BTCC Ford Escort

see updates section for files to remove side and rear badges
(only just figured that out) + window fix that i overlooked and dial fix for vr users

drag and drop to CM to install

this car was originally made/created/reworked by the following people : EarthWormJim90, edited by Riky_Sim and Masscot

what i have done:

- reworked the og skin (not upscaled just reworked for better quality on certain parts). Window banner added as the real life car had one and also added tape on the front lights as the real life car had them aswell as Avon tyre walls.

- 3 x 4k skins all close enough replica's

- removed many floating 3d objects in the cockpit also removed things like seatbelts through an ext_config.

- front fog lights removed as they were never present on the real life car when in Btcc (thanks to Carajillo for renaming the front glass texture in 3d so i could hide it through an ext_config

everything else has been left as is.

this car does need more work in 3d on the rear of the inside but that doesn't bother me much really i only just noticed recently. I just wanted to "push it a little further on" so to speak. There are other things i would of like to have done but without going into the rabbit hole of 3d it was not achievable.

thanks

can someone explain me why cars that were fine before now have their mirrors wrong?

As an example the exquisite 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport by GeroDa74
all was fine with it , I gave it 5 stars... and now I take it for a spin again , the side mirrors are showing 90 degrees image turned!?

Any light shed on this would be most appreciated. I fear this will impact allot of cars...

ps: I use "real mirrors" without simple tilt enabled

So welcome and congratulations to your first mod :)

Is there way with VRC Formula Alpha 2023 CSP version to force more sparks?

I know there was mod on RD for Formula Hybrid 2023 RSS where you edit the colliders.ini file

but it doesn't work here with VRC because different colliders.

Anyone have solution?

Unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity to thoroughly test the car on the track in this period due to lack of time to spend behind the wheel, the physical corrections made are in fact minimal. The next update will focus mainly on physics. Unfortunately I haven't found a solution for the driver position/steering animation yet, I think it's a problem with the blender plugin. To make the dash visible in VR, I created a mixed steering wheel between a round and a flat bottom. Furthermore I created the GTP BOX V.1 which shows at least the engine rpm and the current gear. Having corrected the size of the tyres, the car now tends to lose traction a little more easily and at low rpm the car rotates more smoothly. If the car tends to lock the tires too much, reduce the braking power by a few points and you should limit the problem. A clean installation is recommended.

Like every release, I ask you not to upload the car to other platforms, I would like it to be available only here and from the link I provided. For any changes/problems, just ask and I will try to add them in further releases as has already been done previously. Thanks to everyone who helped me. 😀

Do you have rubberbanding or 'AI act impatient if blocked' on?
Try disabling those, they might currently be bugged.
Yes I did use rubber banding on, the other one is not available in the 1.79. Rubber banding disabled did not help. What I do driving at low speed, to the left, right or mid the road train is staying intact, see the screenshot. Some test at the other Dundrod and the cars are passing.
Thanks btw for helping.

If you haven't downloaded a new version of the car then it'll be some other update. Fairly easy to customise the mirrors to liking with the mirror app though, so just adjust and save how you want to.

In the 1.2 hotfix.

Make sure that the zip cim_2011_tyres.zip is inside assettocorsa/extension/textures/cars/cim_2011_tyres.zip
I deleted the pre hot fix versions and downloaded the hot fix but the tires still have the mirror finish on the outside. Do I have to check the above file is in the right place to get rid of the mirror look??

Seems that other version of Dundrod was updated by some group called The Usual Suspects, and wow is it spectacular...

Thanks to the original authors and to @RMi_wood @Masscot and everyone else involved in this one, great job and lovely track.

I hope you can continue to add a bit more detail and life to it with some marshalls, spectators out in the country, wear and tear on the roads and some variety in the fields, but it's been great fun discovering the circuit layout, missing brake points and coming face to face with my own virtual mortality many times.

Not sure if it will work but the F1 season mods that @Apocalypse211 has posted has a sparks mod included...within is an ext_config that includes this bit of config to add sparks to cars:

Code:
[PARTICLES_FX]
BODY_SPARKS_AS = CARBON ; material tags for collider.kn5
COLLIDER_0_SPARKS_AS = CARBON; material tags for COLLIDER_0 in colliders.ini
COLLIDER_1_SPARKS_AS = TITANIUM, SKIDPAD ; material tags for COLLIDER_1 in colliders.ini
EXHAUST_SMOKE=1
BRAKES_SMOKE=1
COLLIDER_1_SPARKS_AMOUNT=4
COLLIDER_1_SPARKS_INTENSITY=4
COLLIDER_1_SPARKS_LIFETIME=1.1

thanks for wanting to help ... I haven't downloaded a newer version, it was working before , so I agree with you it's some other update (CSP probably) responsible...

How to rotate the mirrors 90 degrees with the app? Your app has this option? then you have a newer version then me and you should share it, cause mine doesn't have that. (or I don't know how to access this hidden feature)

Ah, I don't know about 90° you're right.

I did have this recently with a car and it sorted itself. I think I may have renamed the car folder at some point (effectively deleting any saved configs from the apps). Are you on Discord? Happy to try work it out with you when I'm at my desk.

o a good hint sir, definitely on to something now...
I created a custom tune (copy ) of the car, and the mirrors are fine on that one!
So now searching for what cfg file could be the one in order to have the original mod work fine again.
(thanks for the offer to discord, but I don't have a working mic atm, but you have helped me already and I hope l can figure it out now.)

yeah the zip needs to be there

How do you guys install the mod to not have it there?

I had noticed the same issue with some of the cars. By chance I figured out that when "Cutting" the car folder to my Desktop, and then "Copying" it back to the ac cars-folder, it solved the issue most of the times. (this creates a fresh new timestamp for the "creation/modified date" of the folder. Nothing else changed inside the folders. ) It worked for flipped mirrors, blurred mirrors and rotated mirrors.

Hello everyone! I ran into a problem with Spawn & timing objects. I did everything according to the instructions, but the cars all appear at one point, at the zero point.
Help.
thank you

Personally early 2010s F1 cars are pretty boring to me, weird chassis formula and stagnant powertrain. Not that I dislike Vettel and I had fun following those years as a fan but the cars are just less interesting compare to before and after...

Also cool they have F-duct simulation(and I assume they would simulate blown diffuser), but its not like I am going to actuate it with my knee or something...lol

More excited for the current LMH/GTP/LMDh era cars to be filled up...

I love that they call this a Vision car when there are no side windows. That is one horrible cockpit view they've given us. Makes the car pretty useless as a car.

I used CM to install it. If I open up the original file the tire zip file is in there. I'll try to manually load it where it's supposed to go and see if that fixes it. Maybe something in the way CM loads it isn't allowing the tire zip to be recognized? I don't know, that's way over my head because I really don't know how all of this stuff works anyway. It's an absolute miracle how I get anything to work correctly to begin with.
