After visiting many forums, websites, and other various sources, I have composed a list of Metal music. This list contains a lot of bands (no new popular ones), songs, and albums. Basically none of these songs/bands/albums are extremely well known, and 90% of them were previously unknown to me. I am hoping that some of you may find it helpful in finding different types of metal that you previously havent listened to before. Most of the bands were found on forums and websites that were discussing "The heaviest Band," or "The Heaviest song," so none of this music is for the feint hearted (though I would not know because I have not listened to any more than 5 of these bands).

So have a look/listen, and tell me if any of them are any good: I personally dont want to sort through them all on my own.

........If this list was sorted alphabetically, it would've been a huge help - as is it's pretty much all jumbled up.
Having said that, I do recognize a name or two here. Disclaimer: I'm not a fan of death metal. Can't stomach all the "feral" screaming - hate it. Anyone can scream, even those with not an ounce of singing talent.
I still regret getting the Mastodon album Leviathan.
And for some reason I never got into Alice in Chains either.
By the way this list is missing one band I always digged (dug?): Die Krupps. They are...electro/industrial metal.
I effing love their stuff, even the lame attempt at rapping. Dunno why.

Alphabetical order was not in my mind when I was making this list: things just got added as I found them. Thanks for the suggestion though, and I am sorry if this is not your type of music, but I just wanted to compile a heap of Heavy bands with the hope that someone would find some new music to listen to.

Anyway, I will add your suggestion.

...Oi ,oi - I never said I'm not into heavy stuff, bud. I'm just not into feral screaming of Death metal. That's it.
I've been weened on 80s thrash, speed (or whatever is fashionable to call it these days) and hard rock, so a proper singing is a must for me.

I'll add another vote for die Krupps. Their first album is fantastic. I recognize a few names here and there, but there's a lot of stuff I'm not familiar with. Here are some of my opinions on the stuff I recognize...

Mayhem's De Mysteriis Dom Satanas is supposed to be very good, but I'm mostly a Thrash guy, although I do enjoy Melodic Death Metal, like Arch Enemy.

Rammstein is good, but I don't think I've listened to anything released after Sehnsucht.

Sepultura is good, I personally like Beneath the Remains and Arise the most, but anything they released with Max Cavalera is worth listening to.

Alice in Chains - stick to the stuff they recorded with Layne Staley, I don't really like their new stuff.

Black Flag - assuming we're talking about the same band, is technically hardcore punk and not metal but is definitely good, although I'm only familiar with the stuff they released with Henry Rollins.

Melvins - haven't heard much, but I like what I've heard.

Overkill - Excellent, I'd recommend that you stick with the stuff they released during the 80s, as like most thrash bands they diluted their sound during the 90s to get more record sales.

Machine Head - good, but I liked Vio-Lence (a thrash band that some of their members were in before hand) better.

Amon Amarth - I liked Twilight of the Thunder God, but I haven't heard anything else they recorded.

Death - Excellent, all of their albums are worth buying.

I have some recommendations for some thrash metal bands that you may have never heard of if you want them.

Awesome, thanks a lot: I would love any and all thrash band suggestions.

Thank you also for the suggestions of what to listen. I believe that nearly all of the last 20 or more bands are all 80's thrash and death metal, but I am not so sure since I havent listened to them.

All right, here's the recommendation list... I'd post videos if I wasn't on my phone.

Xentrix
Hexen
Lich King
Voivod
DRI
Vio-Lence
Wehrmacht
Dr. Livingdead
Bonded By Blood
Lawnmower Deth
Sodom
Destruction
Metal Church
Whiplash
Forbidden
Dark Angel
Testament

There are probably a few I'm forgetting, so I might come back to this later.

Are you kidding me? You want us to tell you what sounds good? Why don't you just listen to the radio then?

Here are some of my favorites on your list, including the more obscure ones that I'll organize for you. You see, there is some metal I like, and some that is just excruciatingly bad. I can't listen to black metal, for example.

