd #10 Tide
Terry LaBonte #5 Kellogs
Bobby LaBonte #18 interstate batteries.

So on and so forth.

You guys are still in the ‘90s when cars ran the same sponsor all season. It’s not like that anymore. The #2 in the picture is Wurth not Miller. Although it is still sponsored sometimes by Miller, but not every race. The 24, 18, 3 and so on all run different sponsors week to week and that’s the point. With changing sponsors on a week to week basis the number remains the only constant thing to identify a driver with.

You mean we are still in the Awesomes. Where things were awesome. When Wrestling was still good.

I understand that sponsors change from time to time. We were really agreeing with you and adding to it. Drivers need their number to be shown otherwise we wont know who they are. Nascar is built off of making drivers the star of the show. So they need their numbers.

Although, I haven't really cared about nascar tye past 5 or 6 years because of stupid things they do. But my point still stands.

hmmmm. Would rather race in rain! Going back together though. These Toyota’s make a little more sense than the bmw’s MB’s and Porsche’s I’m used to do.
