dwrite.dll -
is the file used to inject/intercept d3d/fxaa calls to/from AC. It is used by CSP (and is how it works its magic).
the version you installed need to explicitly also have its versioned companion files.

it "might" work if you uninstall CSP first.

Interesting..I switch between CSP's all the time, but I'm not even sure I know how to uninstall CSP.....I'm obviously wondering, by not installing the IER's dwrite.dll file, what is the mod missing out on....? Maybe this explains the weird graphical glitches (front body panels missing/misaligned, etc)

I had the problem with the dwrite.dll that comes with the P13c and the game crashes yesterday.
I solved that by deleting that file and then putting the dwrite.dll from the latest CSP-preview in the main folder. After that I disabled SOL and CSP in the CM Mods Tab and enabled them again. That solved it for me, also the P13c works fine

also interesting, thanks...would you be so kind as to provide a snapshot of the CM Mod tab showing what exactly you disabled and re-enabled? Thanks again...:)

Apologies if I seem to be posting a lot of these but getting a few requests

These are once again very basic and can be improved upon I'm sure. Especially in additional streaming edge/point zones as I don't go overboard with the edges (lazy boy tactics :D)

Anyway, I hope they are of use

There are existing config files in the extension/config/tracks/loaded folder for Dayton & le Mans 1991 add these to the bottom and save

Follow instructions in the original download overview page
https://www.racedepartment.com/down...rainfx-config-files-for-various-tracks.38503/

Add to end of existing track.ini in yourpc:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\extension\config\tracks\loaded

or create your own ext_config.ini file in the tracks extension folder (Don't forget to copy over the any__lights.kn5 file from the loaded folder too)
The name of the Reboot version is Lemans_1991 and not Le_mans1991 (called Lemans 1991 in CM and Lemans_1991 in Content/tracks files).
You need to change the name of the RainFX file in : Lemans_1991 il you put it in the loaded files.

Ok only 220 pages behind now. Some amazing mods, so thanks so much to everyone who worked on them. I've got a Rift S, which is just amazing. Loving the Alfa TT12 and Hyperion. Thanks reboot crew for the updated Fuji and Mont Tremblant, which were crying out for your attention.

GzeroD may I ask if you could think about altering something. Your Bristol Motor Speedway is awesome. As a simmer since Indy 500/Nascar 2, I just can't abide the visual horror of the current Monster Energy painted BMS (irl, not just the AC version). It just looks like someones vomited electrolytes all over it. Is it possible to make a version with the white barriers from the clay version? PS. your Ferrari 512M is utterly magnificent :)

The p13c is not going to work without the dwrite.dll (at least mine didn't). When I had the dwrite.dll that came with the car in the main folder I just got a black screen, but sound and all of my HUD apps displayed, and everything glitched out, when I removed it my game crashed immediately.

SO once I had removed the dwrite.dll from my main folder, I redownloaded the latest CSP-preview from Ilja's Patreon page, and took the dwrite.dll from there into my main folder. Then I got messages saying that some shaders were missing. So Idisabled SOL and then CSP in the Mods tab (the two circled items in the pic).

I then simply re-enabled them and It worked.

Thanks TMLM, quite clear now...for me, I didn't even have to disable/re-enable SOL/CSP for the P13C to work. All I did was delete the dwrite.dll file that came with the P13C and reinstalled dwrite.dll from the CSP version that I am using and all works fine...just getting the odd/occasional front body panel misalignment issue. I have SOL 2.0.2 installed, but interestingly, it does not show up in my mod tab...it does state in game that it is indeed installed though...

To answer my own question, do you have ABS on in control settings? I think that you do. As I just gave it a spin and when the ABS kicks in my wheel also vibrates badly.

Further question is why use anything else other than 'Factory' in the driver aids section? Either rectify that or use the ABS as an indication that you are braking too hard and aim to never have it engage. ( maybe in the future I'll just set slip to 1.00 so this doesn't happen)

As an explanation, the car of course doesn't have ABS but it still has a definition file for it.(electronics.ini) I can't say I remember why but the settings are set for only 0.10 slip and 100hz, and with each on/off cycle of grip/slip causes the wheels to grab, alot of scrub in the geometry gives rise to alot of force at the wheel.

Fantastic, so so informative. That is why i'll always pop back in here.

Helped greatly and given me a better understanding on what is happening for future issues around this.

Thank you.

For those who might know, is there still a plan for CSP to feature the new race setup screen UI that I saw previewed ages ago?

EDIT: See what you mean now all renamed - Thanks

I'm a bit confused - the rainfx txt says lemans_1991

Can someone help me decrypt a car mod?
I have this one in real life (well pre-facelift) and I really want to see it in AC.

If you want to keep the decryping process hidden, that's okay, all I want is to use this car in AC.
In this case you can send me a PM here.

This is the car in question:

You can't decrypt it. Either ask the author for the decrypted version or find the model and do the conversion yourself. Btw, its not that great. I'd give it 6/10 at best.

Oh cool, I'm glad you could fix the problem 👍
I didn't get the bodywork-missing thing until now, maybe that's due to another mod or so...
I only get SOL in the mods tab because I installed it in the mods tab recently, before that I just had it in the main folder, so it wouldn't have popped up there.

I've tried it out with CSP, I think he did put some good work in it (warning triangle flashes when TC is on etc.). The model itself is not that bad either.
It's an obvious edited Forza Horizon S65 edit, but I'm not complaining. Once the model is not encrypted, I can update the materials to make it look better.