Electric Wizard
Sleep
MASTODON
TORCHE
Amon Amarth
Cannibal corpse
Bolt thrower
Pelican
High on fire
Melvins
Maximum The Hormone
Om
Stoned Jesus
Jungle rot
Cauldron

Now I'll group them based on similarity with some other recommendations too.

Sleep split up and became High On Fire and Om. High on Fire is Matt Pike, the guitarist for Sleep, in all his glory. Om is the bassist and drummer of Sleep, and they play trance-like rhythm progressions and meditative music. Sleep and Melvins were the real pioneers of stoner/doom metal. Stoned Jesus does the whole stoner thing too. They're more chill like Om, but not THAT chill. Om was built for drugheads to have an experience.

Electric Wizard is similar to High on Fire. Also see Orange Goblin for a great band with the same mood.

Mastodon makes good music. Torche were a local band here in Miami and they also make excellent music. Pelican is an instrumental band with a similar sound.

Cannibal Corpse is what I consider a horror comedy band. Same thing with Jungle Rot. Their songs are so ridiculous and so stupid gory that it's a laugh. Jungle Rot has a really thick groove though. They're like Corpse mixed with Bolt Thrower.

Bolt Thrower is the ultimate groove band. All of their songs are the same formula with different groove licks. No Guts, No Glory is their best song, imo. Listen to that and you'll have experienced their entire discography.

Maximum The Hormone is a japanese metal fad band. It's like ADHD metal. You'll like it or hate it right off the bat. And if you like it, you'll get tired of it after a while.

Amon Amarth is melodic viking metal. And the only good band doing it.

Cauldron is one of the many amazing canadian metal bands. These do more the traditional kind of metal without growling and death metal vocals. Cauldron's best songs were from their earlier demos and LPs. Their album wasn't as good. Other canadians: Skull Fist, 3 Inches of Blood, and Striker. 3IOB and Striker are absolutely fantastic. Skull Fist is pretty good too, but they're more skaterish. All of them are much better than Cauldron, but Fist and Cauldron have more of a glam-like sound and 3IOB and especially Striker are big time Iron Maiden sound.

If you want an onslaught of drunken angry face-melting metal, also check out Malignant Tumour from Czech Republic. Their stuff is great in small doses, and they're hilarious guys that don't take themselves seriously. It's almost like satirical party metal, it's like, "I'm gonna go get ****ed up and **** **** up" metal with a great sense of humor.

Awesome.

I didnt know about sleep, and how they are Om and all that, but I did know about Electric Wiazard, Mastodon, Cannibal corpse, Bolt thrower, and Amon amarth. Thank you for informing me about the others., and I will add those that I havent already got on the list.

Also, I can respect your opinion on sub-genres of metal, but I know that there are people out there who listen to this stuff: One of them being me when I have the chance.

Acacia Strain, Shinto Katana are pretty much the only bands there that I like and know, unfortunately, as soon as I discovered Shinto Katana, they broke up.
Check out Hand Of Mercy? Up and coming Aussies, and new vocalist is a Brissy boy

Oh and can't forget Dead Kelly! The most unique, Australian metal band, and you have to watch their Youtube channel!

Thanks I will put them in.

Speaking of Aussie bands: The band Disentomb are from Queensland. They make some awesome Brutal slamming death metal

Mastodon, Electric Wizard, Dopesmoker, Meshuggah.

Torche is alright I guess.

Rosetta.

Oh and Black Sabbath.
I think I added Mastodon, Electric wizard, Dopesmoker, and Meshuggah.

I think Torche is in there too.

Rosetta doesnt sound familiar though: I will add them as well as Black sabbath

Thanks.

Black Sabbath and 3 Inches of Blood definitely good. 👍
I find it funny that there are two bands listed here called Meth Drinker and LOVE SEX MACHINE. Not that I hate these bands but that's probably the best names ever for a Metal Band.

Also does band-album mean that its a album named after the band's name?

Not it just shows the order of the two names shown, E.g: Earth - Earth 2 (BAND - Album). The first part before the dash is the band name, and the bit after the dash is the album.

There are some interesting names in there. Stoned Jesus is probably my favourite name.
