Asseto Corsa using the DS4

I have other settings I've played with if these ones above are no good. Also worth trying everything on zero and just adjusting Gamma.
Your settings weren't too far off what I had been using other than my steering speed being very low. When I saw yours set at 100 it was a bit of a eureka moment for me. Speeding it up fixed most of the issues I had. Low speed steering can be twitchy now but I can manage sorta clean laps with care.

I always used d-pad until I got a wheel back in 08, never looked back. I'm trying to get a good pad setting for drifting and for my friend who just got the game and is struggling. Like so, so many things in GT, I took the excellent pad controls for granted and it was quite a shock coming to AC. In GT, I would either use the pressure sensitivity of the buttons or rapidly tap the d-pad and X to modulate steering and throttle. None of that works in AC, need to treat that little stick like a wheel and those triggers like pedals. ABS off is 100% out of the question.

I managed to dial out that low speed twitch but it was impossible to catch slides so i dumped it. The new Porsche GT3 and cup cars are the most twitchy. Drifting is impossible for me with these settings, haven't spent time trying to find suitable settings as i don't drift.

For sure, seems you can have it one of two ways:

1. Slow and numb enough that you don't twitch around and cause slides that way, but when one does start you can't catch it. Big wheel movements take too long to return to center and that causes problems. Very wonky feeling.

2. Quick enough to catch slides but twitchy such that you might lose control simply trying to set up for a braking zone. Catching a minor slide usually results in a completely blown lap time. An off can happen at any time without warning.

Just when I think I'm finding a good middle ground, something feels like it's becoming too much of a problem. I feel like it would take me a week of practice to get to where I could do a GT3 race online without having any offs, but to be remotely competitive with even the mid-pack would take months.

This doesn't bode well for keeping my buddy interested :( he's pretty laid back but has so far been nothing but frustrated. He was pretty mediocre in GT6 but was always able to get all gold in license tests, for example, so he has skill. AC laughs at your ability to pull off a single clean lap and will speak to you only after you repeat it 10 times consecutively

The settings on v1.01 were perfect for me. Someone needs to solve this problem and release an RC style controller for racing games.

Loool that looks faf too cumbersome to kick back and chill with. Trying some settings now but what really makes finding a perfect setting hard is having to keep going back to menu to tweak it. Would be so much easier if you could do it on track.
Changing controls and controller/input settings while in-game: the holy grail, apparently.

Isn't that why Thrustmaster makes wheels?
See above quote. A low-dollar handheld controller optimized for racing would be niche, but useful. That stick was the only thing I found for PS4 in a few minutes of searching, not really handheld though. Or optimized in any way. Indeed, probably wouldn't work with AC.