I've tried searching for the author and according to the ui_car.json it's Aijiyizhihua.
He has a YT channel, where he doesn't reply, and I couldn't find an email address either.

Also I've heard someone mention they can decrypt models. Not sure if they meant using a ripping software to get the 3D model itself, or an actual decrypting tool that lets you have an actual cars in game, instead of collection of shiny blue triangles.

"Don't play it then"
This sums up my philosophy on everything about things in life.

dont partake. Its rare you ever see me post about a complaint of encrypted or other erratta.
If its good, I keep it. If its nearly good, I mod it. If its protected I decide the value based on my review.

I dont go crying to the author, or GTP... I simply move on.

Perhaps more will consider this perspective.

Some people like anchovies on pizza, some think its disgusting and hate all who love it.

I simply dont eat it, because there is more pizza coming, some without anchovies.

I am sorry, but where I come from, trying to shut people up is considered rude.
I just used irony to try to suggest where your proposed feature could lead.

You can save the ranking proposal, though, for the upcoming Ilia's Workshop, where ranking the content would make sense. But instead of only allowing a certain elite to vote, it would be better to list all the votes, so anyone could have their own assessment on the results. The reviews allow the same, and usually are far more informative than a star ranking, provided you already know the reviewer's take on similar content.

Anyone who sticks around here long enough should be able to know those who have a similar point of view or preferences, who values feedback over visuals, or the other way around. Should be able to know the car or tracks specialists, the skinners, the physics or 3D model "fixers"...

Heck, one should even be able to discern the cliques that run around, how those shape and change, and sometimes dissolves.

One would see how some "experts", backed up by a clique, would push away good modders over some argument regarding "realistic physics" ou "correct FFB". The modders usually head somewhere else, and the "experts" disapear, or change their opinions.

Just because, depending on the season, people's opinions sometimes are for the highest possible quality, sometime for just having that content no matter what. Sometime they argue for "realism", but later the "feeling" becomes more important. At times, the correct car maker parameters are of utmost importance, other times a mod is praised for "how the physics where well interpreted and give the *corrrect* feedback". Sometimes a track surface is too flat and not realistic, other times it is too bumpy, no matter if it reflects the actual track or not.

So, the modder's luck around here, the reputation and lifetime, are actually depentent on the season, and the mood of the "experts" and cliques. So, I beg your pardon, but I am unable to see the value of highligthing and boosting any sort of "experts" opinion, based on any narrow criteria, whatever it is.

Of course, if one just checks in for the messages with download links, this would not be the case.
But if one feels the download links are getting lost among the discussions, a simple search for "http" should yield those messages, even those with embeded URL, just be sure to hit "Show Classic Search Results" on the top of the results page.
I agree and dissagree some parts of your words.

It was only a suggestion, but even on that one I keep politeness. No insults or whatever.

But even on that one, what did I do to get that anger (not your last post) I don't understand. Everyone have equal rights to share their thoughts, I agree with you. But there are modders who are use these softwares professionally, and there are some who learned these skill with doing again and again. What I say is to give those ones a right to qualify these. And we can sort them by these 2 scales:

- Expert's rating (Only those experts can vote)
- Overall rating (everybody votes)

You can still judge by yourself after but at least for the newcomers they'll know what is what.

Has any one here re-created a championship for the 1989 World Sportscar Championship, endurance group c?
The 1989 World Sportscar Championship season was the 37th season of FIA World Sportscar Championship motor racing. It featured the 1989 FIA World Sports Prototype Championship, which was open to Group C1 Sports Prototypes, Group C2 Sports Prototypes and IMSA GTP cars.
The championship was contested over an eight round series which ran from 9 April to 29 October 1989.
We probably have all the cars and all the tracks.

we have all of the C1 cars but the C2 Junior cars we dont have, for example we are missing any and all ALD (06 and C289), Cougar C22S, Spice SE86C, SE87C, SE88C, and the SE89C, Tiga GC288, GC289

He has a discord server where he answers, but I'm not in it anymore, maybe there is an invite link somewhere on his YouTube channel.

You can't decrypt an encrypted mod, and even if it was possible I would never advise you to do so, especially seeing what happened recently.

Sounds like you have a great reference to make your own mod in the future or to find someone that can help you make that happen. I would begin with contacting the author.

I've sent out a message to him on his discord, but I'm not hoping a lot from it.
There's a reason he encrypted his mod.

Really the whole concept of encryption is ridiculous. Someone made a nice 3D model in another game protected by actual copyright by the game developers and quite possibly the car makers as well. So you take that model (I should add you most likely don't even own a copy of the game you're ripping from) convert it to Assetto Corsa (which you should not be able to edit either legally speaking) and now you add an encryption so that this conversion can only be used with another tool that god knows what to the game. Also people get mad when someone else try to edit their model (hypocrite much?) and think of themselves as the god allmighty of the modding world (since they claim to encrypt so that "noobs" can't edit their model).

Am I being crazy here?

Also tbh I'd love to give encrypted modders the legal middle finger, since they are not protected by any laws.
The only reason we modders don't get lawsuits on our asses, is because game companies don't have the time to sue us or any benefit for them. It'd only give them a bit of a bad name for trying to sue some of their customers.

Actually, all car models belong to the manufacturer. The 3D mesh itself is not worth a lot of money. No one cares about modders as they have not been able to make a dent. Even a really good mod would only get about 10k downloads combined, compare that to the millions of copies they sell. Its nothing. It would cost more money to pursue a bunch of internet modders across the globe with nothing in return.
