Personally I find auto better than manual because you won't lose precious seconds mistakenly changing gear and you get maximum output

Unless you have aids all off and you don't have a 4wd car auto is the way to go

Automatic will never predict what you want to do next. Manual will always be faster. And I can let the revs climb a little higher than the auto will.

How about starting grid sprint which will be faster ? Definitely auto right

I use Automatic all the time (I figure steering, braking and accelleration is more than enough to contend with). The one drawback with Auto is when you are going up a hill in a lesser powered car, a kickdown function would be extremely useful as the car tends to struggle on in the higher gear far longer than is useful.

Nope. Particularly because I can shift when the car needs me to shift. Not at the pre-programmed point PD has set for some number of revs below fuel cutoff.

I disagree I had a race with my cousin exact same car and exact same setup...drag race at a countdown and in the manual I edged away quicker than in the auto

Auto is for kids and lazy/bad drivers and makes you slower, in real life and in game. You can control the RPM with a manual transmission.

You can change a bit later to get max speed in long straights, you can help braking downshifthing, you can choose how to get out of a turn, hig-rev to max aceleration or higher gear and lower rev to control the traction? And that's only a few examples.

But I am already almost leading most of the races online with auto that is why I am asking

So if I change to manual now I can lap them lol ?

You dont know what you're talking about do you? :dopey:

Manual has always been way faster than auto. Ofcourse you must know how to shift.

Ok ok this is how I play with auto transmission

I play auto just like the manual pretending to change gears and what not

Simply put I use auto but using the manual style and without losing precious seconds

So I can have advantage the of both auto and manual

Have anyone tried using manual style control on auto transmission ?

Make sense ?

You are complete mistaken here. Manual shifting will always be faster, because you can precisely control the rpm and torque with the gears.

Automatic shifting often causes wrong gear shift in turns or too low rpm to get the perfect speed.

And if you are perfect in shifting manual, mistakenly changing gears will almost never happen.

Manual will always be better than automatic when racing. Automatic shifts gear at the wrong time and doesn't fully utilise the cars powerband. If you use manual, you'll be able to shift at higher revs, you'll be able to shift down a gear if you need more torque and you can also use engine braking. That's why most racing cars are manual in real-life.

Ok then what if I say they both manual and auto evens up ?

Manual had better rpm but auto makes up for it by not losing a semi second changing gears

No matter what human fingers will never be as fast as auto movement unless you are a robot

Auto is for lazy americans who dont know what to use their left leg for:)

Someone sucks at chaging gears. I'm a second a lap faster in manual and in the wet I'm about 4 seconds faster as I short shift.

If given a straight line starting from point a to b are you sure manual will be faster ?

Yes, if the same good driver runs with auto and then with manual, the manual run will be faster.

If you have many straight line speed on in the track which will you go for auto or manual ?

Let's say indy

LOOOL...is this guy for real??:dopey:

You gave me quite a laugh tho..

Are you guys all just guessing or have personally done testing ?

I mean winning races on manual doesn't mean that manual runs faster than auto

Winning is one thing speed is another

Yeah auto is much better, that's why all real rally drivers and formula drivers use it!

...not

In GT5, manual and automatic changes take exactly the same amount of time.

I'm tuning up a Lancia Delta but only using the stage 2 turbo. It redlines at 7 and a bit thousand, and that's where the automatic gearbox would change. It is much faster to change at 6 as that puts the revs back right into the power band.

Manual, where you can choose when to change is always faster than automatic.

Laugh all you want

See you on the track lol

You can say, whatever you want. But every player who is good in manual shifting, will always be faster than you.

Your experience depends on the fact, that you just suck at shifting manual.

And that is a fact, you will never be able to disprove.
