I see no numbers
Well putDale Jr. brought this up on his podcast a few weeks ago and I think he makes a good point. Basically he says the number is the drivers identity. In today’s NASCAR, it’s not uncommon to see drivers run several different sponsorships throughout a race season. That makes the number the only constant to identify a driver with and because of that it should remain prominently displayed on the door rather than something small off to the side. I honestly don’t think the cars in the picture look bad at all but from a driver branding standpoint I agree with what Dale is saying.
Numbers and sponsor go hand in hand with drivers.
Think about it.
Dale Earnhardt #3 goodwrench
Rusty Wallace #2 miller
Jeff Gordon #24 Dupont

Dale Earnhardt #3 goodwrench
Rusty Wallace #2 miller
Jeff Gordon #24 Dupont
Dale JR. for a long time #88 Budweiser
Ricky Rudd #10 Tide
Terry LaBonte #5 Kellogs
Bobby LaBonte #18 interstate batteries.
So on and so forth.
You guys are still in the ‘90s when cars ran the same sponsor all season. It’s not like that anymore. The #2 in the picture is Wurth not Miller. Although it is still sponsored sometimes by Miller, but not every race. The 24, 18, 3 and so on all run different sponsors week to week and that’s the point. With changing sponsors on a week to week basis the number remains the only constant thing to identify a driver with.
The #2 #3 #24 #43
What drivers do you think of? I guarantee none of them are current.
Another thing NASCAR ruined.
