AUTOBACS RACING TEAM AGURI (ARTA) announced on January 10th at "Tokyo Auto Salon" its decision to take part in the 2003 JGTC season with the Garaiya GT300R. The Garaiya is a commercial sports car designed and developed for road use by AUTOBACS SPORTS CAR LABORATORY (ASL), and the GT300R is the racing version that was unveiled at the salon.

ARTA won the GT300 class Driver's Championship title last season with a Toyota MR-S and drivers Morio Nitta and Shinichi Takagi.

ARTA team director Aguri Suzuki commented: "ARTA Project will enter the GT 300 class of the 2003 JGTC Series with the Garaiya. I myself collaborated on the development of the road version the Garaiya with our driver Katsutomo Kaneishi, so we are very happy to be able to take part in the JGTC with a car that has a special meaning to us. Development of the racing version started only last September, but the car's completion is exquisite. We will be trying our best to win the championship with the Garaiya from the first year."

ASL is planning to begin selling the GT300R model from autumn 2003 (estimated price: approx. 20 million yen).

I like this car, but I guess they are giving up the MR-S. Oh well.

that is a bad @## car there. It would be real nice if we got that car here in the states. 20 million yen roughly translates $166,722. Better be a good car.
