@RMi_wood takes all the credit once again, using his fake FB account to steal tracks and stroke his ego.
Couldn't you come up with a better fake name than 'Franco Lazzarato'?
;)

ACTK told me that if I make 1 little change I can claim it as my own \o/

Hi
Does anyone know if it's possible to disable collisions with certain track objects via ext_config file or something that doesn't involve editing kn5 files?
I was able to make it "invisible" by making the mesh non-renderable in ext_config but I can still crash into it.

Something nerdy for us all classic F1 fans in the forum... yes the all five of them haha...

1982-1984 sponsors skins for Kyalami_1967 track. I also did these for rj_kyalami_1976 but these are a bit improved. I use this track version in my seasons as it's less crashy. Correct Marlboro bridge and improved the hand painted WesBank 1980's logo. All old Shell signs replaced with 80's logos, etc. Nothing special but I love playing my 1982, 1983 and 1984 seasons through and through and small nerdy details make it even better. I don't want to see any 60's stuff. After I modded the SD cars' suspension Kyalami 1967 is pretty much crash free now.

And here's a special one. The last race of 1981 and 1982 was Caesars Palace. Completely exhausted Nelson Piquet cemented his 1981 WDC there after Carlos Reutemann had a disastrous race. In 1982 Keke Rosberg was crowned a World Champion here.

It's a track that was built over a parking lot in Las Vegas. Many people say it's the worst F1 track ever but it's actually pretty cool to drive. The ads are absolutely spot on. The author is "Anonymous". He also made very good Dallas 1984 track. They are not pretty though and very basic but hmm... clean and driveable.

We improved the ai with pekkehe and it's now much less of a crashfest. It had so many crashes that it ruined my 1982 season finale. Now it's much better. Not perfect but very much improved. I had a 25 lap race and only 6 retirements hehe.

It's pretty hardcore that we have tracks like this on AC. Whoever "anonymous" the track creator is, I salute you. This is a piece of F1 history and this circuit should be in everyone's collection (if you're a F1 fan). And it's niche hardcore stuff like this that make Assetto Corsa (as a game and "historic racing platform") forever irreplaceable.

Here's some info of it:

Here's the improved track.

And of course check my classic F1 seasons if you haven't. The more people get involved, more they improve. I'm not much of a modder but I'm passionate. :D

PS: Here's the Dallas 1984. It's probably the best street circuit ever. It was only held in 1984 and Keke Rosberg won the race in crazy heat with completely uncompetitive Williams. The race itself was one of the most entertaining F1 races ever. Watch it! Mansell, Lauda, Prost and Warwick all led the race at some point. Senna was doing fine in his Toleman too until he crashed to the concrete wall. This track is from the same author as Caesars Palace. I really enjoy racing this one too.

And oops... here are the Kyalami_1967 1982-1984 sponsor skins.

Do these skins work on the 1976 version, cos I find the 1967 version suffers a lot from CPU issues.

Confirmed as working here... Thanks for this one - Kyalami '84 was the first race I watched as a 7 year old (although it was another 25 years before I established that via YouTube) and I've been hooked ever since!

You're welcome. So many great races in the old Kyalami.

Kyalami 1985 had that absolutely INSANE Keke Rosberg charge. He was leading the race and then he hit the oil spot and spun. Frank Williams said that Keke's charge in the end was the most spectacular thing he has seen in motor racing. It was absolutely bonkers. Watch the race. He ran out of laps and finished 2nd (came from one lap behind).

From 6:00 here (click on Youtube window).

PS: I'll take a look if I can add those red/white kerbs there now.

I was able to make it "invisible" by making the mesh non-renderable in ext_config but I can still crash into it.
You have to:
  • open surface.ini inside the data folder,
  • copy all the SURFACE section of the road mesh (most of the time is named ROAD or TRACK),
  • paste it at the bottom and rename [SURFACE_xx] with the next following number
  • edit the KEY parameter of the collidable wall mesh (in capital letters). Some times it's not the one you make invisible in ext_config.ini, but there is another invisible collidable mesh (in this case you got to use Blender to find the correct mesh).

NOTE: you can't use the track or layout online anymore (unless you make another layout)

Okay guys I added proper kerbs to Kyalami 1982, 1983, 1984 and 1985.

I created separate skins for all years. I mean why not. Eventually we will get proper 1985 cars and I have to create them for that season anyway. And it's a gift to Juppek. :D

I also added one 80's Good Year ad because that was showing in 1984 footage. WesBank, Technics, Marlboro and Longines, Olivetti sponsors were pretty much the same in all years.

Enjoy. And yes these work perfectly with RJ_Kyalami_1976 too. RJ can add these to his track.

