The car looks amazing! I wish I got ALMS down here, I'd love to see this beast go! Good luck to the team and drivers!

HOLY **** !...

That thing is MEAN - It looks like it's prepared to literally EAT the competition.. 👍

Considering Ferrari is run by Prodrive, and Prodrive will be running these Aston Martins, Ferrari doesn't have to look out since the Ferraris at LeMans from now on will be privateers.

Corvette is the one that needs to look out.

Oh, let me tell you something. That AM DBR9 is one sexy beast. You go from cars to be made in more recent James Bond movies, and take a DBR9 to the track. This is one thing I like about British beasts like this one. I'm an Aston Martin fan (except for that ass-o-listic Lagonda), so to see this machine beefed up and ready for sportscar competition, it would be lovely to see it at Sebring and hopefully make it to Le Mans. The yellow accents on this prototype model are a little off for this machine, but nothing to take away.

You know, the Corvette C6 is told to have some problems earlier in this year's ALMS season, so who knows? The DBR9 could be the Audi R8 of the GTS class. Never tell. Oh, and here's a suggestion, Aston Martin. Stay far, far away from Rolex Sports Car. Dig? Anyhow, it's sexy, sweet, and alluring from just about angle. Just like you envision your girlfriend/boyfriend or wife/husband.

That is a gorgeous looking race car. I guess it's too late to hope that it is in GT4. :(

Theres been Blue and red I think. I saw some pictures in another thread. So why not blue or red? :dopey:

The very first Le Mans racing Asont Martins were called the DB series. I don't know why and they always used to have a yellow nose just like that. I can't remember there ever being a red or blue nosed Aston. So as Omnis said, it goes with tradition. I think the only one that might of had a blue or red nose is the group C, Aston which I can't remember what it was called.

I think it looks amazing. The FIA GT championship should be mighty next year. With Viper (privateers), Corvette (only in the odd race as privateers), Maserati, Ferrari (again privateers), Lamboghuni, Lister, Porsche, Morgan, TVR and many others along with now Aston Martin, it looks like there's potential to see GT racing go back to it's glory days.

I hope it's not to late for it to be in GT4 as well. Maybe GT4 release date getting pushed back later and later isn't such a bad thing after all.

Yep, this year it's the all new C6s against this thing. 2005 sounds like it's going to more entertaining than the 2004 season.

yellow can also have some symbolism behind it. yellow for the Gold...yellow as in, Piss on the competition. the possibilities are endless...well...as long as it has to do with the color yellow.

and yes...like pimp racer said, this is a huge repost. lol.

peace.

you guys are forgetting the acemco saleen's (two at sebring and possible petit)they haven't changed anything, theve been developing the s7r all winter, its sure to pretty competitve so it will be one great gts year

There is also rumors of the lambo coming back, i guess the did some tire testing and were as fast as the prodrive ferrari's in the dry, and faster in the rain, it would be cool to see them back in action after falling on their face, some guy from texas picked them up i guess

Some guy from Texas picking them up? I haven't the money to a Lamborghini GTS team! Wish I did, though. Would be major OWNAGE to the other teams.

Lamborghini R-GT runs well in tyre test, with more performance to come

- At the invitation of Michelin, the Lamborghini Murciélago R-GT sports racing car participated in four days of tyre testing at the Misano circuit in Italy last week, completing a series of track runs amounting to 1,800 kilometres (1,125 miles).

The R-GT was run by Reiter Engineering, the German-based company that builds and develops the race cars for Automobili Lamborghini. The car was driven by Peter Kox, who co-piloted the Murciélago R-GT to third place on its race debut in the FIA GT championship race in Valencia, Spain, in April.

Evaluating a selection of slick, intermediate and wet-weather Michelin racing tyres, the Lamborghini covered a distance equivalent to five FIA GT or American Le Mans Series races.

Hans Reiter, head of the eponymous engineering company, said: "It was very encouraging. On intermediate and wet-weather tyres, the Lamborghini went really well, lapping faster than the Prodrive-built Ferrari that also ran in the test. On the slick tyres we need a little improvement because the Lamborghini is mid-engined and the tyre compound was designed for a front-engined car, but even so it was close: sometimes the Ferrari was one or two-tenths of a second per lap quicker, sometimes the Lamborghini was one- or two-tenths quicker; it varied from day to day."

Kox said: "This was a very constructive test, something to build on. The Lamborghini's performance is more impressive when you remember we were running on tyres intended for a front-engined car. I think the Michelin engineers were surprised at how well the car performed."

Reiter added: "There's more performance on the way. The next step will be to finalise an improved aerodynamic package for 2005, and we're bench-testing an evolution of the 6.0-litre V12 engine which is giving more power." - americanlemans.com

my bad i guess theres a big diffrence from a guy in texas to some factory backed german people. it would be cool to see those lambo's be comp. against the saleen, corvettes, and these new aston martins, this will be great

ALMS Leader Lights Pre Mold On The Aston Martin DBR9
Braselton, GA - On a crisp morning across the pond in Gaydon, England, Aston Martin Racing unleashed the new DBR9 for its first round of tests to prepare for its exciting American Le Mans Series debut at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring at Sebring International Raceway.

"We are very excited about Aston Martin's involvement with the American Le Mans Series," said IMSA CEO Tim Mayer returning from the Aston Martin launch in Gaydon England. "The fact that DBR9 has the unique ALMS Leader Lights System pre-molded into the body is a testament that it is destined for ALMS competition. The car is certainly beautiful and the engineering details are clearly well done. We think that this is a car that fans and competitors will welcome to the grid and we look forward to its debut at Sebring International Raceway in March."

Following a successful launch to mark its return to international motor sport on Thursday November 4 the Aston Martin DBR9 immediately embarked upon its first track test on Friday November 5 at Snetterton race circuit, in the UK.

The Aston Martin Racing team reported that the car completed 20 laps with test driver Darren Turner at the wheel. Turner who was tasked with giving the DBR9 its debut run reported the car to be well balanced and having great potential.

DBR9 Unleashed
The DBR9 tested for the second time at Donington Park on Thursday November 11. The test was primarily for early durability, running and systems checks, as well as balance development. AMR is very happy with the way the DBR9 is currently performing and is planning to test again in the UK next week.

"Aston Martin has a rich motor sport heritage that in part was created in North America with many of our customers using their Aston Martins to go racing," said Aston Martin CEO Dr. Ulrich Bez. "In 2005 the brand is returning to the circuits and the American Le Mans Series will be an important opportunity for us to showcase the DBR9. We took four years to find the ideal partner in David Richards and Prodrive and together have created Aston Martin Racing. The DBR9 is the first step in our return to motor sport and I know that our customers and enthusiasts alike are looking forward to seeing Aston Martin racing again at an international level in 2005."

Faster Than Flight
Aston Martin Racing will run two cars at the American Le Mans Series 12 Hours of Sebring and then move to Europe to prepare for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June 2005. This will mark Aston Martin's return to the race, which was won outright in 1959 with Roy Salvadori and Carroll Shelby. In recognition of this, the DBR9 will follow the Le Mans-winning DBR1 and Works DB3S and carry the same green and yellow livery as the cars that dominated sports car racing in the late 1950s.

"Aston Martin is a legacy that will fit in very well with the American Le Mans Series," said American Le Mans Series CEO Scott Atherton. "The fact that the DBR9 will make its debut at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring is something that every racing enthusiast will look forward to. We are extremely pleased to have a new relationship with Aston Martin Racing and feel the debut will produce an added element of excitement to one of the world's great sports car endurance races."- americanlemans.com
