Ok I've got an interview at an :audi: dealership next week so am getting as much info on the cars :car: and brand as possible, so if you could post:

Technical facts, model improvements that have occurred, racing successes of the cars :chkflag:, tuning companies and anything else Audi it would be appreciated.

Info on FSI would be handy too..

Thanks for your time :clock: and effort guys

Poor mans BMW.
Great Diesel engines. [VAG]
TT killed people, until they gave it a wing. Then it was ugly.
Unless you live under a stone, you'll know the R8 is one hell-uva race car @ LeMans.
Audi Quattro rally car wasn't shy either.
They won BTCC, but had 4WD when everyone else had FF. Hardly fair.
The ABT TT-R isn't anything special but looks beautiful.
Abt fettle with them.
The RS6 has very good brakes, and comes with 19" alloys [insert thumb up] from the factory. It's also pretty quick.

With that inmind, you can't fail to get the job. ;)

OK, I think MildMatt's "Poor Man's BMW" jibe was a little un-called-for. I would say instead "Thinking man's BMW". Also, he said "ABT TT-R isn't anything special, but looks beautiful". I have no qualms with the second point, but the first is plain wrong - the TT-R won this year's DTM!

The new (due 2004-5) A6 is in this week's Autocar, and features a simply enormous grille that harks back to the 1936 Auto Union race cars. Next RS6 will have a 500bhp V10 'borrowed' from the Baby Lambo project, so that should be exciting. Although it's got a steel monococque, unlike the A8, the new A6 has extensive use of aluminium in the suspension components and body panels, to save weight.

Future design direction can be seen with this car - you should really get hold of the magazine. Also, Audi are about to release the S4, which has the 4.2 V8 from the A8 under the bonnet! Audi have commited to making all future 'S' cars normally aspirated, rather than their previous "Big banger" approach of slamming large turbos on existing engines. First RS car was 80-based 315bhp car with 2.2l 5 cylinder engine first seen in ur-Quattro. Actually built in Porsche's Weissach factory, its principle failing was turbo lag one could time with a calendar. Second RS car, the RS4 was known to bend wheels - probably best you don't bring this up, since Audi are still fairly sore about it. Beautiful car and wheels though.

V6 TT is due in mid-2003, will command a £3k price hike over existing car.

New A8 4.2 was Autocar's Choice when compared with S420, LS400 and 745i. They said it wasn't QUITE as good as the S-Class but it was pretty damn close, and they preferred it.

Hope some of that helps. Now, can you bring me an RS6 demonstrator for a go when you get the job please?

Well, they did develop the Bentley EXP Speed 8 (known as the R8C) for Le Mans...which went on to win its class. :)

Depending on the position you are in their for, but if I was hiring you, I wouldnt give a crap how much you knew, unless you will be a salesman or part of marketing. If I was hiring, I would only care about how hard of a worker you are. Of course it doesnt hurt to come accross as an Audi enthusiast because that would suggest that you would put that much more effort into your job/work.

I like Audi's and I really look forward to driving their Continuously Variable Transmission.

BTW, what position are you applying for?

That's brilliant just the type of info I was after GG

About the RS6 it might be a problem as I'm going onto a modern appreticeship in parts and am not 17 yet...but I could send you up a few superchargers as ornaments?

How many RS6's are being made? Your local scottish branch may offer you a test drive if you act like your interested in buying one :2cents: say your choosing between it and an :m:5?

Course the salesman will be giving you his best ever pitch because I imagine the commissions are pretty nice on them? I will find out when I talk to the guys.

This Autocar mag sounds good? I'm a Top Gear buyer myself so I'm sure they'll have news of the latest :audi: in an edition.. soon

And it's about time the TT got a V6, I mean personally I think the standard models should have been a 2.0L rather than a 1.8L but bringing in a V6 will suffice nicely? :smilewink Lets hope to see it in the next :gt: too..

Well I'd disagree because knowledge of the product and brand shows that your interested and will give something to talk about with the Interviewer?

And later on I'll be moving up to Sales, parts is my, 'foot in the door' and gaining Experience of meeting customers

Oh right, OK. Since you're going into parts, I feel honour bound to tell you that you won't be finding any superchargers! They're all variable-geometry turbochargers. But one would be a cool ornament.

I'm not a convincing enough liar for that I don't think - especially when I turn up in my 1992 Renault 19 1.4!!!

Autocar is a good magazine for simple news. Top Gear is OK as a monthly, but I prefer Car. I did buy TG for their Million Quid Megatest though - that was interesting.

I don't think 200cc really matters when it's a blown engine. Also, Audi didn't have any 5 valve 2.0L engine that could take that much boost, so they would either need to go back to a 4 valve, which wouldn't be so efficient, or just use the smaller engine with a little more boost. The 225bhp car isn't exactly laggy anyway.

Not being prejudiced against blown engines, I never really felt that the TT 'needed' a V6. Wouldn't mind a go in one though. I think my friends with their TTs won't be that bothered. I know one of them's looking to get a Tuscan, and the other one is looking at an S4.

If you have product and brand knowledge, it will help enormously, although you need to be careful not to sound like a real anorak. Having interviewed and been interviewed, usually the interviewer is looking for someone who will best fit into the existing team, rather than the absolute best person for the job.

Just be calm and be honest. Is this your first interview?

Laurent Aiello. Yes, he was driving for them. He's very good too.

I might try and get to the Donington round of the DTM next year.

I've had a few interviews mostly with recruitment agencies for the motortrade which has got me to this point.

I'm always calm and find it works well to break the ice as it were with the interviewer, like you go through the interview procedure, but it's good to talk about something else too....like the guy works for :audi: so talk about current models, has he driven them how did he find it....

I'm not going to be an anorak but if we start talking audi and he reads that I like cars, motorsport in my CV then I'll have some knowledge to show this?

Thanks for the tips on what he'll be looking for..fitting in to a team and all.
