Maybe this isn't the perfect place to mention this...and I don't want anybody to think I'm switching sides...but I couldn't resist when I saw that Steam has rFactor 2 on sale for $7.99 (until 4/4). I haven't played rFactor since, like, 2008. I think I had an AST computer with a 20-Mb HD, a Pentium CPU and a Voodoo graphics card. My, how times have changed! And how far behind I now lag.... What I'm asking here is: what's the best forum(s) for rF2? That is, what's the rF2 equivalent of GT Planet? I know rF2 isn't all that 'modable,' but anything's better than the Matchbox cars that ship with the game (their McLaren MP4/12C looks like a Big Wheel). I mean, it's true that rF2's FFB is utterly fantastic, but I'm looking to switch up the content quite a bit.

Whilst you're at it, will you ever update your 205 T16 ? You've made the wheels and rims too big for one reason or another and it just looks so comically wrong :

Bit of a difference there.

Bit of a difference there.
Looks more to do with the ride height of the car. Wheels and rims seem same size, photo is way higher on the springs... If you like it that way as in the photo, simply change the ride height in the car data settings.

Thanks for this, it's a lovely drive. Just a very quick observation, the rear lights don't work. Brake lights do, not just the main lights. Be good if blinkers were added at the same time, I think it's pretty much expected these days. I assume this car had blinkers.. the lenses are there anyway.

Nah, I'm pretty sure he's done something to the rim/wheel proportions. (Besides yours is not even the same model lol)

Adjusting the ride height isn't the solution as it looks even more comical, presuming this car is a Forza port :

It looks like one of those riced-out donk mobiles from the USA.

Regarding RT Sebring Bumps (physical track mesh)

I just wanted to post this as I thought it might be a interesting discussion point.

I have been having a interesting discussion today about RT Sebring being 20% too bumpy..it's is claimed by a well known scratch track maker that the original source material (the s397 laser scan data untouched in the conversion) when compared to the lidar (presumably) data is approx 20% higher in elevation.

I'm super interested in all your opinions on this...why would s397 tamper with what must have been a fairly expensive and expansive in accuracy laser scan data set?.. would this not undermine the superior physics engine claims for rfactor2. Do they do this with other laser scanned tracks?

Also on a side note I remember driving the conversion of Nord's from AC to rfactor2 and not thinking it felt underwelmingly bumpy.

Lastly what are your gut feelings on how rtsebring currently feels...to me imo..and comparing footage from real life on board cams..I'd say it's about right

Also last side note.. surely a professional locally scanned data set would represent a better feeling of the surface intracasies than lidar data ever could, regardless of the claimed 20% increase

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this

Jim
Never have driven the track or even seen it in real life. Haven't driven it rF2, too.
But for me personally it's a bit too bumpy. Maybe my sim setup.
Would like to test drive a 20% reduced in height variant.

Total off-topic here sorry for that, but I just find the stat menu from CM, and as the main stats are either irrelevant nor buggy (fastest speed : 599 km/h with a Ferrari 512tr stock, yeaah sure thing), there is one that made me laugh : average fuel consumption.

I got 44.3 L/100km. Gosh, thank god it's a game, my poor wallet would have suffered ^^ (let alone lady green down there).

Anyway. Back to bizz.
I was thinking about making skins for the Porsche 917LH 1971 made by Legion. Do you guys have heard about a "better" one somewhere else ? I really like it already, but if there's a better model I don't want to work on it for nothing ^^

Forgot to mention earlier - these skins all fit.

Just saw an ad for it as well but since rF2 is also included in the Humble Simracing bundle for $13 this is not a particularly good deal. That being said I get most of my mods directly from the Steam workshop or from this forum: http://www.internationalsimracing.com/forum/index.php?board=65.0

aahh 599km/h, the magic in those tracks holes. Hawking would be proud of you.

Please don't judge the quality. This was just thrown together real quick to see if I have enough knowledge of Photoshop to fix the textures. I think I can do it. The hardest part is going to be getting the texture colors to fit together. They vary so much in color and have a ton of blue tint to them. Road textures were easy. Tree textures are going to be a pain. The skin may and up being a huge download though because I pretty much have to adjust everything if I want to get rid of the blue tint.

It looks like one of those riced-out donk mobiles from the USA.
Forza models come without tyre meshes and with rims that need to be resized, sometimes people just use random measures for those instead of the official ones when adding tyres and fitting rims, I guess that's the answer

Whilst you're at it, will you ever update your 205 T16 ? You've made the wheels and rims too big for one reason or another and it just looks so comically wrong
At the moment I'm more on the race-car side. But if one day I'll go back to street car I'll surely take a look at it.

Thank you and thanks for the report. I'll check that.

Hi guys, I've a problem with CamTool2, I've downloaded and installed it, but I don't have it in game. I have it in CM/assettocorsa/app, but not in CM/assettocorsa/appwindows and CM/app

(see 3 attached images)

Any suggestion?

Latest Starion updated by Velo (with MisterWafflized Gr.A tweak), side mirrors borked...any pointers for solving this?

EDIT: solved, mirrors.ini was pointing to incorrect sidemirrors names.
DOUBLE EDIT: When on track for the first time, the car had no rims.

Hi guys i'm using the optimised Long Beach Terra 21 +nrms (0.8) version which is good and smooth in term of FPS but it always has crashes and traffic at the last corner preventing me to enjoy racing on it especially with IMSA prototype cars. It's like the cars don't understand the sharp corner shape so they try to continue to run by kissing the wall. Do you have an updated or patched AI files for it? Thanks

I worked on the track ai- more than likely it is a problem with the car's ai IMO. Send me the exact cars you are having problems with via PM and I will check it out when I get a chance. In the meantime, try some other cars out on the track and see if they have a problem at the same corner.

When someone has a chance, can they give this very early test skin a try on SL's Watkins Glen. Don't expect great results. I just need an opinion on a couple things before I get too far into it. To see the grassfx, you need the ext_config add-on Breathe has listed on his track list. Forgot to add it.

1.) Am I heading in the right direction on the colors? Too much yellow\warmth, needs more yellow\warmth, up\down on saturation, darker\lighter, etc.

2.) I see this kind of blue\green haze over everything (not just the textures I adjusted) and can't figure out why. Anyone else see it or could it just be my ppfilter\monitor combo.

SL Watkins Test

Thanks for any feedback
