How could we possibly miss it when it's in a banner at the top of every page?
We get it. You're not interested in Imageshack or seeing ads. That doesn't mean others aren't. Dial the oozing negativity back, please.

May I remind you that I paid money not to.

As did everyone else. God forbid an offer some might want to take advantage of showed up for one day (or less if you closed the notification). Not everyone reads every section. I'd be willing to bet that there were thousands of GTPremium users that have never been in the computer and tech section and therefore had no idea this discussion was even going on.

As always, I truly can't conceive why such small issues blow up into huge problems for some.

Jacque, could you let us know on the best way to download our photos from Imageshack so that I can close my account please. Your service is now a paid service and that's your prerogative. I'm moving on.

Can I log into to your server(s) via SSH? I can access all my files that way. What are your list of servers to access my files please?

Imageshack have made some bad moves to deliberately make it more difficult handling images for their customers. I've been looking for an automated process to access my files/images and it's impossible to do unless you go through each file manually and download it that way. It's a deliberate move on part of Imageshack to trap customers who aren't paying for the Premium service.

Each image file is addressed by an Imageshack proxy so the only way that I can see to download images en-mass is to go through each one by one. WTF is that? There is no way to download and access (for good) all of my content en-mass.

As a past/free member, customers can't even access their own content properly because big, fat Imageshack is sitting on it and refuses to budge. The image content stored on Imageshack is owned by the customers (free or paid), not Imageshack. Customers have the right to access to their own content without obfuscation!

Not only that, so many images have gone missing from the account. Over 10% of the images in the account are in fact missing.

What a despicable company. I want my images and out of these bastards.

This is why you kept copies of each image you uploaded. You did keep copies, didn't you?

I agree that it would be nice to be able to download all of your files at once, but they're not exactly holding your files hostage when you can still download them individually.

I'm a premium member and I can't download all of my images at once either, as far as I'm aware. They're not trapping anyone, they're trying to run a business. It's not a charity.

I have to say I didn't make backups as the purpose of uploading my files was to backup the data there. Defeats the purpose if I have to backup the backup the data.

It's not a charity. The files are still accessible but they've deliberately made it difficult to get access to your files. Further issue which infuriates me is the missing pictures. They say they keep 3 or 4 copies of a file, we'll see about that.

Doesn't matter, with a bit of perseverance now I've managed to find a hack to download all my files automatically. I will post the hack here shortly for all to use.

An image host is not a backup service.

You should do 4 backups

  1. Keep one on your PC
  2. Copy files to an external HDD
  3. Copy files to a optical disc(CD, DVD or BD)
  4. Save to the cloud
This way you have access to the files you need

If your data exists in a single location only it is not a backup even if the location is something like "Acme Backup Services". You don't have a backup until the data exists in more than one location. @Grayfox's comment on backups is a very good one.

and with that last you're gone.
You may not want to listen but they make a valid point. You came on here complaining that your only backup was difficult to access!

You seem to have an issue with wanting to have the last word. Do I detect a hint of snobbery in your tone? You seem to know me so well already.

So you are saying two things.

1. I don't want to listen.
2. The only backup is difficult to access.

To which the answers are:

1. Have you thought of why?
2. If the backup is difficult why does one need to bother with maintaining a difficult to access backup?

Do the world a favor will you and F O. Totally unnecessary post.

I would love to hear how to do that. I have been rambling in my account for 20 minutes and been googling for 40 and cannot find how it's done.

As for the questions like "don't you have a backup of these files", well, if you used their plugin for uploading images you do not have a backup on your machine. You save image from the net right into imageshack. Copying the images to your machine and maintaining database of local-to-imageshack name correlation will be such a pain, I would rather not post a link to an image.

I agree, let them run a business, I just want what's mine. I have been using amazon for the past year, cost me less than 40 cents per month, I don't need imageshack with their pricing.

Guys, FYI -- ImageShack is closing a large portion of its business. It was a tough decision but unfortunately it has to happen. Please read this post, and if you do not have paid account with ImageShack consider moving your images to other places, you can use Skypath apps to download all the images to your desktop or mobile phones.

Here is the post: https://medium.com/@ImageShack/imageshack-content-delivery-policy-changes-3984af30964e

If you have any questions, you can ask me here, or via PM.

I used jdownloader to download all my images, I selected all images then clicked get links,
From there I choose HTML for the Type and Full size for the size
(I tried direct for type but it didn't work)

With Jdownloader 2beta I started the program then selected all the links and Jdownloaders link-grabber grabbed all the links into the program window,

In the Jdownloader window under the link-grabber tab you will see all your links, there will be a column to let you know if the images are still available, out of 45 images i had on imageshack all but 3 were still available. Just select all the images i.e. shift click to select a group of them right click and click start downloads.

One thing to watch out for, in the Jdownloader window there's a button at the top middle of the window, to toggle on and off clipboard observer just make sure thats on.

This all happened today so images are still available for download as of 29th of November 2015