EDIT: After watching the 1982, 1983, 1984 and 1985 footage closer.... the kerbs are

1982: Blue and white
1983: Black and yellow
1984: Red and white
1985: Black and yellow

So basically they changed the kerb color pretty much every year. Weirdness. Well either way now I fixed it, all years now have correct colors. Redownload the skins. Sorry for this.

Who makes the best 80s/90s F1 cars for AC?
ASR?

My all time favorites is RSS 1990.

ASR 1991 and 1992 are pretty good too. ASR has 1990 also but RSS are superior, imho.

I also love this Kunos Lotus98T based 1986 cars. I personally think they're superior to RSS 1986. However these are only skin based but it doesn't matter. Check my season. I "perfected" them by adding proper sparks and realistic performance.

Thanks. I've never really bothered with F1 cars until recently but the 1980s/early 1990s cars are very engaging to drive.
Any interest I have vanishes as soon as flight-deck steering wheels and paddleshifting are introduced, but the ones with round steering wheels and manual gearboxes with pedal clutches are terrific fun.
Basically, analogue > digital.

F1 1990 RSS is great but don't have "H shifting" only paddles (all skins are on overtake)
F1 91 ASR is cool, H shifiting but overall i prefer RSS.
F1 94/96 ACFL is... "functionnal", FFB and physics are too flat
F1 97 VRC (you have 2 cars available Williams and Ferrari but all skins on overtake for the Ferrari to re-create all cars) is very good
F1 86 RSS/KUNOS are great but i'm not fan of the handling of turbo era

I've driven them all. I mean a LOT.

RSS, VRC, ASR... amazing stuff. 2005 and 2007 VRC are superb. But nothing has still beaten Kunos Lotus98T tyre feel. That 1986 season is my dearest. I've played it through four times and never can get enough. The season is so amazing and challenging.

RSS 1990 is amazing too. But you need the Phoenix pay track to get proper season as the free track has 1991 layout. This year is an epic battle between two of the best (imho) modern F1 drivers Prost (Ferrari) and Senna (McLaren). I even re-created the infamous Suzuka collision in the video. :D

The RSS 1990 cars are pretty challenging to drive... they need quite a lot of adjusting but very rewarding when you get the setup correct.

Both of these links don't work anymore. Is there another link anywhere?

Those RMI modded cars are fine but they crash like crazy in Adelaide. I mean it's a total mayhem in some tracks. They flip over and all that. Not RMI's fault. The original SD cars were a total train wreck. They have a lot of issues.

I modded them for weeks (with my bad skills) in order to get them less crashy. Now they don't crash. But I had to sacrifice all other tyremodels than supersoft. I adjusted the suspension, steering, car weights, etc with the advice of Thockard. Probably not the greatest work (by modding standards) but the full season is now working and the races are fine. And Prost, Hill and Senna are very hard to beat.

I added sparks and I really like the sounds of this mod.

All dl links in the video description. Modded cars are there too.

If you want a full grid...
ASR 1991 - free
ASR 1992 - taking the piss $59
SimDream 1993 + RMI data update (worth a try)

Single car with full grid liveries...
RSS 1986 + liveries on Overtake
RSS 1990 + liveries on Overtake
It's the ACR 1991 cars that I've been using. They seem very well done and pass all the usual VR tests regarding little details, materials, shaders, driver fit, shifting animations etc.
Having the proper individual models (with proper cockpits) rather than just different skins over a single generic body is nice too.
And holy crap, I loved my GS-5 G-Seat/G-Belt combo prior to using these old F1 cars, but now I'm utterly blown away by them.

I agree. ASR 1991 and 1992 are amazing. Among the best ever for sure. VRC 2005 and 2007 are pretty amazing too from the newer ones. I still prefer the Lotus98T based 1986 mod. I've driven a lot of karting in my youth and that is the only mod that actually catched a bit of how those tyres "feel" and how the spins happen when you lose the grip. Can't put my finger on it and put it into words but Kunos really did that car so well.

Bathurst 1000 1997 Qantas Vauxhall Sport Skin

Download Links : Overtake
GTplanet
Mod : Vrc Vorax Vector

Drivers : Peter Brock Derek Warwick

I'm aware of the light logo on the offside being inverted. This due to how the mapping works on the mod for the light lens. I didn't want to put on main skin.

Yes, I'm making skins again. Have had a long break from any publicly available skins uploaded to Overtake(Racedepartment) & GTplanet. I decided to make this skin for VRC Vorx Vector ie Vauxhall Vectra Bathurst 1000 1997 skin of Peter Brock & Derek Warwick to promote the 1998 Qantas Australian Grand Prix.

Then you should give Bazza 1975 f1 season a try. And specifically the Brabham at the Kyalami 1967 (which is actually 1976). IMO best openwheel/track combo for a fun immersive race available.
