Having been bored of old-schooling it in a Prelude and generally testing out cars, i decided to have a crack at the Euro hot Hatch cup. I read "Unmodified cars only" (:yuck:) so i start scouting the European dealers for the hot hatch with the most bang for the buck. I spotted the Audi A3 V6, coming in at over 40k. 3200cc of V6 grunt and 246bhp ready made. So picking it in a hot hatch yellow, he was now mine. However to enter a hot hatch series he needed to look the part as well as have the go- so on went some nice OZ rims from GT Auto.

I put him on a strict diet first, and lopped his weight from 1495kg to around 1380kg, and then headed to Suzuka East Course for the first even to see how he'd stack up. Totally stock, he was pretty quick through the gears but not round bends, and managed to get a first place. Excellent! 12,000 mine then.

Gradually i did all the spot races and won them all first time round (apart from losing to a BMW M coupe at SS R5 one time - even tho technically it aint no hot hatch!). During this period, i lopped off more weight, (now down to 1250kg) added that device that evenly distributes torque to all 4 wheels, stuck on better flywheels etc and a fully custom suspension kit. I also boosted the grunt with a computer and oil change.

However i noted the manufactures' event for A3 models, so took him there. 3 easy wins later and a big Pikes Peak Audi concept car was mine. Now to get down to business. With the winnings from that i added NA tuning, boosting power to 350bhp and stuck on some mean-looking white Speedline rims to give him more menacing looks.

I wont bore you lot by going into details but he turned his cap back to front and slaughtered the competition in all five races, even though in the final round the Clio V6 decided he would tailgate me to the finish line. 60,000 in total winnings plus 45,000 bonus = 105,000 CR.

However here is the biggest disappointment: Eagerly anticipating the exotic prize car, you coudl imagine my, shall we say, surprise where i found out all i'd got for my trobules was a crummy Volvo Estate!

It was a great way to get to know a car, as rather than stickign all the mods ona t once, i added them as i went along, appreciating how a car behaves stock. I ddint need to fit close gearing; only a triple clutch, prop shaft and flywheel to get good gear changes, and i could rev that V6 to 7600rpm in every gear!

So, after winning two whole championships, my little boy was getting rather up himself. However it wa now time for him to start big school; after all a 300+bhp 3.2 V6 and 4WD is a good starting point. After boosting power to 436 bhp, i decided to take him to the big boys school of NA racing; ie the NA Cup.

Settling on Apricot Hill, my heart sank as i saw what the Audi was up against; such machniery as a Callaway C12, Pagani Zonda. All the cool kids. My big-engined econobox couldnt match this lot. Wrong. He howled his way to a first place (with a little help from some NOS) but he was stuggling to cope with all this pwoer. So i hotfooted it to GT Auto and equipped him with a wing. Although his curvy yellow looks were spoilt, the wing was a godsend, and i took him to Infineon raceway, beating a Callaway C12, Aston V8 Vantage, Aston DB7, and a TVR T350C by 14 seconds.

What a little giant killer!

Tho i sold him on after this, feeling there was nothing more he could do, i have to say that i was a retard not to discover the A3 3.2 V6 previously. It can punch way above its weight.

PS: My first post here in over a year!

Nice report, very detailed 👍
I'm not criticizing the report, because it was fun to read. But it's not detailed at all! What about fastest lap times, total race times, margins of victory? Who was the dominant AI, and when did you pass him for the lead? What tires were on the car? How many A-spec points? Those are details.

What you think are details and what George think are details are 2 different things.

Apparently. However, I'm also wondering how he entered an "Unmodified Cars Only" race in a highly modified car...

Becasue 'unmodified cars' are any cars that arent race cars, ie they say road car when you view thewm in the garage.

Ah. In GT3, "unmodified" meant "tires and oil only". Thanks!

youve inspired me to do the same thing...thanks buddy, nice report, although some times might have been nice...

Oh sorry, i'll write down all the exact details and how much money i spent in future shall i?

I wrote it to entertain, not to compare notes!
